This is one of the coolest auto museums I've ever seen. Each car is unique and impeccably showcased with a very detailed description. They also set the stage with period clothing to help bring you back to the relevant era. The staff was very kind and helpful; eager to answer any questions we had. Not only for car enthusiasts; would highly recommend to anyone who appreciates beautiful cars.

I have been to auto museums around the world. This is by far the BEST auto museum. The entire collection is pre-WWII and all built in the US. This extensive collection is steam, electric or gas powered. All of the cars are drivable, except one or two. Visiting on New Year's Day, I didn't expect to see many people. There were many visitors, all equally impressed. While there, it was downpourimg snow, but the staff had two vehicles in the parking lot you could enjoy a ride in. A once in a lifetime experience.
The museum also houses a period clothing collection. As you tour, you will see elegant dresses from the periods of each car. Absolutely incredible!
The staff is very knowledgeable and excited to share information about EVERY automobile.
I could have spent a few more hours, so plan accordingly.
If you are wearing a heavy coat, there is a coat area so you can enjoy without carrying your coat.
I need to mention the gift shop. Very nice and not overpriced.
If you want to understand the period Alaska photos on the walls, pick up a book (to borrow during your visit) that explains the photos.
One final special note, take a moment to watch the short videos throughout the museum. One in particular will catch your interest. It was filmed in San Francisco prior to the earthquake, and is probably the only moving picture of the streets in San Francisco pre-earthquake.

I didn’t know about this museum before arriving in Fairbanks for my vacation. My travel partner is a car lover so asked to visit the museum. Upon arrival I noticed a sign saying “Threads and Treads.” Next to the antique cars are women’s dresses, hats, shoes, etc from the same (or close to the same) year as the car. So while I’m not a big antique car fan, I found this museum VERY interesting (I forgot to mention all the old photos on the walls from Alaska) and definitely worth an hour or hour and a half of your time and $15.

This is one of the most impressive auto museums I have been to, and I have been to numerous auto museums across the U.S. Our guided tour with Mr. Vinton lasted over two and a half hours and was an over the top experience. His complete knowledge of all the cars/items in the museum was impressive. I have recommended this museum to many people already and would recommend it to anyone. We came all the way from Florida and this is a must see when in Alaska.

The attention to detail is beyond belief with showroom level restoration. It's worth every penny and then some to stop and spend a few hours taking a trip back to 1898-1936 and tasting the period. The staff are very knowledeable and share history to enhance the experience. A must see while in Fairbanks!!

As car lovers my husband and I were thrilled to find this gem. This is a “living” museum. These beautiful specimens run. Well, all but 3. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They were available for question/answers. It is climate controlled and beautifully decorated with autos and clothing from each era. The informational plaques are easy to read and have many facts about each exhibit. At $15.00 for adults it is also an amazing value for family fun. There were families with children and their faces were priceless. Getting to see this amazing collection was well worth the visit. Thanks for the amazing experience!!

The transition of the vehicle history including but not limited too; the background of the female dress attire, each time event that occurred clockwise throughout the museum as if we were walking through the historical moment aka blast from the past, different spark plugs upgrades/ engine upgrades with consistent knowledge too back each timeline, picturesque photos that an average joe would admire too the detail orientation associated with it, it’s attractive to all ages due too the organization skills that is clearly shown. I appreciated the opportunity too see much a miraculous place with my wife and the staff were more then willing to educate as we asked questions. Our most favorite part overall because there is only so much space to write a review was the atmosphere of old school music, appropriate/proper space for covid-19 and a cute gift shop as a cherry on top.

Shelia, who is a great spokesperson for the museum, met us at the door and was very informative and personable.
The cars were absolutely beautiful! Restored to perfection! The ladies fashions worn during this time period were absolutely beautiful and added so much to the story of the beautiful automobiles. As I was admiring both the cars and ladies fashion, a man walked up to me and said “they really had it right…cars for the men and fashions for the ladies!” I also enjoyed looking at the two Singer sewing machines similar to what I own. My husband’s favorite car was the 1936 Packard. Our nephew’s was the 1933 Auburn. For me they were all my favorite as was the same for my brother in law. The pictures on the wall and the videos were very impressive! We appreciate the Cerny family for restoring these wonderful automobiles of yesteryear and sharing and sharing their live for them with the public! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! For those visiting Fairbanks Do No Miss the Wonderful Opportunity of Visiting the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum. It surely must be the best in the world!!

A must do for all ages! Took my 4 grandkids, ages 7 and 15 boys, 14 twin girls…they really enjoyed the interesting historical facts and well-designed exhibits. All the cars run but 3, newest car was 1939. Information signs for each car showed top speeds, hp (which the kids had fun comparing with my 500 hp truck), how many were produced, price new, and the fashion for that time period (girls surprised by layers of the women’s clothes, shoes, hats, was fun), etc. Cars, racers, motorcycles, bicycles, tractors. Huge pictures from the old days, all taken in Alaska, are displayed on the walls. We spent almost 2 hours here! Tuesdays many of their volunteer mechanics and helpers are there that are so helpful and share fun facts!

Weather you are a “gear head” or not, it’s easy to appreciate the art and history assembled within this museum. The cars, clothing, pictures and history are insightful and will leave anybody richer for seeing and experiencing. Ask any of the museum docents and they’ll fill you with as much or little you’d like to know about everything in the building. Beautiful restorations as far as the eye can see. Spoke with Steven and Willy about the cars I was looking at, they couldn’t have been nicer.
