Built by Julius Aquila in 110 A.D. as a memorial for his father, the Celsus Library is one of the finest buildings in Ephesus. The two-story building contained over 12,000 hand-written books, making it one of the largest library collections of its time.

The pathways are very uneven, slippery. The ruins are spread over a large area .Not recommended for people with walking difficulty , small children. Pls wear flat footwear ,comfortable walking shoes without heels. The structure is very majestic, beautiful some portion restored.

This is the most photographed site at the ruins of this ancient city. The remains of the library are big and impressive and we were told that this was once one of the largest libraries in the ancient world. You will want to linger here on your tour.

This is the main attraction to see at Ephesus along with the arena, the detail in the well preserved ruins is amazing.

When you walk down the main road and first look down on structure it’s simply breathtaking, you can walk in and around ruins and get up and close and actually touch it (so many top attractions are roped of these days)

I would say this is one of the top attractions to see in all of Turkey.

A must see.

For me, this is the best of all attractions in Ancient Ephesus. It is the most intact and its facades are ornate and beautiful. It also has several statues at its front areas.

I took several pictures of this attraction from different angles. Trully amazing!

This is simply the highlight of the visit to the ancient ruins in Ephesus. Aside from that huge theatre of course.
Ruins of the facade still makes an impression. And to think that this used to be one of the largest libraries in the world. Reminds me of the Acropolis in Athens , and Petra in Jordan.

The most popular attraction at Ephesus and gets very crowded with people taking selfies. Inside is a lot emptier than outside and everything has been removed over the centuries but it’s still beautiful.

When you think of Ephesus this is the one that comes to mind. It is great to see. It is just a facade to the library but still stunning. Get a guide or read a book about it’s history to understand and appreciate it more.

The Celsus Library is a remarkable building, the front of which has been amazingly well-preserved and restored throughout times. Good place to make photo shoots.
