“Come on kids, there’s lots to see and do. Your adventure is just beginning!” Bet you’ve never heard a goat yodel or a potato talk, but you will at Sundown Market, and with your help all the animals in the musical pet shop will join in the chorus of their very own song. Explore the Rodeo Corral Indoor Play Area and climb aboard the Rocky Mountain Railroad, but hold onto your hats folks, those pesky bandits are popping up everywhere. Be careful not to wake the dragon as you enter the Lollipoppet castle with all its smells of candy. Then its on to the Tractor Ride for a trip around the countryside before talking to the animals on our Animated Farm. Grab those bows and arrows and climb aboard the Robin Hood Ride to join Robin and his merry men as they travel through Sherwood Forest. Then its onto Crash Landings – our fantastic four storey indoor play area and cafe, climb and explore the jungle where you may get a surprise from a cheeky monkey or a slippery snake. Run, swing and play in our bright and colourful Angry Birds Activity Park. Take a spin on the Okie Yolkie ride and bounce along on the Giddy Piggies ride. Don’t Forget to sing and dance along with the Monkeys at Monkey Mischief. Ahoy there! Time to take to the Jolly Pirate Ride – but you better watch out, for who knows were those wicked pirates are lying in wait with a surprise or two! Don’t forget your buckets and spades – you’ll need them in Captain Sandy’s Play Cove. But no one can be scared of the delightful little friends whose lovely scenes lead us through the seasons on to the magical Sleigh Ride through Santa’s traditional winter wonderland, hey, what's that reindeer doing in bed?! when your ready for a break, take the kids for a snack or a treat in one of our cafes or shops where there are lots of goodies available. Also don’t forget, we’re open at Christmas, so come along and ride our fantastic night before Christmas ride before visiting Santa in his Lovely home and receive a free gift for all children aged 2 to 10 years .
Show more...We have just returned from our second trip to Sundown Adventureland in the last 12 months and I have to say this is turning into one of my favorite parks in the UK. We visited back in October when our daughter was 2, and returned this week for her 3rd birthday and she absolutely loved it all. When we pulled up into the car park, her face lit up as she remembered coming last year.
This is a park for under 10's and is perfect for Toddler's who can ride everything in the park no problem. If you come with older children, there probably won't be much for them here, unless they are coming with younger siblings of course.
We visited off peak this time mid week, and were given a ride timetable on arrival as the rides rotate opening throughout the day, this wasn't an issue as it's clearly advertised on the website, although it seemed the message didn't reach some families
We were never stuck for things to do, as only 3 rides would be closed at a time as the staff rotated.
The park also has 2 huge soft plays, if your local to the area, the annual pass price would be worth it just for the soft plays alone, both heavily themed and could spend all day in there if you wanted to. Crash Landings was one of the most impressive soft plays I have ever seen.
All the staff at the park were excellent and created a fun atmosphere for all the kids.
The whole park is very heavily themed, especially the cowboy western area, this is the absolute highlight of the park.
The longest que we stood in all day was just 10 minutes at peak time, apart from that the whole park was pretty much walk on.
The only thing I think the park needs at the moment is maybe a small junior roller coaster, nothing huge, just maybe something similar to the Farmyard Flyer at Paultons Park. This would really top the place off nicely and would attract more visitors to the park which it really deserves.
The park is getting investment though as they are currently building an entertainment arena near the driving school which I presume will house some shows, which is great to see.
We will absolutely be back soon, and can't wait for our return to Sundown. Keep up the great work!
Have been to sundown several times over the last 2 years with our granddaughter whi is now almost 4. It’s a lovely park targeted at young children. This is the first time however we have been in September and I was disappointed with the restricted times of opening on the rides. We went mid July this year and paid the same price however the rides on that occasion were open all day. Although there were not crowds at the park today 9 September, the limited times the rides were open resulted in fairly long queues, longer than July . However this did not spoil the day and our granddaughter had a lovely day. Park is extremely covid compliant and can not do anymore to ensure the safety of their guests. Staff also very pleasant. A bonus was the fabulous weather we had. There is plenty to keep young children occupied and we will hopefully be here again next year
Show more...So very disappointed with our visit to see Santa at Sundown. We felt rushed as soon as we entered Santa’s room by both Santa and Mrs Claus. It was a long wait for young children for what was quite honestly a rubbish experience. I felt so disappointed for my children. Santa had no rapport with the children and both he and Mrs Claus just seemed to want us gone from the room as quickly as possible. They both made us feel like an inconvenience. There were about 5 different Santas all seeing children at the same time and the place wasn’t particularly busy so there really didn’t seem to be any need to rush. Since our visit I have read similar reviews from this year on here and on Facebook of other people feeling rushed too so it wasn’t just us who felt this way. To try and give some balance, the couple in the queue in front of us obviously went in before us but came out after us so they got more time with their Santa so we may have just got unlucky with the Santa we saw.
I have wanted to visit Sundown at Christmas for so long but I won’t ever return at Christmas and certainly wouldn’t recommend the experience to anyone else. I have had better experiences at local garden centres which are also a good deal cheaper. What I will say is that aside from Santa and Mrs Claus all the other staff in the park were great, the elves supervising the queue for Santa were very friendly and jolly. It was absolutely pouring with rain all day on the day we visited and the staff manning the rides were lovely and friendly even though some of them were wet through!
If you are looking for a safe park to take your youngsters in the current pandemic this has to be top spot. Ushered into alternate parking bays upon entry we then joined a long but fast moving queue. As we neared the front everybody went through a tent and had their temperature taken, hands sanitised and were sent in. We had 4 in our party (two adults and two children under 90cm). We had booked online and paid £29 total.
The park is laid out into several areas such as:
Wild West,
Santa Rides,
Robin Hood,
Candy Castle (smells amazing!),
Jungle,
Farm,
Mini village,
Angry birds,
Pirates (squirts water!!) and much more.
Queues for rides were small, with several rides having no queue at all (infancy we did the tractor ride 4 times before the next customer.
The park is easy to access with a pushchair or buggy. Parking is right outside.
We had a brilliant day and purchased a couple of reasonably priced souvenirs for the kids. Sundown has always been amazing but it’s the best experience we’ve had in the current pandemic. Credit to the staff for being so polite (especially the tall bearded guy operating the tractors and pirates cove, he was great!).
Two years in a row we’ve been for my sons birthday and he absolutely loves it! There’s so much to do! And most of it is just as I remember as a kid. So why knock one star off? Well some buttons on the animatronics don’t work and a fresh lick of paint won’t go a miss, I understand it’s open all year round but during lock down most companies took this as an opportunity to do the place up, sundown was the exception here. Also the food options are absolutely awful, tasteless and overpriced so if you’re not lazy like us then would recommend taking a pack up. Okay back to the positives: it’s a wonderful place where children can let their imaginations go crazy! Lots of fun climbing and rides too. Staff are cheerful! When quiet they let you just go round and round on the rides. Will be back every year until he’s too old and probably be back this Christmas as Santa’s sleigh was his favourite!
Show more...Not one for often reviewing but have to commend all at sundown for an excellent effort all round on making the reopening as safe and as normal as possible. You have smashed the term ‘Covid secure’ Out of the park and made our daughters second birthday the day to remember it was. From the Quick and effortless temperature checks and entry system to the park itself it was faultless in every way. Management please pass on the feedback to staff As each and every one of them worked tirelessly cleaning every seat, handrail and carriage Before every use (and I was watching trying to pick fault and couldn’t). Carriages and rides were filled by every other carriage so everyone was kept well apart and things were clearly marked with one way arrows and signs without it feeling restricted in any way. Catering staff, shop staff and those cleaning were friendly, helpful and all had a smile on their faces. Just a small amount of bits unable to be used for obvious reasons but such a pleasure to see kids allowed to be kids enjoying everything again. The low numbers meant everyone was kept safe with zero queues apart from a couple of the rides which needed individual carriages filling on a family by family basis thus taking longer (and by longer I mean no more than a 10 min wait tops). Plenty of hand sanitizer stations and finally Spotless toilets that are open to be used (hooray we all cheer). Nice to see the addition of the new food seating area In the crash landings restaurant foyer. How did we ever question how you could open an adventure park amidst a pandemic and keep everyone safe. Well done, well done, well done.
Show more...Great value for under 8's. With covid19 they have everything right only, every other parking space. Plenty of sanitiser and cleaning of rides, cleaning of bins etc. The only place they got it wrong was for the tractor ride. Queuing inside made it impossible to social distance, noisy and the snake system meant you were always under 1 metre from anyone. Shame because otherwise perfect.
Show more...As i kept reminding my toddler throughout our visit to Sundown Adventureland: 'It's Pets Corner' while stubbornly refusing to acknowledge its new name. Those of a certain vintage will have fond memories of Pets Corner and sadly the pets are long gone but theres still plenty of rides and attractions to keep younger children entertained even if the odd parts of the park are a bit dated.
We visited during term time and it was absolutely empty, we almost had the full park to ourselves asside from the other odd couple of families. Walking around the empty theme park was very surreal, it was like visiting the abandoned fun fair next to Chernobyl.
All the staff were great, really friendly with our little lad, we'll definately go again when he's a bit older. Now to visit the other old theme parks I remember visiting as a child, all aboard for Gullivers Kingdom and Amaerican Adventure (The latters long gone unfortunately).
Visited on Good Friday Bank Holiday as a family of five, including a 4 year old boy, 2 year old girl and 6 month old boy. All of us had a fantastic day! We had been tentative about how busy it might be (plenty of space, queues moved quickly), whether theming might be tired as some have said (lots of it is like new and the older looking stuff just has character, the kids don't mind), how many rides we might all get on together (surprisingly 5 rides took children of any age, which was amazing) and lastly whether we might have any problems on the dreaded adult:child ratio (nope!). The weather was also incredible so we were able to picnic outside, with a mixture of things we took and bought there (not overpriced) and found an outdoor table with ease by Toy Town. Our 4 year old loved the tractor ride the most, which was really nicely themed including sound effects and the tractors themselves very new looking. Our 2 year old most liked the piggy ride and the ostrich ride, bouncing up and down. Our 6 month old was a little unhappy about getting wet on the pirate barrel ride, but was mesmerised by the Santa's sleigh Christmas ride. The Robin Hood horse and Wild West train rides were also brilliant. The themed areas such as the fairytale story houses and the liquorice allsorts castle were great for the children to explore, although be careful in the smugglers cove area because all the houses around the outside are connected by very small passages and its easy to lose track of your children inside them! Fort Apache playpark was also a massive hit and in fact all of the playparks dotted around the place were great to let the children run off steam, with plenty of seating for parents who need a rest or to breastfeed. Lastly I would like to thank the ride staff, who were all super friendly and really engaged with the children, they genuinely seem to enjoy their work and that made a big difference compared to the usual bored and sullen faced ride attendants at other places! Thank you Sundown, will definitely return.

Really poor management, for one it is hideously over priced, half of the place hasnt been updated in 30 years. It is seriously out dated, half of it needs a lick of paint or in case of all the demonic animated creatures, throwing into the depths of lucifers toilet, you allowed in way too many people in today for the amount of staff you had. Very good social distancing on the rides and good hygeine protocol but no social distancing in the queue. On the protocol of cleaning after every ride, thats all well and good but because this is a cost to yourselves as a buisness this needs to be done quicker by allocating more staff, 35 minutes wait for a 30 second ride is disgusting
Show more...Also lets talk about the map, toilets are marked in blue, which only shows 1 for the whole site, ps at the saloon there is another which we noticed after been there for 5 hours with 3 kids and multiple trips to the toilet from either end of the park
Rides: queues too long, the only decent ride is the boats (which says you "may get wet", which actually means you are definatly getting piss wet through). This was the only smoothly operated ride today. Enough staff, queues were long but thats due to greedy management trying to earn more money.
Some of the rides the queues were too long and we had no intention of waiting an hour to ride a tractor on a track with 1970s animated animals in it.
The outdoor adventure area is pretty good, good slides and fun for the kids, angry birds bit is good. The other sections are just old fashioned and dull, unless there is some major improvements we will not be returning as gullivers have just opened a new place closer to home.
Also the shop is full of TAT. Cheap looking toys you would find at cleethorpes market and definitely priced wrongly.
Even the logo and the branding makes it look amateur.
Sorry for the honest (bitchy) review but seriously did not enjoy the trip.
