Feb 2nd, 2020
Open 7 days a week from 10 February 2024 until 31 October. The National Centre for Birds of Prey at Duncombe Park is the largest collection of these amazing birds in the north of England. You will find over 150 owls, eagles, vultures, falcons, hawks kites and more in a spacious 10 acre setting. We are a leader in the captive breeding, welfare and conservation of these awesome birds. Please don't compare us to other bird of prey centres, we are in a different league! We have a team of trained bird who fly three times a day at 11.30, 14.00 and 16.15. Different birds are flown at each demo. We even have an indoor area if the weather isn't being kind. In recognition of the quality of the National Centre for Birds of Prey - we won our category in the White Rose Awards, the UK's largest regional tourism awards and then we won best attraction in the Visit York awards

We saw two flying displays. The falconers were knowledgeable and had a really good rapport with the birds. They spoke to the crowd really well. The audience whilst we were there ranged from 4 to 80's and everyone was listening. The owl cafe food was priced very well and the quality was very high. The stamp trail for the kids was a good addition to keep ours interested in walking round even on a wet day. All in all a really good day out. We would definitely visit again and try and see some more of the estate. Highly recommend.

Spent loads of time in a our group of 6 - able to ask loads of questions about the birds while they were flying and landing on our gloved hand.
We did the Hawk Hike, where Ben took us for a hike into the woods and brought along a Harris Hawk that followed us around swooping in for food as we talked.
A great day out at a lovely centre for Birds of Prey
Enjoyed seeing a wonderful variety of species of birds of prey.
Thoroughly enjoyed the two flying displays and the information given by their handlers/keepers.
My only suggestion would be if the handler/keepers could give the opportunity for questions after the displays (socially distanced of course!). I do understand they must make sure the birds are safely returned to their locations after the displays, but it would be nice to have the opportunity to ask a question informally.
Tip, if you show their current publicity leaflet you get 10% off of admission price.
My husband, myself and our 24 year old son visited from 10.30 to 2.45 pm. It was lovely not to have to prebook and there was plenty of room to maintain social distancing. We attended two of the displays. They run three displays a day and each uses different birds. We really enjoyed the commentary which advised about the particular bird and it's place in the wild/overall ecosystem.
We also enjoyed a simple but well made lunch of soup, baked potatoes and sandwiches. The price was reasonable.
We didn't have time to do a walk but the surrounding grounds looked inviting.
We visited as a couple on Thursday 19th August 2021 and found the £10 admission fee which includes parking, total use of grounds and up to 3 displays of the birds of prey very good value, especially if you decide to stay for the 3 demonstrations. In between the display times you can explore the large grounds, see all the birds and visit the reasonably priced cafe. Great for a family day out.

In addition to our regular visits (about 3/4 times a year) we also enjoyed one of the winter owl evenings last year. It was a fantastic experience and I’d recommend it to anyone who fancies doing something a little different when the nights draw in.
NCBP is a perfect day out. We usually turn up in time for the first afternoon flying demonstration, then pop to the cafe for lunch, have a wander round seeing our favourite birds (I recommend spending some time with the crazy caracaras) and then head back to the flying ground for the last demo of the day. It truly is my happy place.
We have just spent the morning here looking around the aviaries at the fabulous birds. We then watched the flying demonstration of an eagle, owl and hawk. Can highly recommend this, the two guys were very professional and informative but also really entertaining!! There is also a lovely cafe selling hot food and drinks. All covid precautions are well placed throughout the centre.
We would definitely return.
The Centre is located in a beautiful area and is probably the best Bird of Prey centre that I have visited. Expectations were exceeded on all counts. The Flying displays were excellent and featured a variety of birds from Eagles to Burrowing Owls. The passion and enthusiasm for the birds was evident in the Aviaries, the handling, Conservation work at the centre and the information provided. Admission also buys you a very nice booklet to read later.
There are great opportunities for the amateur Photographer on a general visit especially on the Hawk walk where the flying birds are kept outside of the Aviaries.
Do take advantage of the excellent Owl Cafe while you are there.
At the present time the Centre is taking all reasonable precautions against the virus and we felt very safe at all times.
Visited here on Saturday the place is well set out with a well signed walk round the aviaries so you can see all the birds. The flying display was good and informative.the cafe has a selection of light bites and sandwiches for reasonable prices.

We visited today - a cold, grey, miserable, mizzle filled day, but it was so worth suffering the weather to see the magnificent birds at this centre. The owners and staff have worked incredibly hard to get it to its extremely high standard and even though there were only four people there, we were still treated to a superb flying display. Admission fees are not expensive and we will definitely visit again if we are in the area - preferably on a nice, warm, sunny day!
