This was an excellent option for a morning with a three and a five year old. There were only three little ones on board so they got a lot of attention. Constant entertainment for the hour. Tattoo sea snake, picture with the captain (a very reasonable $6), raising the flag, water cannon battle with pirate Pete, Finding treasure, and grog. I think my son had as much fun as the grandkids. A delightful experience.

This was our fifth pirate cruise on the Sea Dragon in Ocean City NewJersey. We took the older grandchildren in 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014. Now in 2021, we took our younger grandchildren for their first pirate cruise. Each experience was excellent. The kids love it ! The adults have a ball. The crew has changed over the years, but everyone has been amazing. The kids raise the pirate flag, find treasure, drink grog and defeat Pirate Pete. Then they limbo on the way home. We highly recommend this activity.

We had an amazing experience. The crew was very nice and professional, they did a great job in acting the part and involving the kids in the adventure. My son, 5, loved shooting the water cannons and being engaged in the treasure hunting. All kids got a piece of the treasure in the end which was very nice and rewarding. The kids and parents danced and had a blast before we returned to shore. We will definitely do this again before the end of summer since we are local.

We had a good time with our 4 year old! Our 2 year old was a little young and was a bit scared by the pirate. The crew was very engaging and told jokes, sang some songs, etc we also liked using the map to find the treasure and getting a big handful of goodies from the buried treasure chest! Honestly, My family was very hesitant and a bit discouraged by the lack of Covid precautions, which is why I am giving them a 3 of 5 stars while more than half of the guests and kids were masked up, the crew did not wear masks at all! They offer to face paint or arm paint the kids and when I asked the crew member if he minded wearing a mask for this part (seeing as he was 1-2 feet away from my kids, I was told he didn’t have one. When I asked why his employer didn’t provide one, he replied that it was too hot and they weren’t required to wear them. I know it’s outside, on a boat, but these people are still very close to their guests. If the guests can wear masks while sweating on a boat, so can the crew. In the very least - at least for face painting. I would hate to find out one of these high school crew members unknowingly exposed dozens of children the business didn’t even seem to change any of their indoor protocols to be in accordance with state requirements. The cashiers inside were not wearing masks either and there were up to 8-10 people in very small area of the store. I think they really could have done more to protect their employees and guests!

The staff really did do a great job of acting the part and involving the kids in the pirate adventure, however this is definitely geared towards very young children, 6 and under. Unfortunately I would love to say that at least the boat ride itself was a pleasant experience however this was certainly not the case. This boat ride is a motion sensitive individual’s nightmare. It barely moves forward or gets above 10 mph. It mostly bounces in place and then repeatedly spins (and I mean spins) in circles. Over and over and over again. If you are someone that tends to get sea sick please do not go on this excursion.

My 8 year old son, grandmother, and I had a great time aboard the Sea Dragon. The captain and crew stayed in character, making us laugh the whole time. We were all impressed with the way they had stunts and other characters interacting with our ship!!! Very well done, and a fun activity to break up another beach day in the vacation week.

Pirate Adventures is SO much fun! Our 5 year old absolutely LOVED it! The pirate crew mates are local high school teenagers and they really were into playing their roles which made it so much fun. The ship captain was also wonderful. They all interacted with each other seamlessly, made us laugh, and it was incredibly interactive for the kiddos! They had to help the pirates read the map, tell the captain orders, dance and sing, it was a total blast. We loved watching the kids enjoy themselves. Will absolutely be recommending this to everyone!!

Some things to note:
Probably not good for babies/toddlers as they will struggle to walk on the boat and the interactions seem best for 4 and up (just my personal mom opinion :)).

The kids will get splashed a bit, so be prepared for wet feet and possibly wet clothes. Though it is easy to back away from where the water is splashing and they do have a no splash zone in the back of the boat. You will never be surprised with water so don’t fret! You’ll know when it is coming and the crew will let you know as well.

There is no bathroom on board, but they do have one at the dock prior to boarding so something to keep in mind.

Have fun!!

Our sons really enjoyed the Pirate Voyage In OCNJ! Very interactive, engaging and fun for kids of all ages. (Some kiddos under 2 weren’t fans) but the older kids really seemed to enjoy it. The crew made it a point to address kids by names and gave them active participants. Our boys especially loved shooting water off the boat at a pirate and getting wet themselves!

I have lost count of how many times we have battled Pirate Pete with the crew of the Sea Dragon. Our group this year included young children, teenagers and grandparents. As always , a great time , with a great crew.

The entire episode is well done and rehearsed over many years - it all goes well.

The only negative is that the crew should ask parents if it's necessary to sit in the ship's bow on the benches with their kids because when they do so, some children cannot find a place up front—parents who can and don't are rude.

This was our second time, will do it again in 2 years. Great time and nice to get off the beach with this activity.
