I've climbed many times, but this was the first time for my girlfriend and a friend who aren't experienced at all and wanted to take things easy.

We went up the Watkin Path, in my opinion the best scenic route up as you pass water falls and rivers, a castle and get close to the ridge higher up, if you dare, for some epic views. Took us 4 hours up at a very leisurely pace taking lots of photos and stopping frequently.

We went down the Miner's track, again, in my view, the most scenic route down as you pass the two lakes near the bottom and get the full view of the ridge and summit as you go down. Took 4 hours down, but that including swimming in the lake at the bottom sounds mad, it is very cold but if you have a dry set of clothes I highly recommend it!

We were very lucky with the weather, but it was changing very very fast while were there. Do not underestimate it

Upon a week of adventures which took me to the Yorkshire dales, the lake district, Scotland and south and west Wales, I took a trip to Snowdonia to tick that mountain off my bucket list.
I arrived around midnight after a day on the road and managed to find parking outside the YHA.
The early morning was busy with keen climbers but very nice and talkative. I used the YHA cafe before I set off and the staff in there were very helpful, polite and friendly (especially the one with the crazy curly hair, she was lovely)
I checked a few routes and made sure I hasld plenty of water and some snacks and off I went.
The change in weather and temperature really made it feel exciting, from bits of sun shine, to misty fog, and some strong gales, its everything I expected and looked forward to. Its a challenging climb, but we all know that right!? If you plan to climb a mountain you'd make sure you're fit and able to complete it rather than be a snowflake and moan its too hard?
There were children from a very young age making it to the top which shows a bit of will power everyone can do it.
The views at the top were spetacular, real windy but I was stood above the clouds, even made some shadow dancing pics on the clouds, real epic.
I'd highly recommend adding this to your bucket list, unless you're a snowflake, lazy, moany, don't like a bit if hard work or climbing mountains or expect it to be easy, ITS A MOUNTAIN.
Take refreshments, use the toilets before you go and pop in the YHA for a coffee and jacket potato after, it was delish!

I’d highly recommend starting your ascent to the peak from 07:00am as there won’t be many people on the tracks. We started on the pyg track and found it to be the best way to get to the summit as it took us, a pair of unseasoned hikers just over 2 hours to reach the top from the bottom.

On the way back we decided to go back down the miners path as it promised a flatter surface for our feet, however it is a steep decline to the bottom and your shins, knees and ankles can take a battering if you rush down, so just go down at your own pace.

Miners path is a lot more scenic with lake views, but personally, I wouldn’t recommend it for the ascent as it is quite steep to get up compared to the pyg route which is more of a steady incline.

Once you’re at the top all the hard work and effort is worth it, you’ll thank yourselves for it getting up earlier and setting off earlier too!

We did Llamberis Path in June as a family of 6. Parking was £8 per car opposite the train station (the train to the summit of snowdon).

We aren’t fitness freaks but are keen walkers, not the fittest though.

The path starts off on tarmac up a steepish incline as you get to the gate to start the walk. From there it’s a gradual(ish) climb with some steeper bits in between. We passed a group of school kids who looked like they were enjoying it. The path is okay for the first half of the walk. Once you get past halfway house it starts to get a bit tougher. The weather on our trip started off lovely and sunny and by the time we got here we couldn’t see anything around us. Once you get under the railway bridge, it got fairly tough and steeper and the path carries on to the right (staying steep) after a few hundred metres it starts to get less steep. As you near the summit there’s a load of stairs to climb which are a lovely thigh burner to remind you of what you’ve achieved.

I would advise you take a bag with warm clothes, waterproofs, hat and gloves and drinks as a minimum. We didn’t see anything for the second half of the walk so unsure wether there were sheer drops or nice views. It was hammering down at the top and most of the way back and does get very cold at the top.

The worst bit for us was the walk back at the very end, going back down the tarmac!!

We managed the walk in 4hrs flat without stops, 4hrs 30 with stops on the way up and back (clothes on/off, water break etc, and photos at the top)

Whilst walking up the mountain, it did start to get cold, so I recommend taking a coat or jumper if you're planning on staying up high for a long period of time.
You do have to pre book for parking, whereas you could get there by bus (it was slightly busy whilst going there and back from where I was staying)

The views where amazing and I'd definitely recommend coming, I'd definitely not to come if you're scared of heights.
The train was fully booked, and the café at the summit is closed until 2022.

If you have young children, I'd suggest not coming as they might struggle if you're planning on going up to the top.

This is a mountain not a lovely morning beach walk it’s hard!

I’ve read so many bad reviews because there are no toilets of course there aren’t. There are some in the visitor centre at the top but this is closed for the rest of 2020.

We went via the Rangers Trail! Some sections were nice gentle inclined others were very steep scrambles.

The car park fills up. We got there about 8am and got a space. £6 loose change only. There are some portaloos here!

The views on the train are stunning with lots of places to stop n rest or take photos.

This trail was quite empty and we only occasionally passed people. Once nearer the top n the routes merged, it was heaving! The top was so busy it was hard to get a photo without someone’s head in it! I preferred the views slightly down from the top!

To get to the small peak rock to get a photo we queued for 40 mins!!!

Enjoyable day but exhausting day

Took the Llanberis path on 22nd June in decent weather, having bought walking shoes and packed a rucksack with water, snacks and extra clothing if needed. We parked in the car park opposite the Llanberis mountain railway station for £8.40 until midnight. The station includes the nearest toilet to the mountain. Took 3 hours 10 mins to ascend the path. The first bit from the end of Victoria Terrace to the sign for Llanberis path was so steep i nearly gave up then. Thankfully, once you are on it, the path levels out a bit. After a couple of hours the path crosses under the railway bridge and gives good views down another side of the mountain. The path leads off to the right and was really hard work. As you get to go round the bend to what you think will be the top, a second peak appears with a small monument visible. It was noticeably cooler at the top. We had about a 40 min wait for the obligatory photo then came down. As we did so the weather improved with the sun coming out. Coming down was not as easy as i thought as you had to bend your legs and dig your heels in to prevent slipping in places. In all we were up there for about 7 hours and walked 12 miles. I walk about 10 miles a day anyway but still found this strenuous. My next mountain trip will be by road train or cable car!!!

Snowdon was a bucket list item for me and I’m very glad I managed to walk to the top despite not being a regular climber.

We chose the Llanberis Path as we were told this was the easiest route. It still had its difficulties but for beginner climbers we were happy to find it was fairly manageable.

I would recommend starting the walk on this path early as the car parks at the bottom tend to fill up fairly quickly, as does the path up to Snowdon.

The cafe at the summit also doesn’t seem to be open at the moment so be prepared to have a nature wee or two. The half way Cafe was open when we visited though there aren’t any toilets here.

You should also be prepared to queue to reach the official summit on busy days.

Me, my partner and my 10 year old step son walked the Llanberis path again on new years eve. This is our 4th time. My step son was 7 the first time he did it and he made it to the top. We was properly prepared for the ever changing weather each time as you really never know when or how it's going to change. The terrain is rough and challenging at times but that's to be expected from climbing a mountain. There is a cafe half way and at the summit but theyre not always open but if you have plenty of food and drink you'll be absolutely fine. I've seen people attempting to do this in shorts and trainers on a freezing cold day when it's snowing and they always end up turning back.. Preparation is the key and if your not prepared then just Dont try it. You also need to be physically fit as its not just a quick walk in the park. If you have issues walking or need a wheelchair then just use the train because like I said it's a mountain and the terrain is going to be rough obviously. We love the place and planning yet another return soon

Walked up Snowdon Llanberis path in August 21. We started walking around 7:30am and there was plenty of parking at the local car parks at that time.

Although we all enjoy walking, we can't claim to be particularly fit. The initial climb to get to the beginning of the path was a killer and my 11 year old kept saying he couldn't do this. We ploughed on with plenty of breaks (and sweets). Although labelled the tourist track, this is by no means an easy walk and took us the best part of 7 hours for the round trip. What I labelled the 'staircase to heaven' was the worst bit for me. After the halfway point and before the train station stop there was a never-ending steep rocky footpath which honestly felt hellish. The view when you get to the top of that bit is magnificent though, and it's where the train stops as it's about 3/4 of the way through. That was the best view we had as the summit was misty even though it was 21 degrees and sunny on the ground. We summited about 11:30 after a 15 min wait. The queue to the summit grew much longer during the time we sat and enjoyed our lunch surrounded by some grazing sheep!

Saw plenty of families dragging up 3, 4 and 5 year old. Be warned - it's a long and hard slog. Heard someone trying to cajole a crying child by saying 'you can tell your nursery friends that you climbed a mountain in the holidays!' You need good solid walking shoes and I would have benefitted from walking poles for the way down. Downhill is not easy, there are plenty of loose rocks and slippery bits so we were grateful for the dry and warm weather.

My husband was litter picking on the way back and filled two bags - unfortunately there was plenty more left behind. The worst culprits were the slushy cups and bagged dog mess. A message for dog owners: don't think you are doing us a favour by bagging your dog poo and leaving the plastic bag on the side of the path. It is infinitely worse! Bag your poo and take it with you.
