Show more...We went to the Italian wine tasting day run by Mark, who was fantastic! He kept our attention through the whole day with lots of surprises and made wine tasting great fun, as well as teaching us what to look for when choosing wine to go with food and when browsing wine in supermarkets. Useful, engaging and thoroughly enjoyable!
Show more...it was very informative and very relaxed, I loved the pace of it. It was people sitting around a table just chatting. Great wines also. Mark is obviously very good at his delivery of this course. I recommend this course to anyone who wants to understand a little more about wines and how they pair with food.
Show more...Four of us attended Mark's Introduction to Wine course held at Madingley Hall. Mark is an excellent presenter, entertaining and knowledgeable, questions from floor more than encouraged. The thirteen wines were carefully chosen and the tasting samples generous. One of us - after instruction - opened a bottle of sparking wine with a sword. Madingley Hall is a fantastic venue, we stayed there overnight after the course.
Show more...We have always felt we knew nothing about wine - we knew what we liked, but not why we liked it nor how to find more of the same types of wine or indeed new ones. Indeed, the snobbery around wines led us to want to become more knowledgeable and learn more
This was an excellent evening learning about the basics of wine - obviously tasting, but also its production process, types of grape, levels of alcohol and sugar, colours, aromas and flavours.
The instructor, Mark, was very knowledgeable as well as easy to understand and was very happy to answer questions from the half dozen or so students. The tasting element was obviously a highlight but we also learned techniques to help us assess each of the six wines we tried.
We will definitely be booking some of his other forthcoming events this year.
My girlfriend and I went to Cambridge for the weekend and this was definitely the highlight. We done the Saturday wine tasting day and it was worth every penny. Really educational but fun at the same time. I now have new favourite wines which were cheaper than the usual go to wine I have. Would definitely do it again.
Show more...Cambridge venue Easy to find on foot from station. Wine and cheese paring was loads of fun. Mark the wine expert was great, very informative and made it interesting and funny. Decent amount of wine and cheeses to properly experience the taste, 6 wines with 6 cheeses. The 2 hours flew by. Would recommend as a gift .
Show more...Excellent Cambridge Wine Fair organised by Mark Anstead of Cambridgeshire Wine School. The relaxed and informal walk-around format allows you to taste many different wines brought to the event by the participating wine retailers. There is absolutely no hard sell and no obligation to purchase anything, though the opportunity is there if you wish to. It’s very well organised with a little booklet listing the wines being poured by the participants, who are all knowledgable and engaging. There is a mix of the familiar and the unknown - great for exploring and trying new grapes and wine styles. Thoroughly recommended.
Show more...We were bought an ‘Introduction to Wine by Grape’, a three-part evening class at Cambridgeshire Wine School for my husband’s birthday. It was such an enjoyable experience. Each week we were introduced to something new, in a relaxed, but informative way. We were always actively engaged without feeling pressured. It certainly got us through the doldrums of the January blues, the Ukraine War, the NHS in crisis and economic gloom! I hope we are not shallow people!
We looked forward to our Tuesday night sessions. We were introduced to a wide variety of wines and educated about the grapes by our host, Mark.
Mark managed to draw even the shyest of us out of our shells with his well-placed questions. He was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining and charming. The group was small and informal. By the end of the three weeks, we all felt like friends. I would highly recommend this course for both beginners to wine tasting and those who have some knowledge of wines already.
We had a great evening tasting and learning about 6 different sparkling wines! Would highly recommend booking; Mark is a brilliant teacher and makes the sessions informative and engaging. We will be coming back for sure!

I studied for the WSET level 3 wine course. Mark is a good teacher with a great understanding of the WSET curriculum and what is needed to pass the tasting and written exam. The level 3 course is quite demanding and you should be prepared to put in the time to do the extra hours of study outside the class time in order to get a good result. I recommend the course to anyone who wants to be more confident in navigating the world of wine either for work or for their own enjoyment of wine.
