Smoke & Mirrors Comedy & Magic Theatre Pub

Had a great evening at Smoke & Mirrors. A unique mix of comedy and magic which was very entertaining. Expect audience participation but this was part of the fun.
The only downside - concerned to see the designated and clearly marked fire exit at the rear of the ‘theatre’ completely obstructed by high tables and chairs - not good from a safety point of view and I’m sure not in accordance with the building’s premises licence. I don’t wish to be a killjoy but the desire for cramming people in to maximise income shouldn’t come at the expense of safety.

We took part in one of the lockdown magic and comedy shows on Zoom.
It was great !

Mark made a great job of engaging all the audience in the show and keeping us all entertained.

Some excellent tricks, many of which were well designed for the lockdown video environment.

Would highly recommend !

Went along to the first family show of the year last week. Had a brilliant time this place certainly deserves its glowing reviews. We all thoroughly enjoyed the show and would definitely return. Rich got loads of the audience involved although there was certainly no pressure if you didn't want to. Tricks ranged from good to how on earth did he do that!!! There was also a huge helping of comedy thrown in for good measure. Thanks very much for a great afternoon!!!

Came as a hen party. Fantastic show. Haven’t laughed that much in a long time. Mark Bennett is a great entertainer. Lovely intimate venue. 10% off at the bar and 2-4-£10 cocktails if you’re attending a show. Bar and front of house staff so friendly. Great customer service all round, very accommodating, would definitely come again if in Bristol and definitely recommend.

Great show but woman showing people to the tables totally ruined it.

She insisted we stay in the venue despite being the first people there 40mins early.

Later after the show I sat on a free table with no reserved sign and she snapped ‘you can’t sit there!’ And proceeded to sit another couple.

When I enquired, she complained that I should have read the email and insisted that it said o would not be able to sit after the show.

I checked the email and she is talking utter rubbish.

Disgraceful way to treat customers.

Visited last night for the first time. Made very welcome by all the staff. Extremely well set out to adhere with social distancing.
Had a deal which included a pizza & Prosecco.
Unfortunately because of the curfew most of the customers turned up just before the show started & left straight after.
Really hope this gem in Denmark street survives the curfew & Covid situation.

Great fun , we booked a cocktails and magic event, booking was easy with a nice choice of cocktails we could arrange . The value proved exceptional.
The welcome was friendly with a briefing of how the event would develop .
The cocktail part of the event was conducted by a young lady who explained and displayed every step in a clear , friendly manner .
Any questions were dealt with very well in a manner that was excellent.
We then had an opportunity to relax and enjoy our efforts while we were given a tutorial by an in-house magician , we were supplied with everything you need to turn your lesson into practice.
The magician made sure with individual guidance and tips on how to perform your ‘trick’.
This cocktail / magic process was repeated a further twice with different cocktails and tricks .
We were lucky enough to be shown a few more card tricks before we left .
A cracking way to celebrate with friends .

Upon ariving we were greated and seated in the bar by the welcoming staff. Unfortunately we missed out seeing the walk around table magic as there was bot enough time so I recommend getting there early if you wish to see this. Once we were ready we were seated. Before the show started we had some upbeat 80s music which I thought was good. The first act was mandy muden from bgt she was very funny and cheeky and also performed some fantastic magic. The 2nd act was mark. He engagement with the audience was great and a good laugh. His tricks baffled me and I'm still trying to work them out. Overall a good night out not laughed this much for sometime and nice to get out the house. I highly recommend it.

In these difficult times when lots of companies sit back , Not smoke and mirrors , enter comedy/ magic via Zoom , we booked up for a performance . It was good fun , difficult for the performer as there no close audience but it turned out to be a really enjoyable experience , funny and mystifying . Bravo Smoke and Mirrors . Can’t wait until we can be there ‘ live’ in the theatre .
Innovation in times of hardship .

We attended the first 2020 family magic and comedy show and we absolutely loved every second. Richard was incredible, injecting magic and humour at a time when the world is in crisis. My partner and I loved it just as much as my sceptical 7 year old did, who came away in awe saying "when can we go again". Please do more of these amazing family shows, and please go see them! Plus.. The pizza is awesome
