Hilton Head Distillery

We have been here a few times and enjoyed it. The last trip in Feb. 2021 we brought our daughter and her husband for her birthday. We enjoyed the tastings then we purchased a total of 5 bottles of spirits. We enjoy HHD and we were trying to support a local business during these challenging Covid times. I only give 3 stars because when our daughter got home she noticed several fruit flies floating in her Un-opened bottle of Bananas Foster we bought her. We do not live locally so I have written HHD twice asking if there was a way to do something about this, anything, I just wanted some dialog as to what we could do. I'm very disappointed that no one has even bothered to try to contact me. This review is a warning before you purchase a bottle, make sure there is nothing extra in the bottle.

Very expensive for what you got. There was nothing going on, no one was working in distillery, no bottling, no distilling. You did not really get any feeling how the process worked.
For a couple you spend almost $75.00 with tax for 45 minutes of someone talking and a few small tastes of liquor (and a $3 shot glass).
It did not feel like a tour, but more a lecture.

The whole tour was amazing, from start to finish! We arrived at the distillery with nothing but friendly faces to greet us. We got our drinks from the bar and went out back and waited for our guide to arrive. After a few minutes Bobby came in the door and the electricity was in the air! Bobby was engaging, talkative, knowledgable and obviously friendly! He asked about us, where we were from and even knew a few things about our hometown that not everyone would know. Throughout the whole tour his energy was just top notch, from answering a small question like how many bottles you package a day to a question about the science involved in distilling. Bobby was such a thrill! You could tell he really loved his job and wanted everyone share in that with him, by knowing everything you could want to know. When we went in to the tasting room to try the Spirits, his energy just kept climbing! We tried 6 products and everyone was better than the next. I’ve never been one to drink rum straight from a glass, but after this tour, our group collectively bought 12 bottles to take home with us! We took the tour at the end of August and friends and family that have come by since we returned have tried our Rums and they love them. We had such a blast and can’t wait to go back next time we are in Hilton Head! We’re already lining up our trip for July!

Hilton Head Distillery provided a great time for our group (me, father in law, and brother in law)! The tour guide was excellent and knowledgeable, not only giving history of the distillery but also history of Hilton Head Island and how the two connect. The tour guide took all our questions and ensured we all had a great time on the tour. The tasting was awesome as well - they had their flagship rum lines for us to taste and provided instructions on how to get the best experience out of each line. They even had a special pre-release tasting of their upcoming bourbon, which was a great bonus. The shop was very nice and the bar let our group taste a couple of the lines that weren't in the tasting. All in all, a great tour and experience!

We had a great time touring this brewery. Our guide, Bobby, was very knowledgeable about the process, the company, and the history of the area. The samples are amazing. This place has some unique tasting sprits that I highly recommend trying. If you don't have time for a tour just stop by and do some samples at the bar. You won't be dissapointed!

Our guide was pleasant and knew alot about their distillery. We are coming from KY though, so our viewpoint is different when talking about bourbon vs whiskey. The Pineapple Rum was really good. We purchased the 3 that are supposed to taste like the dessert (spice rum, expresso rum and coconut rum, however when we mixed it 1:1:1 ratio, it doesn't come close to tasting like what we had, so that was quite a disappointment. I think $30 per person is quite high for an entry fee as well. Over all though, the tastings were fun, we got to spend time as a family and we got a great inside scoop on a place to eat, before leaving!! Thanks

The tour was wonderful. Our tour guide, Bobby, was exceptional. He walked us through the distilling process not only with expert knowledge but also with a lot of humor. The tasting afterward was extraordinary! I south definitely suggest this tour to anyone coming to Hilton Head.

The two of us had a great time and built a very nice rapport with the staff and tour guide. The tour guide was exceptional in the information provided and when not knowing an answer, promised to find that answer and did. The spirits were great, and the homemade hummus was delightful.

We had a wonderful 1 hour tour with Bobby our guide at the Hilton Head Distillery. He started his tour by explaining the history of spirit manufacturing on Hilton Head Island and the ingredients used in manufacturing rum. The tour then moved into the factory area where Bobby explained the process of making rum, bourbon and vodka all of which are made on the premises. Bobby showed us their bottling, labeling and packaging for shipment processes. Once finished we then moved into the tasting room where we had the opportunity to experience 7 types of liquor made by the distillery. We found the overall experience to very informative and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun time.

Had a great time on the tour. We didn’t have reservations (a Friday)and the 4 of us arrived a few minutes after the tour started but the guy at the front desk was kind enough to let us join in. Steve did our tour and he was very knowledgeable. He did a great job explaining it all and he was a lot of fun during the tasting. It was $35 for the tour,tasting of 6 products and free shot glass(per person). We would definitely recommend if you like rum,vodka,bourbon, gin.
