The first luxury hotel to be built in Madrid, Gran Hotel Inglés dates back to 1886. Completely restored and renovated under the artistic direction of Rockwell Group, the hotel has become one of the finest properties in today’s Madrid. Situated in an incomparable location in the city center, it is near the cultural, commercial and leisure areas of the capital. Among its many attributes is a sophisticated restaurant which combines traditional and innovative cuisine, as well as a comprehensive fitness center with top-of-the-line exercise equipment, offering, a varied program of services and activities, and a complete wellness area with a wide range of exclusive treatments and products.
Show more...We travelled to Spain for the first time and stayed at the Gran Hotel Ingles during the first few days of our stay. It was a wonderful experience! To begin, the hotel was simply beautiful as was our room and we enjoyed every meal that we had while staying there. If that was the extent of our experience we would probably rate the Gran Hotel Ingles a 4.5. But what really made a difference and pushed the hotel well over a 5 was the service we received from the hotel staff. Each person we encountered was amazing!!! We traveled with my service dog, Bailey. While walking to our connecting flight on the way to Madrid, Bailey cut his paw pad on the moving walkway. Noria, part of the concierge team found us a veterinarian and made us an appointment. The hotel sent Sandros (another hotel staff member) with us to the vet to translate, ensuring we received the best care, because neither my significant other nor I speak Spanish. Additionally, Noria assisted with the planning of many excursions during our stay, recommended the BEST restaurants for us, and simply made our time in Madrid wonderful. She was exceptional! The staff members graciously and warmly addressed us by name (despite the many hotel guests), frequently asked about Bailey and his overall health, and met our every need. Even extending breakfast when we overslept and arrived after breakfast was over. I wish I could rate the Gran Hotel Ingles more than a five star.

The staff, specially a waiter called Jorge, exuded professionalism, warmth, and attentiveness, making me feel genuinely welcomed. Their impeccable service truly set the tone for my entire stay. From offering helpful recommendations to promptly attending to any inquiries, their dedication to ensuring guest satisfaction was evident at every turn. The Grand English Hotel's staff exemplifies the epitome of hospitality, making it a standout destination for anyone seeking a refined and memorable hotel experience."
Show more...My family and I had the most wonderful stay at the Gran Hotel Ingles. The location is fabulous, and all the good stuff is near, or easy to reach. The rooms ( we had a family suite) are clean and the domestic staff is brilliant, and whatever extras we needed we only had to call. The breakfasts are brilliant- my kids loved the French toast- and the bar in the evening was lively and fun. Most of all, we loved the staff; from Prince on the door to Nuria and Jorge front of house who literally made our stay easy and do-able; nothing was too much for them, and for that we are hugely grateful. Can't recommend enough.
Show more...Great hotel in central location. One of the best places we have stayed in Madrid. We had a large room with balconies overlooking the small street the hotel is on. The staff is fantastic - were always there, remembered our names and made us feel right at home.
Show more...Visited the Gran Hotel Ingles for the first time this valentines day with my wife. Since moving to Madrid the hotel has been on our list to try for a "stay-cation" - but the visit left us feeling dissapointed. Let's start with the good - First of all the front desk / receiption staff were all very friendly, super attentive and helpful. - The interior of the hotel still looks good and decently kept - The room was spacious and clean - We had no noise from the street - besides the trash truck passing close to midnight (as everywhere in Madrid) - There was a pillow menu (though we didn't use it) - Location is great for accessing the center - thought I wouldn't stay in this part of the city during high season due to too many crowds Would have wished for a harder mattress in the bed - but understand that it is hard to please everyone - and there was no problem with the quality of the bed. Then the dissapointments: - The breakfeast was mediocre - coffee seemed to be straight from a "gas station" style service station. Eggs made to order were bad. Buffet section small and bland - We also had lunch in the bar upon checking in. The food was not awful but also not great - and quite overpriced even comparing to fancier establishments in Madrid - The spa jacuzzi was under renovation - We passed the lobby at night and overheard the "jazzy entertainment" - which was very poor - The fact that an establishment like this thinks it's ok to charge you for coffee pods and tea bags in the room. (Especially without at least clearly stating it) Shocking. Too sum up, the issues seem mainly to be due to poor management and cost cutting. We will not be back and not be recommending the hotel to any friends or visiting guests.
Show more...Beautiful room with nice fixtures, very friendly and helpful staff, great lobby bar and a good breakfast. We really liked the location on a smaller street in Las Letras as the vibe was more authentic and laid back compared to the more touristy Plaza Mayor/Sol area where we had stayed previously. We will definitely return to this hotel when next in Madrid.
Show more...The location is excellent, the staff is friendly and professional, and the cleanliness is excellent—service of a very high standard. If I return to Madrid, I will stay at the hotel again; it's worth every penny.
Show more...Madrid was the final stop of our 15-day trip to Spain and we are very glad we chose this hotel. We booked a junior suite (beautiful spacious room) and were welcomed with a glass of cava when checking in and a delicious cake was waiting for us in our room. The breakfast was a great way to start each morning with a great variety of fresh fruit and items cooked to order. The staff were very friendly and we were always welcomed back with a warm smile. A shoutout to the wonderful people who noticed that we hadn’t used the coffee machine in the room (we travel with our own favourite coffee pods and the original machine in the room used a different type of pod). On our second day, we noticed the coffee machine had been swapped to another model that we could use our coffee pods with. This was really unexpected and very much appreciated! Great location as well with lots of restaurants, bars and sites to see within walking distance. Even then, we had an inner facing room and slept like babies as it was very quiet. Plus: The gym is also very decent for a hotel of this size Would definitely recommend this hotel!
Show more...My 16-night stay at the Gran Hotel Ingles was a truly unforgettable experience. The Amazing Team: Thanks to its wonderful team of bellmen, receptionists, and concierges, led by Javier, my time at the Gran Hotel Ingles was really special. Throughout my stay, everyone was so welcoming, helpful, gracious, and professional. The three concierges, Lorena, Nuria, and Joaquin, were simply amazing — extremely knowledgeable, warm, funny, kind, and eager to help with whatever I needed. They were full of recommendations for numerous smaller museums, temporary exhibits, lesser known sites, interesting day trips, and wonderful restaurants. They always had direct knowledge of whatever they were recommending. And, they often had great suggestions for beautiful churches or sites to explore in the vicinity of where I was going on a given day. When I returned to the hotel each evening, they greeted me enthusiastically, always asked to hear about my activity-packed day, then eagerly offered to help me find a lovely place for dinner. Two very unexpected gestures enhanced my stay even more. One evening, Nuria arranged to have a lovely glass of sparking wine delivered to my table at a wonderful seafood restaurant she had recommended. And, the day before my departure, the team surprised me with a homemade farewell card and a lovely fruit plate. It was all so touching. I feel so fortunate to have stayed at the GHI and to have gotten to know the members of their superlative team. Thanks to each team member, my two+ week stay in beautiful Madrid was much richer than it otherwise would have been. The Wonderful Hotel Itself: Excellent, very central location: charming Barrio de las Letras neighborhood; very close to the Prado, Thyssen, Reine Sofia, and the Sol metro station; easy walk to lots of interesting sites and neighborhoods; lots of very good restaurants within a three to 10 minute walk Lovely breakfast: very nice mix of buffet and menu choices; the hosts and all of the waitstaff were very friendly and efficient Comfortable room: very comfortable and quiet interior-courtyard-facing room; lovely welcome cake and fresh bottles of water every day; excellent housekeeping; very responsive to requests for ironing board and other minor items Beautiful lobby: elegant and spacious, yet very warm, cozy, and welcoming, with a lovely bar area, a very good dinner menu, and live music on some evenings
