My family of 5 (wife and I plus our 16, 18 and 20 year old sons) were only in Sedona for one day so despite the weather (rainy and 45 degrees) we wanted to get an opportunity to explore Sedona. We called AZ Safari Jeep Tours and they were extremely helpful, friendly, and informative about what it would be like to take one of their "open air" jeeps that day. The jeeps have a see-through plastic canopy hanging over the seats (which the rain did obscure) so you are protected from above but have open air on the sides. They also provided blankets and ponchos (we used the blankets, not the ponchos). We did have pretty hard rain at times but only got a bit wet, and the blankets helped a lot.
As for the tour itself, we did a 2 hour custom sunset tour and started at 4:30PM. Wyatt was our guide and he was fantastic. Very well informed and very funny as well! He made sure we saw all the key sights and formations and the weather did clear up at times, luckily close to sunset, so we had an opportunity to see a few spectacular overlook points.
Dress warmly if the weather is cool! We wished we'd had a few more layers but we saw all the main sights, got some great insights into Sedona and its history, and enjoyed ourselves despite the weather. Thanks to Wyatt for a great tour and the office staff for advising us well!

Our Jeep ride with with John M. was great! We went out on a Monday night for a two hour ride with 4 adults and two teenagers and it was a great adventure. John was very knowledgeable about Sedona and was not afraid to tell you about the surrounding area so feel free to ask questions. Make sure to book your Jeep tour with Safari only! Oh, by the way, this was our second adventure with them too.

Here are a few tips. Arrive about 15 minutes early so you can get checked in and can leave on time. I highly recommend booking your ride in the late afternoon so you can see a Sedona sunset while on the ride. There are different trails they will take you on, so if you want rough and bouncing or “smooth” riding, make sure to tell them at your booking. You will get dusty and dirty, so wear appropriate clothing. They do provide bottled water but bring your own because it will be hot.

If you are worried about COVID 19, they wipe down all the needs after riding.

Please let me know if this was helpful.

Our tour guide, John, was amazing. He answered any questions we had, from mountains, hiking, sightseeing to best area restaurants and local hangouts. Also, we would definitely recommend this particular company, Arizona Safari Sedona Jeep Tour, because it is the only locally owned jeep company in Sedona. Its important to me to know that my money is staying local. The particular tour we went on, Diamondback Gulch, was really great too, especially at sunset. It was definitely thrilling and was happy to see so many "oh sh*t" handles to choose from in the jeep! Worth the money especially if you dont have a lot of time in Sedona, want to see as much as possible, looking for some great pictures and want some great recommendations for the best experiences for the rest of your trip. Our jeep mates were great too. Always fun to meet new people as well! Ask for John as your guide, he also has some great Kodak moment areas, I posted one of them below! Enjoy Sedona!

We booked through AZ Safari Jeep Tours figuring they were more of a local business than “Pink Jeep Tours”. We are thrilled we did! Our guide J.C. was extremely knowledgeable and had a true love for archaeology, paleontology, hieroglyphics etc he was just a wealth of knowledge—even our teenaged children enjoyed learning from him. We took the 3-hour Outlaw Trail tour and enjoyed every minute of it. J.C. pointed out interesting facts all along the trail as well as within the city of Sedona. He also gave us dinner ideas—we chose the Mesa Grill and we were not disappointed.

If you’re in Sedona this tour is a must; and if you can get J.C. as your tour guideI promise you won’t be disappointed.

Today we took the Outback jeep tour. The gator we rode in was very comfortable even the needed heated seats. The best part of the tour was the sunset and the beauty it created. The 2nd best was our guide "doc" he was very knowledgeable kept sharing information the entire time and words cannot describe how personable he was. If you have the chance for this experience I highly recommend the company and highly recommend asking for "doc" if possible!!

Notes on our tour guide Levi: very enthusiastic, super nice, gave us water, had a very enthusing attitude and performance during the tour, very funny, made lot of jokes, good driver, talked about the history of Sedona and the restaurants during the ride. Offered ponchos because it was raining. Stopped at the “vortex” and showed a really awesome experiment with copper wire rods! Took pictures of us and our groups and just stayed out watching the sunset for a good hour and talking about the history of the red rocks and cool background stories. Really awesome tour! Definitely would go again and 10/10 recommend!!

We booked a 2-hour private Jeep tour to learn more about Sedona and its history. Lee was a great driver and guide who took us to some great spots we ordinarily wouldn’t have seen including recommending some stops where we could take excellent photographs. Thanks for a great day, Lee!

I'm not going to lie, as a Phoenix resident, my expectations for a touristy jeep tour were not all that high prior to booking the Vortex Experience. I had friends visiting from Kansas, so I thought it might be interesting to them as I was for sure not a tourist ;). How wrong I was. From the minute we left the check in point, to our arrival back two and half hours later, our guide Lea provided us with fascinating and inciteful information about not only the two vortex sites that we visited (Rachel's Noll and Amitabha Stupa), but also Sedona and how it came to be. She was extremely personable and fun, and kept us entertained the entire time. She knew fun facts about things we drove by on the way (like pointing out Madonna's house) and also knew the best views to take the best pictures (which she took for us herself). My friend who was visiting is very in to crystals, and meditation and metaphysics, but even if you aren't (like myself) you will still enjoy the tour and the education provided at each stop. I would highly recommend this tour as it really does represent what Sedona is all about and offers great views and scenery of the red rocks and insight in to Sedona's history.

My grown kids and I did the 2-hour sunset tour and it was fantastic!!! Our guide Lea was wonderful- full of great stories, fun, personable, and had so much good info to share. My kids and I are still talking about all the stories! Bonus was that she took us an area not on the official tour to show us a better view of the red rocks. That was really special and I so appreciated her willingness to do something like that. There were a couple photographers in our group and she was super at stopping whenever they wanted to capture a shot. Really appreciated this flexibility and would highly recommend this sunset tour. It was really perfect! Only concern is that we are still in covid and no one was required to wear a mask and there wasn't social distancing in the big jeep- I think there were 10 of us packed together. My kids and I wore masks and once we started driving I was less concerned because it was outside and the wind was strong. Otherwise, highly highly recommend this tour group! Have heard that the pink tours operate more strictly, more a tour machine, whereas this group is much smaller and the drivers seem really invested in making a great experience for each customer. Bravo!

My husband and I were on a bucket list trip planned a year ago around a wedding. The wedding was postponed due to COVID, but we kept our 3 week trip, staying socially distanced and safe. Our friends recommended a jeep tour in Sedona, and we researched and picked Arizona Safari Jeep Tours. We are so glad we did. Our guide on the "Outlaw Trail" was John. He was amazing, knowledgeable, friendly and fun. We could not have asked for a better guide and driver through the bumpy and fun terrain. We will highly recommend this adventure and John our wonderful guide.
