This museum is centred on the Roman influence on the town of Side.
I enjoyed it. So many museums are (I’m sorry) painfully long.
This museum has a small presentation that captures the essence of Roman influence, but doesn’t filter into boredom.
This place was small but it was great to see the artifacts and statues of lost buildings around Side. It was great to learn about the history and learn more about the amphitheatre that wasn't present upon our visit over there. It was a great place, but I would have liked to see more exhibits.
The staff let it down though. When getting our tickets, the ticket agent was more bothered about laughing and joking with security while on their phone than to listen to us. We asked for 3 tickets, but was only charged for 2 and given 2 tickets. We had to go back and get a third. Then the gift shop, we got 3 drinks and 1 book souvenir which should have cost us 660 lira, but the staff charged us 750 lira which we only realised about the over charge once we got back to the hotel.
It's a good experience but double check you're being charged correctly.
Side Museum is worth seeing and good value for money.
Everything seems clearly catalogued. Part of the baths (hamam) have been utilised to display statues and it is very well presented. Most of the display is outdoors in the gardens. The small niche in the outdoor garden to sit gazing at the ocean is a welcome break on hot days! I was only disappointed that the Atelier section was closed off when I visited in June, as I would have liked to see some of the gold coins.
Most fascinating part of the collection for me was the display of petite iron-cast and glass oil Lamps (kandiller). I enjoy those little functional ornaments.
Excellent value for money. We paid 50 Turkish lira each. The museum is well laid out. Small but compact. Nicely arranged and air conditioned. The shop inside is small and there should be some dispenser units for drinking water etc.
All in all great place to visit. The road to museum itself is amazing and full of archaeological sites.
Went on a rainy day for something to do and had my eyes opened to the fascinating history of the area. Entry was equivalent to just over two pounds sterling. So cheap! Toilet facilities excellent and clean. Staff friendly. Ancient history just everywhere!
Show more...We highly recommend to visit this museum when you are in Side. It is very close to the local attractions and is not expensive at all. It has a nice collection of statues, heads, coins, etc. There are quite a lot of information signs, both in Turkish and English (the latter sometimes with some forgiveable spelling mistakes).
Show more...Small but nice museum. We visited Side in the evening, right before the closing time of the museum. It has numerous artifacts, it could be a nice history lesson for fhe little ones and older alike.
The sunsets are beautiful here. Visit the museum at dusk for extra magic.
I advise you buy the combo ticket that includes fhe amphitheater as well. Both will take you max one hour and a half.
We visited Side by taking bus from Antalya. Cost to get there and back was negligible. Museum and theatre was absolutely amazing and definitely worth time and effort. Artifacts and ruins are in great shape considering time when they were built. It is nice to see that Turkey is taking care of their heritage. Would go again.
Show more...If you do no more than visit Side Museum, your time will be well spent. The recently elected mayor has spent a lot of money tidying up the museum and the surrounding areas, which are now easily accessible on foot.Of interest is the recently excavated shops, road, hospital and aquaduct.Choose a cooler day to browse the surrounding areas!Having been to Side for the last 10 years,i know it and the surrounding areas like the back of my hand,so any further assistance i can give i will gladly advise.

Side has such an interesting history and the museum has great exhibits such as Athena and Nike. Its only small but well worth a visit and its entry fee is very good value for money. We really enjoyed our visit. Make sure you purchase a twin ticket for the museum and amphitheatre. Both were wonderful!
