Found this bridge, many years ago on our first trip to Brunswick, it is now a must stop every time we are in the area. It's just a cool take a moment & chill. Gorgeous in the fall with the foliage. But nice anytime of year, unique & special for us.
There is a very small parking lot.

Decided to stop and checkout the swinging bridge. Nice view of the river and fun to walk across. A few plagues denoting information about the bridge. Very limited parking and located on a very busy road. Worth stopping and walking across the bridge.

I’ve visited the bridge and surrounding area, numerous times. I come here when I need a convenient run away, to watch the sun set, to just enjoy the river. One of my favorite “I don’t have a lot of time but I need a few moments” places in the local area.

This is a small bridge across the Androscoggin River. I walked across from the Brunswick side, and it took only a couple of minutes to do so.
The bridge was erected in 1892, and according to a plaque at the site, few of these pedestrian suspension bridges remain in use today.
There was hardly any parking available on the Brunswick side.

We were being routed to the nearest highway and came across this bridge by accident. There's a small parking lot so we stopped by to check this out. This is a true swinging bridge, we were the only two crossing over and felt the full swing. Coming back another party had now started their journey.
I would consider this a hidden gem and thoroughly enjoyed our find.

Let's be frank. It's a bridge. There is a limit to how exciting a bridge can be.
That said, as bridges go, this one is pretty darned good. It's a rather wonky 19th century swinging suspension bridge, apparently (according to the locals) designed by the same guy who architected the Brooklyn Bridge.
But forget the bridge and worry about the view from it. You can see miles down the Androscoggin from the midpoint of the bridge, including the mill in Brunswick and several very pretty islands. Go at sunrise of sunset for best effect.

Worth seeing. Nice little walk. Paths around it, but they aren't very long which makes them pretty great for kids. Bridge leads right over to Brunswick and just minutes walk from downtown Brunswick!

If you are near Brunswick, ME, then take a break and find the Swinging Bridge. It is a full suspension bridge scaled for pedestrian traffic. It was designed by Roebling and Sons who also designed the Brooklyn Bridge. A unique piece of civil engineering built to simplify the commute for mill workers decades ago.

Worth the trip across to see the view from over the river. There is a nice park on both sides of the bridge for a relaxing lunch.

Pit stop here and do the walk! It was super easy to find. Park in the parking lot, and took the quick walk across. Its historic and worth saying you walking across it. It was rainy and cold, so we didnt stay long, but I am sure on a beautiful day, this is really fun to spend extra time on. It was a windy day so we could certainly feel the swing. Was a really neat thing to do while traveling the area.
