A group of three had a very nice lunch here. Cheerfully served, well presented, good quality food. Bring 3 men we all had Haddock and Chips but I could see plenty of variety from the extensive menu on the tables around us. What was especially nice is we were left alone to gossip deep into the afternoon without any hassle. We’ll be back….. recommended

I would without hesitation recommend this beautiful hotel, deserving of the description ‘boutique’. Cocktails, dinner and breakfast were delicious, as were the scones we had on our arrival. The room was lovely and well equipped and the bed was the most comfortable we have slept in for years! Can’t fault anything and all the staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful.

We stayed here for one night on a last minute trip away. (Got a very good reduced rate on hotels.com which also included breakfast) Good hotel with very interesting decor. Having read previous reviews saying one room in particular could be noisy, we included a note with our booking asking for a quiet room. They responded within the hour to confirm they'd reserved us a quiet room on the top floor and did not disappoint. Our room (22) was a good size for a short stay with a comfy bed, table and chairs, desk, wardrobe, TV, free fast WiFi, tea/coffee/hot choc, water bottles, good bathroom with very powerful shower and nice products. Parking was included. The heating in the room worked really well (most welcome as it was very cold outside) and there was good blinds as well as curtains. Breakfast was good, more formal than we're used to. I really enjoyed my eggs Benedict and they were more than happy to swap the Parma ham with bacon. My wife's smoked salmon and scrambled egg was also good. We had plenty of toast, yoghurt and fresh fruit. Yoghurt wasn't as cold as I'd expect, but they were perfectly willing to replace had we wanted. Personally, we prefer to help ourselves to the continental items. But appreciate that's a matter of opinion. Central location close to the station, shops and restaurants. You can walk easily to the seafront on the road in a few minutes or for a more scenic walk cross the road and walk through valley gardens through the woods. We had a lovely stay and would recommend this hotel.

Booked afternoon tea for a Sunday treat , two traditional and two savoury. What an excellent spread , all of the food was lovely, tasty and fresh . The server was quick with our tea pot (real tea leaf) and the food followed quickly after that. Savoury food, pie ,sausage roll, etc were hot and tasty, the sandwiches, and cakes were dainty and yummy .The whole presentation was top notch. The room was very old style and very comfortable, the wing back chairs added to our comfort and experience,will definatly return and will recommend to any one who wants to be spoilt , Well done

New year's eve gala dinner was brilliant! Good atmosphere, service was spot on for all 7 courses and the food was out of this world. The band was excellent, everyone up dancing. Will be booking up for this year

What a fantastic hotel from the food to the staff to the rooms , made to feel very welcoming nothing was to much trouble thanks for a great time and a great team be back soon to this fantastic gem off a place Thankyou

The Hotel is comfortable if a little retro. The staff are really helpful. The food is excellent, I had dinner and breakfast and it is excellent value for money. I would rate the room as OK though because (a) the shower was leaking hot water (b) the bathroom fan was noisy, (c) Room 8 backs onto a loo which has a very noisy hand drier in it.

Friend's birthday so we went here for afternoon tea. All I will say is tacky decor, chipped cup that took ages to get replaced, a hair found in one of the cakes, the sandwiches were not freshly made, and Luke warm tea/ coffee. The toilets are a disgrace, toilet paper on the floor and stuffed in the toilet, when my friend mentioned it to staff, their response was very rude and arrogant. Not a place I would recommend.

My husband took me for a night at the hotel as a treat for our anniversary. From the warm welcome on our arrival, to the best wishes on our departure, we couldn’t have asked for anything better. Our room was beautiful with a view over the woodland opposite. It was spacious and spotlessly clean. Well appointed with every amenity, it was a shame to have to come down for the meal on the evening. However, the tasting menu was sublime, and well worth the effort. Each course beautifully presented, and with such varied flavours, the wine accompaniment finished off a wonderful evening. The staff were wonderfully attentive without being pushy, and were friendly and helpful. After a marvellously sound sleep, it was time for breakfast. An extensive menu made it difficult to decide what to have, however we both plumped for the full English, and were not disappointed! At check-out the staff bade us a fond farewell and I truly hope it is not long until our next visit. Thoroughly recommend the hotel and the restaurant, for the setting the staff, the level of service and the quality of the food!
