We received a gift voucher for an overnight stay, neither of us had heard of the resort before. The car park was busy when we arrived, and typically there was a downpour halfway to reception. Good job the welcome was warm and friendly, we discovered during our all too short stay that is typical of all the staff, everyone we saw smiled and spoke to us. We dried off and had a brief look around before our booked early dinner. I had the veg tempura which made me think about becoming a vegetarian. The main course was lentils and lamb which soon changed my mind, it was exceptional. After seeking advice I had the cheesecake which did not disappoint. My wife had chicken and black pudding, cod loin and creme brûlée. All I was offered was a taste of a single Bombay potato which shows how good they all were. Our room was very good, plenty of room with a view over the golf course, a large hot shower and a comfy bed. We never used the TV or had tea and coffee. There was a bit of late night noise with some guests returning to their room, but you get those people in every hotel. It was a typical breakfast, help yourself to the large selection on offer. I would have liked to have had an omelette or eggs Benedict, but nothing like that seemed to be on offer. I made myself a bacon and mushroom toasted sandwich which more than sufficed. I also had a Danish and muffin because they were calling me and some cereal to be good. My wife wants to return to sample some more of the local gin so I have a feeling we will be returning. They just better have the lamb and lentils on the menu to make me happy. Good points - the staff (did I mention the lamb), bad points - nothing.

We stayed here 3 years ago - Christmas pre lockdown when the hotel was busy. This time it was nice and quiet. The hotel is corporate, nice, good staff, nice rooms. The main focus of the visit was a Gin distillery tour next to the hotel. That was fabulous. Food was good. The disappointment for me are the bar areas - Bar 1 like a soulless Weatherspoons. No atmosphere, people in gym gear on a Saturday night, a television on showing golf with the sound off that no one was watching. Bar 2 - nice decor but no atmosphere whatsoever. Absolutely soulless.

I had my baby shower in the vale yesterday, it was absolutely beautiful. Mike and Lucy.C were with us for the day and they were both absolutely amazing especially Mike. Making sure that everything was fine throughout the day and accommodating anything that we needed. Supplying us with unlimited tea and coffee, they could not have made me feel more at ease and comfortable knowing everything was taken care of. They brought us take away boxes for the afternoon tea which was also very nice.

My wife and I booked the hotel to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday. When the staff found out the receptionist graciously upgraded our room. This please the wife, and set the tone for the stay. Saturday night the duty manager spent took time to talk to us. treated like family. It made us feel wonderful. What a pleasant friendly staff throughout our stay. On the Sunday the rest of our family joined us for Sunday lunch, and again the staff were friendly and so understanding especially as we had our three year old grandson with us. My wife and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly staff. Thank you Vale Resort. The management should be pleased with the way their staff treat guests.

Another amazing stay at The Vale Resort, we have been returning to this fabulous hotel for the past 15 years & it always delivers 100% from the minute we step through the door. Gareth on reception is an absolute pleasure to deal with, going above & beyond to ensure our stay is memorable & adding a truly personal touch to our visit. He really is a credit to the hotel. The house keeping staff were amazing & very accomodating & the barstaff friendly & personable. The hotel itself & the grounds are always imacculate, a little gem in an idyllic location. Gareth at reception was exceptional, he went above and beyond. Showing that as usual the Vale experience was friendly, efficient and caring. Whilst we were there we saw Gareth help another resident with a flat battery….! We know who to go to now if we have any problems!!! Our standard room was clean & bed comfortable. Spa facilities a bit tired but staff lovely & spa treatments exceptional (thank you Alisha).

Room was great & location perfect. Breakfast was a major disappointment - akin to a failing Pontins. Could be because they were so busy but surely a hotel like this would be prepared. Cold food & coloured water for coffee. At a 4* hotel at least give me a decent coffee in the morning. Expected more - lower your breakfast expectations if staying here.
