York Maze offers an amazing day out with over 20 rides, shows and attractions, many under cover. The giant Maize Maze is the largest in Europe with a new design to solve each year. Come face to face with the giant dinosaurs in the Jurassic Maize, watch the fun and games on stage in the Crazy Maze show, zoom down the Corn Snake slides and puzzle over the mind-bending rooms and illusions in the House of Cornfusion! Take your seat on the NEW Crowmania tractor & trailer ride to encounter amazing animatronic animals and theatrical surprises. Be warned you will get wet on this ride! Also open at Halloween for terrifyingly entertaining nights of fear and fun at Hallowscream (16+), five haunted house attractions, live stage acts roving characters and more! During the day the slightly less intense Hallowtween is aimed at 10-15 years olds and their brave parents! Tickets for York Maze and Halloween events must be booked online. Tickets are not available on the gate.
Show more...When to Halloscream on the first night did RIP tickets, such good value, most we queued for houses was 10 minutes. All 5 housed were amazing, I have done Halloween at universal Orlando for years and the houses were as good here. Well Done - an amazing night. Didn’t get to see the show. Good stall selling Halloween goods. Various food stalls, pizza, dirty fries, sweet baked goods, and others I don’t remember, all good prices and good portions. Scare actors amazing. This event was so well organised and totally scary - would so recommend will definitely go back every year now!
Show more...Booked a group of nine to go to hallowtween on 31st October, myself, my husband and two of our children weren’t feeling great the day before the event so got covid tested the day before the event. We all tested positive for covid receiving the results first thing in the morning of the event. I rang york maze and explained the situation. We had to either cancel the whole booking (of 9 people as we had booked altogether) and they’d transfer the day out to next year (no refund) or the five people that weren’t covid positive could still go but I would lose out on the cost of my 4 tickets at 16.50 each. I rang at 9am and was told I literally had one hour to get in touch with the other people and decide what to do as they needed to resell their tickets…..
The other five people still wanted to go, so I lost out on my four tickets, as explained previously, you had to either change the whole booking or lose the money on the people that couldn’t go. So I lost out on 66 pounds. They wanted proof of covid positive results if I wanted to change the whole booking which I could of supplied, but still would not of resulted in me being refunded or letting the other half of the party still attend.
I think this is really bad considering most other companies/events have been supportive of people testing positive throughout the pandemic and refunding them without a quibble, as they don’t want people turning up with positive results.
The people that did attend the event really enjoyed it and would come back again. Not sure I would. Seen as it’s a legal requirement to isolate and I had no option to attend.
We visited for Hallowtween which is designed for 11-15 year olds though us mums found it scary too!
They do an evening event Hallowscream, which by all accounts is terrifying - think scary monsters chasing you through corn fields! This even is designed to be scary but no-one chases you.
It was in the most enormous barn with four different 'houses' to visit. This was during Covid so each family group went in with space between the group following. The displays and effects were very scary!
All throughout there was a band of actors dressed in amazing costumes wandering around and engaging us all. They also did a dance to various suitable music that was brilliant.
The food was great too! I thought we would be in and out in 45 mins but spent nearly 3 hours. The fact that it was daytime did not effect the whole ambiance.
Highly recommend and we will go again next year.
We went to the Halloween experience as a family with a 13 year old and a 10 year old. It was so good and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The actors/actress were amazing and kept us entertained between visits to various the houses. The only thing that let it down was the difficulty in ordering food. A covid safe operation was in place where you ordered the food online and it was delivered to your table. The problem with this is there is very little coverage at the maze so we couldn't actually get on the website without walking round the place until we got a better signal, but even then it was hit and miss. This didn't ruin our day whatsoever and when we did eventually order the food it was hot and lovely. Thanks for a good day out.
Show more...This is probably the best day out we've had and we do get about!
Arrived at 11m and left at 6pm and still didn't get chance to get around everything as there's so much to enjoy. Fabulous value for money and more puns than you can imagine, but they do make you laugh.
All the staff are so enthusiastic and friendly. The crowmania ride is AMAZEing and big shout out to MAYA who really made us giggle , worked the crowd and kept us entertained. Really CORN't recommend this place enough for all ages (our 3 and a half yr old had the best day, especially loving the dinosaur maze)
It was well worth the 1hr20min drive and will definitely return.
Don't hesitate , get it booked!!
We visited both flamingoland and lightwater valley during our week long trip and York Maze blew them both out the water. What a fantastic day! As a family of 4 we spent over 7 hours here. So much to do. The kids (9 and 7) were reluctant to participate on the tractor ride as there was a threat of “being soaked” however it was minimal and the best part of the day. The entertainment team throughout the whole day worked their backsides off and even though it was week 7 of 7 they was no dent in their enthusiasm or hilarity. The two girls who did the pig racing and the cournoels house party need a big pay bonus. Who knew there were so many crow or corn puns. Food great!, Almost zero queues and perfect weather to top it off. Went to see a big maze but it’s so much more. We had one of the best days out as a family in a long time.
Show more...What an incredible day out. We arrived at opening time and had around 7 hours but still didn’t get to do and see everything. My 7 year old had a fantastic day and is desperate to visit again soon.
The giant maze took us about an hour to complete and we had such a giggle getting lost and trying to complete the puzzles. The crowmania ride was amazing and definitely the highlight of our day but everything was so good.
We ate at the kernels kitchen and the food was reasonably priced I thought plus cooked fresh and nice and hot. They were also quite large portions and we really enjoyed.
It was very busy but queues moved quickly and we didn’t feel as though it was overcrowded or too busy.
All the staff were lovely and friendly and my daughter really enjoyed the interactions she had with them.
Simply a - maze - ing
York Maze is an annual visit for our family - it never fails us! This year a particular favourite was the new and improved Crowmania Ride - Josh was a fantastic guide and the Crowman very entertaining. Queue times were a max of 10 mins on what I presume was a sold out day, so another plus. My 9-year old daughter has decided she wants to be the Sweetie mascot when she grows up! Thank you and see you next year.
Show more...Visited Hallowscream on 23rd Oct (Sunday) with some nervous friends. Absolutely excellent from start to finish. Having previously been to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal in the USA, I was expecting a slightly watered down version, but it was anything but, and we all loved every minute of it.
The rooms were detailed and atmospheric with plenty of monsters hiding around corners ready to give everyone a good scare. We enjoyed them all, but perhaps the Flesh Pot and Clowns being the most memorable, but all were excellent with their own details to set them apart.
Queues weren't too bad when we went - probably took around 2 hours to complete all 5 rooms, which was fine as we could catch up with friends in the queues which never took more than 15 mins or so. No significant queues for food or drink either, although we noticed that things seemed to get busier as the night went on. Food was fine, and the pulled pork and fries went down a treat with our party.
Friendly staff throughout and plenty of actors in costume wandering around and interacting with the guests to help keep the atmosphere.
Obviously, it's not the cheapest attraction you'll ever find, but given the number of people involved with it and the attention to detail given, as well as the relatively short period of time it runs for, there is certainly some justification for it. We'll certainly be back again in future.and in greater numbers!

I took my 9 year old son yesterday to the Hallowtween event and we both had a great time. We went in all 4 of the themed rooms and the flesh pot was our favourite. There were regular shows on in the main tent and we also enjoyed looking at the owls in the owl tent. There were a few fairground rides that were extra money to go on. These should maybe have been included in the price. We knew the usual York maze full availabilty of attractions wouldnt be open but felt it was a shame that they were all shut. Its a shame the bouncy pillows and maybe the snake slides or something werent open at least.
Show more...There were a small handful of actors around scaring people outside. My son loved the man with the chainsaw. However there were no actors at all in any of the scare tents which was disappointing. I know it was supposed to be tamed down for the younger age range but i feel a few actors could have been inside without necessarily been too scary. I felt like we were just walking around empty corridors at times, waiting for stuff to happen that didnt.
We had seen on the website that food was available so decided to eat there. Never again. The queue was long and very slow moving. The food was very overpriced at £7.50 for a “dead good” burger with bacon which was actually dead tasteless and most of it went in the bin. We also got the churros which we thought at £5 would be big enough to share between the 2 of us, but was actually 4 finger sized churros not really big enough for 1 person.
Overall we had a great time and will probably visit again next year. However we will eat before we come next time as there is no way im standing in those long slow food queues to pay extortionate prices for tasteless food.
