A brief visit to the Blue Bell Creameries the day after Christmas! The production area was in full swing, gift shop was open, and so was the ice cream shop. On the coldest day in December we indulged in a cup of ice cream. It was delicious and so much fun!

One word. Amazing!!! Sure you don't get to physically tour the place per say, but you can look from overhead. You also can get a big cup of their delicious ice cream for a buck!! Loved this stop on our trip!!

Make the trip. We traveled from Atlanta to Birmingham, Alabama. We decided to make this pit stop. We would make this trip 1000 times. We love ice cream and loved this place. We tried all the flavors and enjoyed visiting with the staff.

Drove 1 1/2 hours out of our way to visit & not impressed. The ice cream was our first mission & delicious of course (huge variation in how much was served based on the server) but overall visit was discouraging. It was Friday 11pm (6/21)& gift shop was closed & many people tried to go in as marked as open. When I asked why it was closed the woman (clearly a supervisor) was behind the ice cream counter & said she would open it shortly(employee on break). We decided to wait and she could clearly see us waiting. Employee came back and supervisor then sat down to visit with a friend. When we finally said something after she said she'd come and made us wait another 5 minutes. Waited over 1/2 an hour to get into gift shop and only got in because another employee heard us talking about it. Also a lot of inappropriate behavior between employees everywhere. A young female employee on factory floor (supervisor) was mouthing inappropriately to men who were near us on the 2nd floor viewing windows. The guys appeared to be employees - whole thing was tacky. When gift shop opened the prices for the Bluebell Christmas ornaments were $40 (most places have them for $12-$15) so I bought a couple cheap Bluebell key chains and will hang them on our tree. Overall not impressed. They would do better not to even have this When will employees realize that they do themselves out of a job in the long run with their own actions when those actions discourage customers from coming again??

We made a special trip to go to Sylacauga just to take a "factory tour" at the Blue Bell Creamery. I was disappointed that, at least at the time/day we visited, there was no real "tour" - we walked up to the second floor, where there was a gift shop and an ice cream shop. The only thing relating to the ice cream making process was a set of 3 viewing windows where we could look down at 3 different ice cream "packaging" lines that were running. Actually, when we got there, maybe around 2 pm, they were already starting to shut down the lines, one by one, to do their cleaning process of the equipment. So, we only got to see a little bit of the filling process. It was interesting, but definitely not what I would call a factory tour. The highlight of the visit, as others have mentioned, is getting a generous 2 1/2-3 scoop serving of ice cream in a cup for $1. They had about 12-16 flavors available.
As I said, we kind of made a special trip and went out of our way to go here, more for the factory tour aspect. So, while the ice cream is delicious and a great deal, I wouldn't recommend making a trip out of your way just to get a serving of ice cream for $1. It's a great perk of living in Sylacauga, however!!!

We visited Blue Bell Ice Cream facility 04/05/19. It has a small area with information about the history of the company. We also could view the process of the ice cream in the gallon containers. We stopped in the ice cream shop & enjoyed a delicious bowl of ice cream. It was interesting.

The tour was about 40 minutes There were about 20 people in our group. It started with a short video and then our group walked a short distance to see a display of all the flavors that they make. We continued the tour by looking through large windows down into where the ice cream was being packaged. The highlight was having an ice cream treat at the end of the tour. Would be good for kids.

The tour was informative, giving a history of the Blue Bell company and showed the processes of making the ice cream. At the end of the tour you also got a sample of the ice cream.

My husband and I recently visited the creamery. We had an excellent time! It was a lovely drive to Sylacauga, and the factory tour was really neat. We watched a video that covered the history of the Blue Bell Company, and then took a tour overlooking the factory. After the tour, we got to eat ice cream!!! which influenced us to stop at our local grocer on the way home to purchase ice cream! This really was a fun, quick, and friendly-priced tour. We're still talking about it, and we'd love to see their other creameries. Highly recommended.

We found this place while passing through town. We had to stop. My husband loves ice cream. We watched the employees fill containers and boxes from the factory floor below. Waved to a few of them. We both got a cup of ice cream from the store for $1 ea. Yes, $1 dollar each. It’s the serving in the photo!!! So glad we stopped.
