Delivering a sense of wilderness within an urban environment, visitors to Sutton Park can enjoy the captivating scenery, using an accessible network of paths. There are opportunities to enjoy walking, jogging, angling, nature watching, orienteering, play areas, restaurants and use bridle paths and cycling routes in the Park. Car parks are located at all the main entrances and the Park is linked to a variety of public transport routes.Sutton Park is an historic landscape that covers an area of over 2,000 acres and attracts over two million visits every year.In 1997, English Nature designated Sutton Park a National Nature Reserve and it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).Lying six miles to the north of Birmingham City Centre this landscape is a mosaic of open heathland, woodlands, wetlands, marshes and seven lakes each with their own rich variety of plants and wildlife, some rarely seen in the region. It is an important site for wildlife and conservation, containing fine examples of natural countryside that have survived for hundreds of years. These habitats are part of a working grazed landscape where cattle and wild ponies can be seen grazing during the year. This park is a natural area where animals roam freely. Please wash your hands with soap and water before eating or drinking.

First return visit since lockdown was eased. Lots of paths to walk on as you wend your way around this vast park. Plenty of opportunity to socially distance because of the layout of the roads, paths and wide open grassland areas. Outside seating available at the Bistro cafe. Seating can require a wait because of the popularity of this venue. Car parking available throughout the park. Choice of gates to enter with varying vistas to enjoy. A great place to stretch your legs in these challenging times.

How lucky are we to live in Sutton Coldfield. The park is a paradise for walkers, cyclists, dogs, golfers, etc, etc. Where else can you walk freely with children and or dogs enjoying the parkland, woods and lakeside cafes.
Use and respect our park it’s priceless

Council owned and poorly maintained , the walkways / roads are very unsafe causing me to fall immediately with 100 yards of getting out of my vehicle . Many potholes and eroded surfaces baking it very unsafe and uncomfortable . I visited Easter Sunday and what used to be a very nice park is in urgent need of attention with broken overgrown trees etc and very uneven surfaces throughout the park which I sure one day someone will tags legal action against the council for this safety critical shortfalls , plenty of potential but sadly I would not recommend, Regards Shaun .
Also no signs etc re pandemic and COVID19 restrictions anywhere and no one at all only us two were wearing face masks 😷 which is also very sad in these challenging times !!!
Maybe a need for park enforcement team/ wardens .

The park is the 2nd biggest in England at over 2000 acres and is always worth visiting.
There are so many pathways and walks through the park as well as many pools such as blackroot, bracebridge, powells pool and wyndley where you get many swans and geese etc and is always popular with families. You do have to pay £2 to park at weekends between April - october but covid has paused that at the moment.
I've been here countless times as I live nearby and I would always recommend it.

I visited the park on a damp but warm December day. Despite the weather it was an enjoyable experience and there were a lot of other people there walking, running and cycling. As we were first time visitors we had no idea where we were going and there appeared to be few signs. Our visit would have been enhanced by improved signage. I would return however and recommend it to those looking for a place to exercise and get in touch with nature.

Great park - huge expanse of green space, with water (pools and streams), beautiful woods, opens spaces, playgrounds and a few places for coffee and food too. Lots of wildlife to spot - including birds of pray. Plenty of paths, but great to get off the busier walkways too. In winter useful time wear wellies. Always loads of dogs being walked, both on and off their leads. The rangers and olunteers do a great job keeping everything clean and tidy.

As the previous reviewer says, there are inadequate facilities, toilets were still out of order over a month along the line. no directions as to where the pools were, part of the roads were closed due to the race for life taking place, which made it more difficult to find your way around. it was a lovely peaceful place if you discount having to avoid bike riders and dog walkers. a few of the gates said which entrance they led too, but no distances which would be useful, especially if you're no spring chicken.

First visit and really impressed with the size of the park, the quality of the paths and the variety of types of plant habitat. Had a very relaxing walk and will be able to return with our granddaughter as paths will be easy with a pushchair. Free parking as well.

Started our walk at the Banners Gate entrance, small car park that many had parked inappropriately on (this is my reason for 4 stars) and made for an anxious start. In the end I parked a little further down the road in a residential street.
We walked for over 6 miles! It’s a vast area that was kept clean and tidy.
Beautiful scenery and plenty of open space for ball games and kids to have fun. Great for den building too!
We didn’t use the park due to COVID, although there were people on it.
Had an ice cream from the cafe.
Will return but may try from a different entrance next time.
