The Wizard of Oz Museum

797 Reviews

Boasting one of a kind collection of rare and unique artifacts from the story’s remarkable history, guests can journey down the Yellow Brick Road with Dorothy and her beloved comrades exploring Oz’s early days as a best-selling children’s book series first envisioned by the imagination of legendary author L. Frank Baum, to the iconic MGM film starring Judy Garland, to modern pop-culture sensations like THE WIZ and WICKED and beyond. Everyone is aware of the Wizard of Oz, and we are around the corner from Port Canaveral. If you are looking for things to do with kids in the area, you could not go wrong by visiting the museum. You will learn that there is way more to The Wizard of Oz than the famous MGM movie. 40 official Oz books continue the original first story that most people are familiar with. Would you like to see the movie's original props, like Dorothy's dress, Winkle's Guard Spear, Ruby Slippers from Disney's "Great Movie Ride", and Emerald City Townsman jacket? Inspiring.

This was a very interesting place. They have a lot of original artifacts from both the movie and the actors. We enjoyed reading about the items they have. It is all very well displayed and labeled. There is a small children's room playing the movie. The immersive experience was different. It's not really related back to the movie or story but takes cues from the different story lines. There's also a Van Gogh portion incorporated that has nothing to do with Oz as well as a space hubble selection again interesting to see but nothing to do with Oz. I would suspect because of royalties and that they charge to enter, they couldn't incorporate parts of the actual movie into the immersive experience. I'm not all together sure this is a good for children as there isn't much hands on; older ones who are probably familiar with the story may enjoy it. We really older Oz-philes will delight in all the history behind the scenes. It is self guided and there are QR codes on most of the displays that will give you an audio reflection of what you're looking at. The attendants are very well informed and extremely pleasant and enjoyable!!! It is a bit pricey and I'm not sure it really has the value for the price paid especially if you're bringing young children.

This was WAY more than we expected. This museum is extremely educational about the entire world of OZ, going way beyond the movie you’re familiar with. The staff and owner are passionate and very knowledgeable which enhances the experience.

This is a wonderful museum with lots of Wizard of Oz memorabilia. I had no idea that Baum wrote so many books set in the world of Oz! They have an amazing collection that even a casual lover of Oz would be happy to see and an immersive video room that was great.
Highly recommended!

The collection of Oz memorabilia is really impressive! I especially like seeing the props that were used in the 1939 film. It's hard to describe the immersive room as it is absolutely fantastic! You really feel like you are in the middle of Oz. They take the time to explain to you how The Wizard of Oz is more than just a movie, but an entire series of books with many different characters. It was fun learning about it. They also have all of the original Oz books. First editions. If you're looking for something to do in Cape Canaveral, it's right in between Port Canaveral and Cocoa Beach. A real gem!

This is an amazing place! There aren't many Wizard of Oz attractions around & we were so excited to find this one on our recent vacation. My daughter brought all of her costumes & had so much fun taking pictures around the museum. My son really enjoyed watching the movie & playing with the toys. Our entire family enjoyed the immersive room. We hope to visit again very soon.

The Wizard of Oz in Cape Canaveral is an excellent museum for the whole family. They have a fun scavenger hunt for kids and TONS of artifacts and history surrounding the books. Additionally for NO extra charge they have an immersive experience where you can literally skip down the yellow brick road. If you're a fan of the movie or books this place is a must stop!
