Gator Country Alligator Park

103 Reviews

Gator Country Alligator Park at Airboat Adventures is home to one of the most incredible alligators you will ever come face to face with! "BUBBA" is our 7ft, 15 year old, voice and hand command trained American Alligator! To our knowledge...truely a "one of a kind". "Bubba" has been raised since birth by his owner and trainer David and we are proud to have them both for the most incredible show you will find anywhere featuring an alligator! This is an absolute "DO NOT MISS" on your vacation to Panama City Beach!

We had a blast. Very informative. We got to see several animals native to Florida including wild gators. Kids loved the 360s too. Staff/Captain is very kind, great with kids. Would recommend and cannot wait to visit again!

Never have I left a "touristy" attraction feeling so ripped off. First, although the airboat ride was fun and my 7 year old was enjoying it, it was not close to an hour long - more like 30 minutes. Most of the other boat ride attractions in PCB last at least 2 hours. They take you in brackish waters, which if you know anything about aligators, they do not like to live in brackish waters. We didn't see anything. I do realize wildlife is not predictable, but little to no effort was made to find gators or other wildlife to view and most of the ride was spent idoling up a small little waterway. The ride was WAY too short to justify what they charge. It cost my husband and I and our 7 year old $85. THEN, they're idea of "gator country alligator park" is three, dog-lot sized pens. Two of the 3 pens each had 2 small gators. the third pen had maybe 6 even smaller gators in it. Whow. Don't know how they can get away with calling this an alligator park. THEN, they told me when I called we would get to hold a gator and take pictures. Well, that's only if you want to spend another $15 for them to take a picture. After spending $85, who wants to spend another $15 for a picture? So my son was a bit disappointed about that. LASTLY, they push tipping the entire time, which again, after spending $85, we were not thrilled with. Overall this was the biggest disappointment of our trip, and I wish we would not have done this. There are many other adventures that are much more fun, and a much better use of your money. Stay away from this one! Trust me.

Took this trip in March 2015 and our grandson had a ball it was his first air boat. Decided to try it again in July 2015. This experience was terrible. Called at 9:00am to set a time, had to leave a message. Recalled again at 12:30 left another message, stopped by the office at 1:30 and was told by the lady inside that they were extremely busy. I asked why they didn't at least return my call, she threw up her hands and said "what am I suppose to do", I said at least return my call. Multiple other employees in office including the owner, someone could have returned our call. Decided to leave and go to the other Air Boat in Panama city. "Wild Thang", what a different experience. Great people and way better boat ride. The other company takes you into a creek to see an alligator and back. The "Wild Thang" takes you through the marshes exactly what you would expect from a swamp boat. Much more personable and informative trip. Had a wonderful experience. We will never go back to "Gator Country" Air Boat tours.

I'm giving this place one star only because it makes me. After reading all the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. I was very disappointed and felt like I had thrown my money in the trash. We had 3 adults and 5 kids under the age of 8. When we arrived, the place was very small and shabby. We thought we were coming to see an alligator show.. Did not happen. There are about 4 dog sized cages with a couple of gators laying around. They looked miserable. Their water was filthy and it seemed very cruel. The lady got a small gator out and let each of us hold it for about 2 seconds. That was it No educational info, no show. We were told to follow a man to a body of water where we got on an airboat hoping to see some wildlife. The website said it would last about 45 mins. It lasted maybe 30. We saw 1 bird! Basically the only thing we talked about on the ride was the land. The man told us there were small gators out on the trip before us and we saw NONE!
Anyhow, after the ride, you are pushed to give a tip to the "driver". After paying almost $200 for all of us to do this, why would I give you a tip when we saw nothing?! Waste of money.. I regret it and wish we would have went to Gulf World instead. We missed out on that because we spent all of our money here. The only good thing about this is you get to hold a baby gator. Not for long Long enough for you to snap a picture. Don't waste your time or your money!

We were told to be there 30 minutes prior, so we were. When we got there, there was another couple waiting for the same tour. When 1:00 rolled around, no one showed up to provide the tour. We tried calling the company, but no one answered. The other couple was disappointed, because they drove all the way from Georgia. My friend was also disappointed, because he drove from Pensacola. Too bad for the company, but they lost 5 customers that day.

THIS LIVE ALLIGATOR SHOW IS SO EXTRAORDINARY! It’s hard to believe what you are seeing!

We first met Dave David and “BUBBA” last July (2010) -- and we have been singing praises of Bubba’s Show -- to everyone! Our neighbors and their guests have now seen Bubba & Dave, as well as my brother, his children and grandchildren! Oh! And while waiting for our Airboat Adventures ride to start (tons of fun too!), we met a family from Kentucky. After we told them about Bubba’s show, they signed up to meet Bubba & Dave too -- and they loved it!

This July our daughter, Dee, came to visit us in Freeport, FL with her two sons, Marcus (2) and Mick, (9). Mick had met Bubba & Dave last July -- and he has been talking about Bubba ever since! He could hardly wait to get his Mom to meet Bubba!

Dee’s eyes popped open (just like ours did last year!) when Dave carried Bubba to the demonstration table and gently set him down. As Dave talked about alligators, he constantly touched and lovingly stroked Bubba. Dave is extremely articulate and very knowledgeable about alligators in his presentation -- with huge emphasis on respecting all alligators as wild animals. He explained how Bubba’s eyes work differently than a human’s eyes; what alligators in the wild eat and how differently Bubba eats. There was also great detail about Bubba’s teeth and his skin, as well as how alligators “think” with their thumb-sized brain!

Dave told us funny stories about training Bubba with hot dogs; how Bubba does not like the FEDEX truck; Bubba playing catch with the family’s dogs and how Bubba has learned his place in the “pecking order” of the family’s dogs -- and guess what? He’s not first!

Dave shared background information about how he raised and trained “BUBBA” since he was a 3-day old hatchling. Now Bubba is 15 years old, over 7’ long, 170 lbs -- and he’s the most unbelievable alligator you’ll ever see! You’ll love how Dave still “comforts” Bubba by picking him up and putting his head on Dave’s shoulder, as he did when Bubba was little! This sight is mind-boggling!

Dave constantly reminded everyone that Bubba is extremely rare -- and without a doubt, the most docile alligator we will ever see -- and that Bubba and all alligators should be always be respected as dangerous animals.

Part of Dave’s presentation is to allow the kids (and adults!) to touch Bubba while he closely supervises, of course! Mick was very proud to show his Mom and little brother the alligator, Bubba, that he’s been talking about for the past year!

Back in the 1940s, 50s and60s, kids always had their pictures taken on a pony. Well, times have changed haven’t they??? In this picture, little Marcus has no idea that he’s sitting on a real, live alligator -- which totally freaked out his Grammy and Grand Dad in San Diego! When they come to visit us, they are gonna meet Bubba & Dave too!

Unquestionably, there is a rare bond between Dave and Bubba, which can be appreciated by everyone who is lucky enough to see Bubba’s show! And this “show” will always be #1 on our list for all of our visitors to Panama City Beach!

When we got there we pd and they told us we could go see the gators while waiting for our boat. Seeing the gators consisted of three cages with two holding one alligator each and the third had babies in it. That took all of 10 minutes. Then the lady had us sit file a small Q&A session that was maybe 10 to 15 minutes more. Then we were told to drive down the rd turn left once or twice till we get under the bridge and then board the boat. Once we got there (took about 5 minutes) we got on the boat and the ride was about a half hour we saw one gator and the guy who took us was great, very knowledgeable and funny. The half hour ride was fun the rest not worth it. We paid $120.00 for two adults and two children. This was way over priced of a one hour event.

A waste of time and money. Wouldn't recommend it at all. Very disappointing. Very commercialized, like a sausage machine.

One of the most fascinating reptile events I have ever attended. An eye to eye, hands on experience that you most likely will never be afforded again. Bubba is truly one of a kind and his handler(David) ) is fascinating and a world of information. The proprietors are friendly and engaging and this stop is well worth it's money. I have been coming here for years and never visited this hidden gem. We will be back and recommending to all our friends!

Money well spent! We had 4 adults and 3 kids (ages 12, 11 and 9) and we all had a blast! I'm horrible with names but our captain and co-captain were AWESOME! They had us all over the water looking for gators and having a great time doing it. You can tell they love what they do.
We saw a glimpse of the gator before it went under the water. Got a little water splashed on us and went for "mini rides" or spins lol
Oh and did I mention- YOU GET TO HOLD A BABY ALLIGATOR 😳😳
You will enjoy this activity. We plan to come back!
