This market in Manavgat Town Center is one of the largest open-air markets in Antalya and happens every week (check the schedule before heading down). Here, you'll find all sorts of goods on sale, from fresh fruits, spices, Turkish tea, olive oil, and figs to textiles, accessories, and "designer" clothing. Haggling is the norm here, so try your luck to get great bargains on souvenirs. There are also cafes and restaurants in the area for a taste of Turkish cuisine. Many boat tours on the Manavgat River make a stop at the market, along with the Manavgat Waterfall. – Tripadvisor
Show more...Very busy large market divided in 2 , one side is all fruit and veg and the other is your usual fake holiday items.
Fruit and Veg side is great and worth the look around.
Fake goods side is rammed and if looking for something in mind then its a good morning out.
The stalls have EVERYTHING priced in Euro's. have to ask for price in Lira. Make sure you have a calculator handy to ensure correct conversion and to bargain a good price.
Do not have a drink at any of the side cafes.was charged 28Euros for couple of cokes!!!!! Lesson learnt!
Thought this would be cheaper shopping instead of shops on strip but proved to be very wrong. Hot and stuffy market and all try to rip you off over 3 times prices in shops! Even the haggling was hard work and they would not come down near shop prices in most stalls. Don’t waste your time in my opinion unless you just go for the experience. Main town was great with some nice local shops.
Show more...The market is great. i'm one for handbags and shoes and this was HEAVEN with both. the market in SIDE is much bigger, but this one is a great option held every Monday and Thursday. i picked up handbags for 1 euro a piece, and branded shirts like Dior and Prada for only 2 euro a piece. be careful of perfume sellers selling fake scents, bought a hypnotic poison that i managed to haggle from 850 lira (£20+) to only 200 lira (£5+). be careful of your surroundings and watch your belongings. otherwise, a great market to visit.
Show more...A huge market only on Monday and Thursday. We booked a boat tour and it included this market. We were told 2 hours in market but only given 1 hour and half. It's very nice market and cheap. You must haggle and get even cheaper items like t shirts that are designer.
Show more...A good bit of fun for an hour or two while picking up the odd bargain. The stall holders are all friendly and ready to sell but not too pushy. But be prepared to haggle. Leather goods are good value (after haggling).
Plenty of fake clothing of fairly good quality.
The spice stalls had a lovely aroma and were very colourful.
Very busy market place and monsterously big too, very easy to get lost or an ideal place to lose your kids. Packed with market traders very repetitive but difference in quality with some. Looking for replica clothing at a discounted price or a food market then well worth a visit. Haggle haggle haggle, I may have offended a few traders, I even managed to upset a chap selling water and soft drinks.
Show more...Manavgat market is held on a Monday and Thursday each week. There are regular "bazaar" buses that will take you directly there from the bus stop by your hotels to the market. They come every 5 minutes or so on market day. I paid 16tl each way which is about 75p.
The market itself is quite large. There are permanent "shops" that you will pass to get to the stalls, these are a touch more expensive and bargains can still be had, although some Sellers are in cuckoo land *with pricing so be aware. Everything is not genuine so don't be fooled by the sales patter. For example I asked about a mont blanc pen. I bought identical in Thailand for £10 the guy wanted £70*. Again I asked about a fake Ralph Lauren Teddy jumper and they wanted 40€. I think some Sellers believe that their stuff is genuine, but more likely it's just greed as they catch some people who don't know better.
Moving on, there are so so many good quality items ( non original but you'd be hard pressed to notice the difference with some) that you can get for a very good price. Do allow a few good hours if you wanted to take time to look around and bargain.
Bargaining and negotiating is a must! I was interested in some air Jordan boots Which they have everywhere. Initially I was told they were 39 euro's. Then 29 after a bit of negotiating. Which I suppose isn't bad for some people. But in the end I paid about 12 pounds. In children size, I paid about £8.50. Again, they're not real, but they're decent replicas.
I would say that most of the vendors are actually reasonable and aren't pushy, and certainly don't drag you out from the aisles. If you're not interested, just let them know straight away and they will just say thank you.
I bought 3 hermes belts, two were non leather pvc made to look like leather and one genuine leather all for £10. So good deals can be had, although I'm sure the pvc won't last year's like leather.
Be careful when buying the powder tea. It can be very tasty but be sure to check the price first before they weight it out, what seems like little money to start with can add up and they'll try to force you to buy, some Sellers ask for ridiculous prices to start by again they're trying it on. Also make sure you actually want it.
Certain things I just couldn't recommend. I enjoy sheesha, shisha, hookah water pipe on occasions and a good brand is adalya which is Turkish. However the flavours they sell are very very poor quality and fake - believe it or not, I bought some and it'll have to go straight in the bin as it's unusable. They'll tel you it's good but really, it's so not. The hookah pipes themselves can be purchased for 20€ for a medium and around 30-40 for a large, I wouldn't pay more.
The fruit, very and spice section in the centre is brilliant, a kg of delicious cherries £75p and they taste great, to compare I just bought 750g from M&S for £5.
Figs, apricots, watermelon the list goes on and is all cheap and delicious - prices are shown in front of items so you know what it costs. Lots of locals in this part of the market.
If you like designer hand bags there's millions to choose from, some look like the real thing and area quite cheap.
Replica football tops and tracksuits from all the big clubs.
Lots of trainers, Nike, Adidas, Jordan, designers too all cheap with the right negotiation.
Enjoy walking around and seeing whats on offer.
Practical advice:
-taking young children is possible but might be hard work as so much is going on and it'll be hot.
- always negotiate, I was told air Jordans are 39€ but I paid £12 for adult sizes even if you pay £15 it's good.
- don't just buy from the first stall ( golden rule), look around, take photos of the stuff you think you like so you can look back and compare ( stuff I thought was great to start with wasn't as good as other stuff I'd seen and looking back at pictures helped establish that). Always take a picture of the stall or shop so you remember what it looks like or called.
Euro, £ or lira are all accepted, I used £ and had no issues although I used lira for the bus journeys.
Take fluids with you to hydrate or purchase as it can be hot although it is covered from direct sunlight.
All in all if you want something to do on the Monday/Thursday and get out and possibly come back with bags of stuff then it's worth a visit
Visted manavgat market on Monday very busy lots to look at but very repetitive. Dont buy from first stall look around and even come back later in holiday if you have time as things vary in price and quality. Everything in euro and mostly all sheltered for hot or bad weather. Always haggle half the price and walk away they always come down. Dont buy the perfume. Thursday Market is the same but in different manavgat area but sligtly smaller.
Show more...Good points
Bought excellent lamps from a family run business which was the 2nd lamp store when I entered the market. They have wrapped it for me as well very nicely The sandals caps are also great for the price
Bad points
Got royally fooled by a perfume seller.
We had no intentions of buying any perfume but ALI from Karachi. be wary of this young man in his 20s speaks good English, talked about GOVID and poor business
Sprays the brand u like then washes it with water, the smell never changed and proved that the perfume is authentic.we ended up buying some came back to the hotel room and it’s nothing but water, the smell doesn’t not last even 5 minutes .
I’ve had such a nice time so far, this kind of cheating has saddened meespecially because I did not need perfumes and I ended up buying as gifts
I hope the money comes of good use to him although the perfumes are no good for me.
Thought I should share this here as generally everybody was great except for this boy who took two people who wished him well for a jolly good ride
Do not buy any high end perfumes in Turkey as they are fake water
According to fellow travelers, these are the best ways to experience Manavgat Market:
After reading other reviews on here, I was really excited to go and pick up some replica designer bags while on holiday. As we started going into a few shops/stalls prices around €300 were being batted around which we were surprised by but took as typical bartering down prices. I have bought similar items pre pandemic in other countries of similar quality and was expecting around €30-€40 for non leather and €60-€100 for leather goods. Bare in mind in the UK you can buy leather bags for around that price. It became very apparent very quickly we were completely priced out and there was no flexibility or real purposeful explanation to why these goods cost this much as they aren’t genuine products and in a lot of case the real product would only have cost a few £100 more. In one shop one man proceeded to tell my partner not to touch the bags even though he was checking the quality and the other man shouted us to get out when we questioned the price. How he sells anything I don’t know! The experience after this point was completely ruined and I found myself panicked and distressed after it that I didn’t want to stay any longer than I had to. I have to give an honourable mention to the shop owner my partner bought two kids PSG footy kits off! He was really pleasant and polite, even cracking jokes while bartering! Nice to know there is some nice individuals there! If you are going for clothing for brands like Nike etc then it’s probably worth the trip as you will probably get a good deal and the quality looked good but if you are looking for designer bags then don’t bother!
