Captain Jed’s Airboats

Captain Joe is full of knowledge about the Saint John River and wildlife in the area. His airboat ride was exciting and more fun than we ever thought it would be. Captain Joe points out alligators and several species of birds while giving you a ride you will remember with a smile. We had a great time!!

Great ride! The driver was very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. We saw at least 5-6 gators. A lot of cool birds also! I definitely recommend this airboat tour id you’re wanting to see wildlife and the swamp side of Florida.

Captain Joe did a great job of pointing many different birds and we saw at least 17 gators (he can tell them apart and has names for them!). Our ride was almost an hour and a half, so we felt we got our money’s worth. The boat is definitely not fancy, but it was an excellent ride. Captain Joe really did a good job interacting with an 8-year old boy in our group as well as the older folks.

Couldn’t be more disappointed!

Having rescheduled our airboat ride back from 2020 to this year, my family of 6 were very excited and made the journey from Kissimmee (all from the United Kingdom)

After numerous emails back and forth confirming the date and time, upon arrival we had breakfast in Shady Oak next door which was delicious. We expected to be riding the airboat at 10am but after waiting almost 20 minutes there was a no show.

We called the number on the building and spoke to Theresa who was rather blunt in confirming they didn’t receive our booking (we were reading out all the email correspondence between us and them) and she couldn’t take any responsibility and apologise it was their fault!

Avoid and go to De Leon Springs air boat instead.

Alligators and birds galore!
We are from the local Central Florida area and had some family visiting. Captain Jed’s airboat rides looked like a bunch of fun, so we tried it and loved it! Joe, the captain, was incredibly knowledgeable about the local area and wildlife. He was even able to find some brand new baby alligators sunning themselves for us to see. And being that all six of us (all grown adults & teens) could get in on one ride made it even more fun.
A one hour tour was booked, but we were out for almost two hours! And Joe was very accommodating when we mis-judged the time and called to say we were going to be late.
We will be back to ride with them again and again!

Captain Jed's Airboats was a fun adventure! The airboat was clean and the tour was a full 2 hours. Jed took us on many tributaries of the St John River to point out young alligators as well as mature ones, various birds, plant life, Native American points of interest, and answered our many questions about Florida wildlife. Jed and his wife were personable and kind. Don't judge from the outside of the building as they are still in process of updating it. After all, it's just where you do the paperwork. Also, road construction made getting to their driveway difficult. If it's still going on when you visit, be sure to call as you get to the bridge construction and they will direct you.

We wanted to take an airboat ride in Daytona. The closest was Deland where there was one, Captain Jed’s airboats. We had to call which was answered right away by a human being! They were booked for that particular day, so we called back a few days later and booked a ride. The store front was locked but actually you go to the restaurant next door and wait. We were greeted by a nice gentleman and went back next door to the shop to pay and sign our names. It happened to just be us(3) which was great! Had a nice ride, very personal, and knowledgeable about the river and the area around. Took his time to make it an awesome experience. I would definitely go back and recommend this to anyone coming to the area.

I treated 2 groups of family and friends out twice in the last 4 weeks. Everyone enjoyed. Captain Joe is a great captain and serious naturalist , he really enjoys what he does. I plan on taking more family again real soon. You see habitat that you will only see by a airboat. Captain Joe said that you will see more alligators when it’s not so hot.

We had the absolute pleasure of touring the river with Captain Joe. Not only did we see an abundance of gators and other wildlife, he educated us about what we were hearing and seeing. His love and respect for nature made this trip a truly memorable one. I can't recommend him enough. This is not just a job to him and that makes all the difference!

My family recently took a ride with captain Joe. Most of us havent spent significant time in Florida so we were truly amazed at the wildlife and landscape we were seeing on the St. john river. Even my uncle who has lived in Central Florida for years was blown away by our experience.
The captain clearly new the river like the back of his hand, navigating inlets and parts of the water that few people seemingly explore. We hardly saw any other boaters on our trip.
Numerous great viewings of alligators birds and even a few manatees made for an amazing and memorable trip.
I would absolutely recommend captain Jeds airboat rides to anyone!
