We heard about Oylat when we were in Istanbul. It was a place we did not want to miss while we visited Bursa. The cave is said to have healing attributes for asthma sufferers. The cool and clean air within was a welcome respit from the sizzling July heat outside. Inside there are amazing rock formations and so many different stone surfaces that are difficult to describe by words. Getting there from the city is easy. First a 15 minute car ride to Inegöl and another 20 minute ride to Oylat. We also enjoyed the little town of Oylat and the open market as well as the stores that sell many natural, locally grown herbs, teas, honey, candied chestnuts, and supplements. People were extremely lovely and hospitable. It was difficult to leave that place without leaving a part of each of our hearts.

I was travelling from Burdur to Istanbul and I decided to stop over in this area to have a fresh pause from the torrid turkish summer. It was a great idea, Oylat is a nice village at the end of a small valley in the mountains near Uludağ group. In Oylat village you can find hotels, restaurants, a public hamam (cheap, only 5 TL) and a genuine and peaceful fresh atmosphere. There is also an organic market where you can buy delicious rare berries and nuts picked from the woods around. Women make wonderful organic jams from these berries. In the area you can also visit a wonderful cave ***.
