Clumber Park

1587 Reviews

Clumber Park is a beautiful expanse of parkland, heath and woods covering more than 3,800 acres. Originally home to the Dukes of Newcastle, Clumber is steeped in history with a splendid 83 acre lake, a four acre walled kitchen garden and a magnificent gothic Chapel. Today Clumber offers freedom to discover a ducal park and provides a haven for spotting wildlife within an idyllic setting. There is plenty of space to explore and relax with family and friends with over 20 miles of accessible walking and cycling routes for all ages and abilities. Bikes can be hired from the Cycle Hub, open at weekends and Nottinghamshire school holidays. There's something on offer for children of every age. Have fun den building in Leaping Bar and enjoy climbing, hiding and exploring in the hidden Woodland Play Park. The Discovery Centre is a must see when visiting. It's a great place to learn more about Clumber Park's history, the amazing array of wildlife and get involved in fun, seasonal activities.

I visited CP with my husband and brother in law. Both men walked with a walking stick. We visited the cafe and had a coffee and scone (very enjoyable). I went for a stroll and spotted a mini bus possible suitable for someone with a disability. We all decide to have a ride around the grounds. We all enjoyed this very much. I also must mention the two men who run the vehicle were very obliging.

Firstly it’s one of the great Nottinghamshire parks. Lovely walk around and gorgeous wildlife. Reasonably priced too. However, National Trust should be ashamed at having no internet(apart from the cafe).
No phone service too if on 02.
God help you if you fall ill or have an accident.

Brilliant day out!! We only went for the afternoon, but there is activities there that could have filled the day. Breath taking to look at. The kids loved feeding the ducks and sunbathing on the vast open lawn next to the lake. Beautiful. We had a small walk and loved looking at the wildlife that is all round us. Wished we had come for the day. Does make me want to consider purchasing a yearly subscription.

Nice that the parking is free once you are inside the park, its not an extra cost.

The park is beautiful, well kept, clean with lots of lovely walks.
The cafe is, sadly, the complete opposite. Dirty tables, long waits and poor quality food. Next time I'll bring a picnic.

I visited Clumber Park today with my mum. She has limited mobility, but we were able to borrow a mobility scooter for our visit. Ali and her colleague were extremely helpful and went out of their way to assist us. Easy to reserve and full support provided. Excellent, friendly and informative service. Thank you so much. We will definitely visit again. A beautiful park with superb staff on hand.

I was greeted at the entrance gate by a lovely lady with the tickets. She kindly directed me to the walled kitchen garden which was the main thing I had gone to see. Wowzer, it didn’t disappoint, horticultural excellence with beautiful borders & plants clearly labelled . There were little theatres of vases of fresh flowers , & the summer house was a delight with lots of lovely plants & a huge grape vine. I loved the idea of hanging giant allium seed heads from it, genius! Also lovely to see old mowers & tools from a bygone age & lots of interesting information. By far the best garden I have ever visited , & I’ve been to hundreds, even surpassing the lost gardens in Cornwall. I enjoyed a delicious ice cream in the courtyard & enjoyed chatting to a lady member of the gardening team planting wild strawberries in the raised beds. Impressed by the state of the art loos too, the lady tidying them was polite & seemed pleased when I told her what a fabulous day we had. Well done national trust! 😀

We often visit Clumber Park to walk and it never disappoints. You can take a circular walk around the lakes, through woodland and open spaces with plenty of really lovely views out over the lakes as you go. The area is often teeming with birds from swans, coots, grebes and geese to name but a few. This circular walk usually takes us around 1hr 20 mins starting from the main cafe where there are also toilets, second hand book shop, NT shop and a small museum. After approx 40 mins into the walk, you'll come across a kiosk (with seating area) selling drinks and food and also more toilets, which are really handy. At the moment, there are so many beautiful rhodendrons in bloom. The main cafe serves hot food, drinks etc and has both indoor and outdoor seating. There are plenty of grassy areas throughout the park for picnics, some with picnic tables. This is a National Trust park so you will either need to be a member or pay to get in if not.

Spent a few hours exploring the beautiful scenery of Clumber Park on a spring afternoon. As we walked around the lake we saw ducks, swans and Moor hens swimming and building nests near the water. The trees were beginning to grow leaves after the long winter months and the daffodils flowering on the banks of the lake. The visitor facilities in the courtyard have all been updated over the winter with new toilet blocks and new kiosks for drinks and snacks.

A good day out for a seriously disabled person who struggles to walk. The Nt lent me a top of the range electric wheelchair and I managed to get half way round the lake on good solid paths. Particular credit goes to Alli who could not have been more helpful. Apparently you can book in advance she explained though fortunately there was one available today.
