Arthur Cottage

What a gem of a find. Mary was very knowledgeable and a talented spinner. She made the visit extremely interesting and we learned so much. A lovely cottage with lots of information about its history. Some of it well preserved and takes you back to a bygone era.

A very informative and pleasurable experience learning about the 21st President of the US and his links to Northern Ireland. Well worth a visit if you are in the area and not far from Belfast. A very big thank you to Patricia who went the extra mile opening the cottage for us.

Very friendly welcome by a lady in period costume who also took us round and with whom we had a very interesting conversation.

The first part of the house portrays it as it would have been prior to the future President Chester Alan Arthur's father's emigration to Canada and the US.

The second part illustrates Arthur's life as 21st US President.

We have friends with the surname Arthur and bought some of the excellent souvenirs to take back to them.

If you're arriving by car and don't know which driveway to aim for, go for the middle one!

I was part of a large group of 25 people who visited this beautiful cottage which has so much history. What really made our trip memorable was our lovely guide Jenny who was so witty and wonderful at explaining the history of the cottage and the area.
