This is a great reminder of one of the greatest British comedians we've ever had. A huge amount of thought went into this design and supporting material based in and around Eric statue.
His classic one liners are etched into the granite. Thens there's the list of famous people who had the privilege of being invited on the Morecambe and Wise show. A lovely tribute to the great man
Sweet dreams Eric you funny fella you
Nicely looked after area, people were cleaning the statue today when I visited. The view behind the statue is great and it’s very easy to get a decent picture with the statue. Benches behind the statue to you can sit around and enjoy the view behind. Overall, worth the visit if you’re passing by, wouldn’t travel far just to see it though.
Show more...The statue is beautifully placed on a bank overlooking the sea. To the town side of the statue is an enchanting paved area with lots of lines from Morecambe and Wise. They really made me smile. It seemed like a moment didn't go by without someone coming to have their photo taken with the statue, most people copying Eric's pose. Then as they walked away people would pat the chest of the statue. It seemed to me that everyone has such happy memories and affection for Eric. Almost perfect .. but they now need to add Little Ern!!

The statue stands above an area with some of the more famous sayings of Eric and Ern. Also there are the names of the many stars that have dared to appear on the Morecambe and Wise show.
We went on Jan 2nd do miserable and cold. but still enjoyed visiting the statue after a nice lunch in a cafe nearby.
Great little piece with inscriptions on the path below to tell the kids all about morcambe & wise
What a lovely tribute to an amazing performer. The statue is overlooking the beach and is set in beautiful well tended for gardens. The steps to bring me sunshine are embedded in the steps to the statue and various quotes from Eric Morecambe are within the flower garden. If you are a fan, this is well worth the visit.
Show more...We visited Morecambe for 2 days during our trip of the north. We’d never seen this statue before, a great tribute to a great comedian. Watched them as a youngster on tv. Well done Morecambe it’s great.
Show more...I preferred the statue where it was originally, in the West End of the town. The West End is a bit run down now so that may be why it was moved. It's a pity that they didn't put him with his long time partner, Ernie Wise, as that would have been a more fitting tribute and it is unlikely that Leeds City Council are going to do a statue of him. Having said that, Eric was a naturally funny man in real life as well as on TV. I suppose it's a good job he didn't change his name to Eric Glasgow, otherwise he would have had a traffic cone stuck on his head.
Show more...What a lovely tribute to a fab man. Easy access to the statue, interesting anecdotes and cliches circled below him on the forecourt.. 5 Go Caravanning was recently televised and was featured, so we wanted to see for ourselves, and well worth the visit. Bought a tear to my eye standing next to him.

Went to visit the statue on a day trip to Morcombe Bay. It is one of the most look a like statues I have seen. It is not only the statue but the area in front worth taking a little time to read the sayings and stars that starred with him.
