We went to the restaurant and waited to be seated. A member of staff offered my wife and I a table for 2.
We politely asked 2 staff for a table near a window which was for 4 people however the staff refused although it was free and not reserved at that time. The restaurant was busy but there were vacant tables We were unhappy about this We ordered our Coffees and dessert and shortly after they came back and offered the table at the window,as another couple had arrived for a table . The staff member said that as we were there first we could have the table at the window after all.We moved to that table and our coffees arrived. We we’re sitting enjoying our coffee when the staff member approached our table and asked us to move tables yet again!. He mentioned the dessert was not yet ready to be served for a couple of minutes and asked us for our table stating that there was a party of 4 waiting for a table which included a person in a wheelchair . We were quite shocked at being asked to move yet again but felt pressured to do so .At this point we had to lift half finished coffees ,plates ,cutlery ,and napkins with no help from the staff and walk across to a table by the wall which had just been vacated.Eventually our dessert arrived but had very hard granola baked into the apple crumble which was hard to eat.We couldn’t wait to leave as we were both disgusted at the way we were treated, and while we were there no other customer was asked to move tables .We will not return to this restaurant. Who would want to be treated like that ? This was a degrading experience

The exhibition which is on at the moment is certainly worth a visit, with friendly staff very happy to talk with you about the various exhibits. I can not say the same for the particular member of staff who dealt with our order in the restaurant. We were actually ignored at one point while this particular member of staff cleaned every table around us and didn't seem to be aware that he needed to complete our order. Had hoped to visit the restaurant with visitors next week but now think it isn't worth the effort. Very disappointing.

Restaurant use to be great but what has happened? Been coming for years and use to look forward to it. Until now.
Is it new chef? Between wrong orders delivered and not the same quality I'm wondering has this place now had it? It ain't cheap and the higher end of lunch budget.

Beautiful gluten free brunch or lunch.Fresh GF scones and bread rolls or choice of freshe salads with beans.Busy restaurant with pretty garden area including sculptures by F.E.McWilliams. Great wee gallery to the side as well for a browse afterwards, A great find, next to the Outlet store before you exit it to the motorway.

I love coming here; always a soulful exhibition on, with a delicious home-made tea to keep you lingering. & no matter the weather, the sculpture garden is always a treat of treasures for adult & child.

This was my second visit to this location. The first being an excellent experience.
However on this ocassion We waited for over 10mins to be served. When the same waitress walked pased us for the 5th time without enquiring if we were being served.we just up and left.

Based on our first experience at this establishment we might go back!!

Very disappointed actually I was embarrassed to have taken people there, lamb over cooked to leather boot, vegetables raw, potatoes stone.
One meal we will remember for all the wrong reasons

Stopped off here for lunch. Lovely restayrant with waitress service- no queuing up for food. Very varied and tasty menu with food prepared fresh and presented beautifully. Unfortunately couldn't look round the sculpture garden due to snow and sleet but will visit again. Very easy to find just off A1 close to the Outlet Centre

'The Gallery' as it is affectionately known by the locals is an oasis of beauty just off the A1. The exhibitions are usually worth seeing but the magic of the Gallery is found in the sensuous architecture, the magnificent light, space and beauty imbued with the energy of McWilliam's sculptures.

Enjoy a picnic in the garden contemplating the sculptures, potter around McWilliam's studio, or treat yourself to leisurely lunch at Quails.
