I'm so pleased to be able to walk round this amazing garden again, I've missed it. The gardeners are working hard to 'tame' nature again and it really is a great spot to see the collection of amazing plant/tree species.
I don't have a garden so this one I visit a lot during the months it's open.
Having missed 'Spring' in the garden due to Covid I am now looking forward to spectacular displays as always in August.
Before the work started on this hidden gem in 2007 we had a chance for a look around and when I look at my photos from then it's just incredible how it has developed. It's a credit to the gardeners who manage it - it just gets better every year.

Curator in museum told us about the walled garden. It was a pleasant walk through a wooded area on paths to get to it. Well worth a visit. Manicured flower, fruit and vegetables gardens laid out. The gardeners were working away showing such interest. The cafe was bright with indoor and outdoor seating. No entrance fee to this garden or museum.

We had some time to spare during our trip to Bangor so decided to visit the Walled Garden which was a short walk from the Hotel. It was a lovely day so it was nice to get out in the fresh air & explore the area. This is a good place to visit with the kids or by yourself.

Whilst at the Starbucks a short hop up the road at the retail park we saw this on the map. So glad we came, it was beautiful, and also the car parking was plentiful and free. The gardens are kept tip top & looked amazing. There are benches around the outside where we sat for a while in the warm sun shine. Another nice thing was there was no issue with young children playing on the grass and running around, great to hear the laughter. There’s a small cafe with toilets too. If you are up for relaxing with a coffee, with a book and sitting in the sun this is right up your alley.

Passing through the gate brought us into a colourful tranquil area. There were many flower beds carpeted in many coloured blooms. A fountain, tinkl\ing quietly at the Garden's centre added a soothing touch. A place of calming refuge from the outside world's many pressures and worries.

Oh an absolutely beautiful place.. just a pity it's so hidden away!! I always forget it exists..
I haven't been in a while with all this covid 19 going on.. but will definitely have to return as I loved it the last time I was there!
A really good spot for summer time I look forward to going back.

Beautiful walk while waiting for my daughter in the pool. A lot of time and care is clearly been put into this garden. It is so colourful and peaceful. The sound of the water fountain just topped the day off. We where glad to see a cafe there too for refreshments.

A beautiful oasis in Bangor, lovely interesting planting and a great place to relax or take the kids to blow off some steam.

We stumbled across this on a rainy day between showers and it's gorgeous. As suggested it's a large walled garden near to the Heritage Centre in Bangor, The walls themselves are spectacular, but the gardens are superb, even late in autumn. There are many beds, ranging through from perenials to veg. all immaculate and well labelled. As you wander, there are sculptures to see and a marvellous fountain. On a beautiful day, a picnic would be in order. From there it is easy to wander to Ward Park (also great, love the birds) and into town for a cup of tea.

‘This is an outstanding addition to North Down’s recreational facilities. A place to relax, to wander around the four gardens; the Winter Garden, the Damp Garden, the Victorian Flower Garden and the Topiary Garden.’
Remarkably it is all managed by a dedicated staff of just three people and a small number of Friends of the Walled Garden who volunteer their time planting and weeding and mulching as they wait for the explosion of colour and rich foliage as well as a wide selection of vegetables as spring time turns to summer.
The fountain, a beautiful feature at the intersection of the four gardens covering one and a half acres creates such a feeling of tranquillity for all to enjoy over the coming summer months as the gardens evolve and adapt from season to season.
The latest developments in the Walled Garden are the state-of-the-art toilet block, facilities to provide coffee, tea and snacks and of course the Band Stand whose restoration is nearing completion after being rescued from Pickie.
