Gower Peninsula

A beautiful location with many stunning paths to run and walk. Beware parking is expensive and there is only one car park which is large, well organised but soon fills up. The beach is amazing and well worth a visit.

This was a return visit for us (following on from last year). One of the most beautiful coastlines in Britain, a personal favourite is the wild and rugged Bracelet Bay with parking and eatery.

Oxwich Bay wide, long sandy beach with eateries and public toilets and pay to enter car park, easy to spend the whole day there.

Worm's Head and Rhossilli Bay, beautiful sandy beach although there is a steep descent - well worth it. Eateries included in the village. National Trust property. Parking free for members.

Mumbles - beautiful outlook. Car parking, shopping centre and plenty of places to eat.

Started off hellish wet and windy - then very windy and then sun and later on hail!! Beautiful scenery worth visiting. Sadly lots of places shut as out of season but the ones that were open very friendly and welcoming. Worms head impressive

Having last visited the Gower peninsular nearly 50 years ago as a teenager I returned for a quiet break with my husband in early September. Memories of a vast expanse of empty beach beneath a bushy headland had remained with me and I was delighted to find it just the same as we looked down on Whiteford Sands. As before the weather was not brilliant but we enjoyed two warm sunny days and with such beautiful bays and moorland to enjoy the weather was not top priority. The cliff top walks from Langland Bay to Caswell Bay and from Bracelet Bay to Rotherslade were wonderful, made easier by concrete paths a lot of the way. We even saw seals as we looked down to the water. A glorious day was spent at Rhossili; the view across the bay, where moorland drops down to meet sand and sea was magical and for his challenge of the week my husband accomplished the challenging crossing to the Worms Head and back. Every day gave fresh beauty to enjoy and each evening we found a wonderful meal in a different village pub as we travelled around. The Gower fifty years on was as lovely as I remembered.

Stayed in the beautiful Mumbles on the Gower in Wales. Fantastic beaches, outstanding countryside, glorious food and really friendly people. Maybe it did help that we had the hottest week of the year (94 one day) when all of our friends said it always rains in Wales do not believe everything you hear. If you are into walking you can walk all the way from Mumbles into Swansea along the beach if you time the tides right and get a little steam train part way back if you need it. Will definitely go back.

This was my first visit to the Gower. Friends go every year and recommended places to go and walks to take. So many beautiful bays to explore and walks. We did the long coastal circular path walk from three cliffs bay stopping off at The King Arthur for a late lunch before the final stretch back to the car. Exhausting but worth it !

We stayed in Swansea as it was a last minute decision to go and couldn’t find much choice in accommodation at such short notice. Next time we will stay further into the Gower

The Gower Peninsula is a very attractive part of the UK and is famous for its coastal path walks and vast sandy beaches. We did the Worms Head and Three Cliffs walks this time around and they were spectacular. A lot of the best bits are owned by the National Trust and parking charges are free for members.
The roads on the peninsula are narrow in places and some of the best beaches are at the end of country roads so can struggle with a lot of visitors. Personally I don’t visit during summer school holidays preferring early June or late September and take a chance with the weather.

This is the holiday we should have had in April before lockdown. It has been brilliant so far but the weather has helped of course. Fantastic scenery and if you are planning to go shortly and are afraid of crowds we had no problem here. It is a big space and can accommodate Lots of people. Even in the cafes and restaurants we had no problems as they all had implemented the wearing of face masks in public places today and had one way systems in place. You can do a short walk which is about 4.5 km but there are longer walks I believe but that was good enough for us. If you do go hope you enjoy it like we did.

Beautiful place with breathtaking views. There is plenty of space to walk and explore. Some areas might be a challenge and would recommend wearing good shoes as the sand makes the paths slippery. You can walk to see the Pennard Castle ruins. There are plenty of benches to rest and have a picnic/snack.

I went to Gower as a tourist - the older visitors I saw were serious walkers and appropriately attired - so I was not dressed for the terrain. However, the peninsular is beautiful and the castle ruins along the way are picturesque. I’d very much recommend dropping the car off and taking a day to walk around the peninsular, valleys and channel-front. Do not trust google or Waze when navigating to or around the peninsular as you may find yourself on narrow winding country roads in the middle of nowhere. Regardless, everywhere you turn and from every angle, the views are spectacular so, well worth the visit!
