Truffle hunting tours Alba

This experience was definitely once in a lifetime and a must do if you’re in the Alba Piedmont area!! We kept in contact with the owner through emails and Carlo was super responsive. There was no communication issues and he was also able to change their schedule around for us last minute. They provided us with a translator and guide during the experience. Provided us boots because it gets muddy!! Our truffle hunter Marco and his dog Layla have the sweetest and most amazing bond I’ve seen. Layla found not one but four truffles! I definitely recommend going through this company.

PS. When we got back to our hotel, we had a nice little package and surprise waiting for us with two jars of truffle honey.

I’ve always had a soft spot for truffles and as we were holidaying in Piedmont with the missus we stumbled upon this tour and decided to give it a go, BEST DECISION EVER!
Not only the tour was interesting but after we found a couple of truffles we got to taste them, o h m y g o d !!!
I would’ve stayed there just to be able to eat that fresh truffle every single day! Unforgettable taste, absolutely amazing and simple, and the family hosting the tour was exquisite too, totally recommended!

We wanted to go a tour with a truffle hunter and his dog to see how truffles are really found. We has a great experience indeed. A real specialist as a hunter, only 4 people in the tour (a little off season), nice autumn weather. And we found some big white truffles and smaller ones. We also learned a lot during the tour. As we were not Italien speaking, a translator was arranged.
We could also buy a truffle directly after the tour. So full circle.
Would do it again.

My wife and I recently book online the truffle hunting tour experience. We spent a full day in La Morra with Chef Antonio and his dog, doing truffle hunting experience in the Piedmont region. We tasted black and white alba truffles. I highly recommend using Antonio if you are visiting Piedmont region. In addition to the truffle hunting, and wine tasting, we were able to see Barolo, Barbaresco and La Morra area from various viewpoints. A great day!

I understand this was an unusual day for the guide, since it was in the middle of a record heat wave.

I had my reservation moved twice to a cooler time of the day (once a few days after I booked weeks in advance, and once a couple days before my reserved time). There was no exact address mentioned as a meeting point, just a location. I headed to this location, and had to bother some unlucky locals when their dog barked at me as I was looking for a meeting spot. I was then directed to the tourism office, where I mentioned that I booked a truffle hunting tour with TripAdvisor, and the concierge there called around until they found my guide. I was told to drive to a parking lot on the outskirts of the city, where I finally met up with my guide.

The actual truffle hunting experience was very interesting and enjoyable, through beautiful wine country, with a skilled interpreter accompanying the truffle hunting dog's owner. The dog found 5 black truffles, but we only got to keep two of them. It wasn't made clear if this was because of quality or if this was standard practice (in addition to my payment).

Then the interpreter recommended a delicious restaurant that incorporated our 2 truffles into a meat and pasta dish.

If you´re spenting some days in Piedmont Wine tours and truffles hunting experience are the best activity to do!
The Trifulau we meet is a very professional and expert person. During the truffle hunt,we´ve had the opportunity to walk through a real italian wood, and get in the know on how truffles grow, what is truffle, how can they be found, and even when white truffle is fresh.
The truffle hunting tour takes about 2 hours, followed by one truffle degustation, along with nice chat and best italian wine ( Barolo and Barbaresco wine).
It really worth the money invested.
