My partner and I have loved this place since discovering it nearly four years ago. Not sure when/if we will be coming back.
We stayed the night after driving 12 hours, looking forward to spending a few hours during our reservation in the Greenhouse, only to find that not a single person was wearing a mask, despite precautions listed on the website when we reserved, the current state health order, and signs posted outside the main doors.
Few of the kitchen staff were even wearing masks.
Not responsible, or conscientious of guests coming long distance to visit.
We visited these hot springs after a recommendation from our tour guide at the Great Sand Dunes.
The pools are very nice and the food was quite good. The adults only area seemed like a great place to relax, but due to having children with us we couldn’t spend much time in there. The main pool was a little too packed for my liking, but at least everyone was very nice. Could be that we just went on a really busy night.
A fun place to visit with good food, but would have enjoyed if we could have spread out in our own space a little more.
Amazing place to say the least!! The staff was wonderful and so incredibly helpful and accommodating. They truly went above and beyond to make our experience a memorable one. Great place for families and or an adult getaway. We would highly recommend the Sand Dunes Recreation Hot Springs Pool to anyone. Five stars in our book. Can't wait to see you all again soon! Show more...We’ve been coming to the Sand Dunes Pool with our kids to camp and swim for 15 years. We love the pool and they’ve done so many nice improvements over the years. The campground used to be quite pretty but now the trees are dead - so no shade - and the grass is dead so it’s a dust and weed-filled lot. And that’s the nice part with water and electric hook ups. I understand there’s a terrible drought but this region is perennially in a drought.
Show more...This was our third visit to the Sand Dunes Recreation Area , twice before camping (great!) and first at staying a night at a small rental “glamping” cabin. What a treat! The tiny cabin #1 was beautifully decorated and we were treated to a luxurious regular bed equipped with high thread count sheets and comfy comforter.
Having enjoyed the warmth of the shower/bathroom facility when camping we were comfortable with lack of running water in our cabin.
(Foot pumped faucets at base of cabin sink worked well.)
Only a washcloth and hand towel were included but towels can be checked out gratis. We wish we’d done so the night before our showers. Still the hand towel and washcloth worked for us.
Don’t miss the Grwen Room for adult soaking and gourmet food!
This place is amazing. We camped and teens had fun in large pools. Mask wearing is limited but its hard to wear in water. Greenhouse was an unexpected treat with great beer selection and awesome food. My only complaint is when camping the restrooms/laundromat is filled with locals and I had several times when bathroom wasn’t available and folks showering. Thankful for the porta potty.
Show more...The pool area is really nice, The water is very warm like 90 degrees + I was surprised about that but I got used to it and at night is was comfortable. Great area with grass and a little creek if you have dogs .The greenhouse was a little weird kind of dark and a lot of people making out in the tubs. Cleanliness was suspect stuff floating on top of tubs, slimy steps, a lot of people in a relatively small space.
Now for the RV park- spaces are a bit small for all the land they have out here they could have made them wider. Get spots 1 or 10 if available. No sewer hookup. The worst part is all the mosquitos and flies possibly due to a drainage ditch pretty close to the sites. Not terrible but I wouldn't stay again. If the spots were larger and had sewer the pool may entice us back.
This place is excellent! We have visited 4 times (3 pre-covid and 1 post-covid). It is always wonderful and just as good as the last time. The food is top notch and the service excellent! We use the greenhouse every time we visit and tend to stay the entire day. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the accommodations. If you have your own RV, no problem! However, if you don't, we don't recommend the cabins. They are small and the bed is extremely uncomfortable. On previous visits, we have stayed in the cabins. On our last visit, I slept on the floor. This time, we stayed at Joyful Journey in a yurt. If Sand Dunes Recreation had accommodations where you didn't need your own RV, they would get 10 stars.
Show more...We were disappointed because the adult area the pool was barely warm. I doubt we go back. To be more organized the first door they should check your ID give you the wrist band. Then when you go to the Adult area you don’t have to be hassled a second time to re enter. Makes no sense the way they have it now. Pay in one spot not twice .

The camping was fine. It had everything we needed for our RV stay. We stayed 3 nights. We were able to do laundry, have electricity, water, and able to dump (which is always a plus). We booked 2 swim days and rented boards for the sand dunes. I was VERY disappointed in the staff at the pool though. The people at the restaurant and cooks were NOT wearing mask. We were going to eat but when we saw that we changed our mind. The staff that were cleaning the shower house didn’t have mask on either. Very disappointing during a time like this when the city requires.
