I needed somewhere to stay for a restful few days travelling from Norwich to Edinburgh and am I so glad I found this little gem on Booking.com _ I thought it looked fine online and the price was very good. When I arrived to a warm welcome I was surprised at how lovely the house actually was. Firstly it’s immaculately clean and so warm and cozy. A very beautiful Victorian house maintaining that period feel with a subtle contemporary flavour. I was upgraded to a larger double with a bed the size of a Cadillac!! I’d happily live in that room overlooking the little park beside the house. Free onsite parking and wonderful breakfasts overlooking the park. The staff were warm and welcoming every day. 2 minutes walk down the hill there’s the convention centre and another 2 minutes you’re in the middle of happening Harrogate. Very pleased with my stay…

My wife and I have stayed several times in Harrogate but this small hotel must have slipped under the radar and glad we have now tried it. We booked what was advertised as a cosy double, but to be honest it was big enough for anyone with king bed and even a bath and shower. A very nice room. Breakfast very good quality with fresh fruit salad, kellogs cereals, not the cheapy alternative and a very nice cooked breakfast served on nice hot plates. Staff friendly and no petty restrictions with also ample free parking. Location fine unless you are disabled or lazy, perhaps a 7 min walk to town centre restaurants etc and a nice quiet location is the reward. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and good value for the quality of accommodation and breakfast. No hesitation to recommend even for a discerning guest and we will return Edward and Christine McAlpine

A last minute trip to Harrogate. Booked the morning of travel on Booking.com Easy booking. Booked a larger double bed and wasn't disappointed. Hotel very warm and inviting. Parking quite tight but free and welcome. Rooms a good size. Bathrooms well eqipped. Hotel very quiet at night and shutters on windows great at keeping the room dark. Beds very comfortable. Bedding good quality. Spotlessly clean. Didn't use the bar but looked inviting and cosy. Breakfast up there amongst the best we have had. Haddock and poached egg. Beautiful coffee. We will definitely be returning.

As I walked in I was met with very friendly and polite staff, as I entered my room I was greeted by a spacious, clean and tidy room. My breakfast was lovely and so was our drinks. It was one of the best hotels I have been to in a while.

A pleasant hotel with nice rooms and a short walk into town (although it is uphill on the way back). Tight parking on-site, but not a problem for our medium sized car. Our room was clean and had a walk-in wardrobe. The only issue for me was the toilet flush which is a press button and, with my arthritic hands, I was unable to operate properly (luckily, my wife didn't have the same problem). Breakfast was ordered at the table, both cooked and continental, and they catered for gluten-free and dairy-free. The only thing I found a bit odd was that we never had any contact with anyone who appeared to be a manager or owner. I would use this hotel again.

Lovely older style hotel in a quiet area of Harrogate. The bedrooms have modern furnishings, and were very comfortable. We had a cosy double but it was well appointed and there was plenty of room. Everything was clean and as we were at the back of the hotel, there was no noise from the road. Breakfast is cooked to order, and you can also request the usual continental options. We really enjoyed the cooked Yorkshire breakfasts. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and service at breakfast was very efficient! There is a nice quiet bar area past reception and you can ring a bell to request a drink up until 10pm. We had a friendly chap serve us a drink on a Saturday evening and had the bar to ourselves for a night cap. It's less than a 10 minute walk into the centre of Harrogate. There is also a Sainsbury's express and a few takeaways, cafes etc. on the same road. I would return again next time we visit Harrogate!

Second time we've stayed at this hotel. Really nice, small hotel, beautifully clean and lovely rooms (we stayed in the Turret room). About a 10 minute walk from the town centre with on site parking (although tight). Friendly welcome, very good service with an excellent breakfast. Note no evening meals offered. Highly recommended

We wanted a small comfortable hotel for our wedding anniversary and so we chose Ascot House. What an amazing find. This gorgeous Victorian Hotel blew us away. Warm welcome from Claudia as we arrived, beautifully decorated throughout, and a stunning room with a kingsize bed and plenty of room around. Luxuary bedding, towels and bathrobes added to the personal touch. The breakfast was too was amazing. Well presented and perfectly cooked. It was served by Claudia who also brought us some champaign to celebrate our anniversary in style. We only travelled 24 miles to get there, but it would be the first call we make if every visiting Harrogate again. We absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a peaceful romantic getaway.
