Bald River Falls is on a Forest Road off of the Cherohala Skyway. It is a few miles drive from the Skyway to the Falls, but it is right on the road, so if you can't walk very far, this is the perfect sightseeing adventure for you, as you don't even have to get out of your vehicle to see the amazing Falls. There is a parking area just past the Falls if you want to venture out onto the bridge to see it and a hiking trail to the top of the Falls. The hike to the top can be a bit strenuous, so I wouldn't advise it if you have health concerns. A word of caution: Some people have died trying to climb down into the gorge and up onto the Falls, so please don't attempt this and please keep an extra close eye on your children. All in all, a beautiful sight to behold, just use common sense.
It is a totally different experience after a heavy rain than when it has been dry for a while, so each visit can have its own feel. For us, no two experiences are alike. Another reason we love this spot!

We stopped by to enjoy Bald River Falls after camping at Indian Boundary. The drive to the falls was lovely. The falls themselves were breathtaking! There was adequate parking and it was nice to be able to see the falls from the road. There is a hiking trail to the top of the falls that we will have to come back and check out another time. You can also climb down to the bottom of the falls, which we did not attempt this visit but will the next time we're there.

We took the 6 mile drive out the Tellico River Canyon to Ball River Falls which that alone was beautiful. But arriving at the Falls, the veiw was just breath taking. There is good parking just over the bridge on the right. Too the falls area was not crowded at all. It was just beautiful

Tellico is our home away from home. We spend as much time as possible in this wonderful little town. The falls is a must for us on each visit. We have been at various times in the years and it is beautiful in every season. If you are in Tellico Plains or travelling the Cherohala Skyway, Bald River Falls is a must-see attraction. River Road is a great prelude to this beautiful place.

We decided to take a drive and see where we ended up. After visiting Sweetwater (it is an amazing town) we headed to the mountains. Just let me say it is worth the drive. It is a long drive but well worth it. I wish the road to the falls was a bit wider but it is doable. I only wish we had taken a light snack with us. So we could have gotten an even better experience.

Bald River Falls on cherohala skyway is located on Forest Service Road 210. From the Highway 165 in Tellico where you turn right to go up the river, drive 4.5 miles to the turn off to Bald River Falls. The Bald River Falls turn off is clearly marked on the right hand side of the Skyway. You can view Bald River Falls without leaving your vehicle. But its such a magnificent waterfalls so find the parking next to the spot and spend some time enjoying the view. There is short rocky pathway that leads to the base of the falls too which i didnt venture. But seriously take the side trip and enjoy with the family.

BRING YOUR CAMERAand a change of clothes lol I love going here. It is so peaceful and relaxing! There are trails you can hike or places for rock climbing! The water is so clear and clean, I always go swimming lol. There is a spot I always go to that takes you half way up the falls and you can sit right next to the falls! Best stress relieve ever!

If you're driving the Cherohala Skyway, within the first few miles you'll see a sign for a scenic road to Bald River Falls. This is definitely a stop you want to make. It is a few miles down a skinny road, but the drive is awesome and the falls are worth it. You'll get to see the river rapids as you'll follow the bank all the way to the falls. Once at the falls they're quite impressive for something from the Appalachians. Also, there's a great bridge right in front of them if you want to quickly snap a photo of yourselves or your vehicle. Just don't stop for more than a second as there are trucks that barrel through there pretty quickly. Also once there, just cross the bridge to turn around. There's more room on the other side for parking and such.

The falls were absolutely breathtaking! The heavy rains that we've had in the past few months contributed to the natural beauty of the falls. There are plenty of photo ops and luckily we went on a day that it wasn't crowded because parking is scarce. A plus: we found a spot to sit and watched several kayakers enjoying the rapids.
