My wife and I walked across the peace bridge today a very scary trip with the wind speed which felt at times could blow us over. It appears slightly neglected glass panel and wooden benches broken and overall appeared tired. Cost of £25 million amazing price. The entire city was deserted no tourists sadly.
Show more...What a beautiful walk across the river Foyle! The Peace Bridge is a short but meaning way to walk from one side of Derry to the other. From a distance it looks superb, either by day or when it’s illuminated by night.
Delightful at any time!
Was extremely windy when we completed the walk over and back even bags on the pram had to be held down so if you plan to do it when its windy outside hold on tight. The glass behind the benches on the bridge where shattered and some blocked off for safely reasons. Be nice if you got to the other side and there was a few things to look at but there really wasn't, the view was good. All in all it was a nice walk and would be better in heat.
Show more...The peace bridge is already spectacular for the rich history behind it and certainly for its symbolic significance to the Derry peace process. Beyond its significance it is a stunning piece of art that is a captivating part of the landscape. It meanders across the Foyle and is a wonderful place to take an evening stroll on the Derry waterfront
Show more...Visiting Derry on a trip of Ireland. The Peace Bridge is a very smart pedestrian footbridge made of steel and of modern construction. Can be found over the River Foyle and across the road at the rear of the Guildhall in the city centre. Worth a look.
Show more...This famous Peace Bridge is a beautiful constructed footbridge which connects both sides of the community. It is close to the train station and a lovely walk to the City Hotel where we stayed, providing access to the city of Derry and all its tourist attractions. It has become a main feature and is definitely worth a visit.
Show more...A beautiful landmark, the Peace Bridge spans the Foyle River between the nationalist Cityside and the unionist Waterside in Derry. It is a cycle and foot bridge, and it’s a great place to get views up and down the river. But it’s also an eye-catching symbol of the city’s efforts to bridge the gap between formerly warring factions. We approached the bridge after walking the Derry Walls and visiting the magnificent Guildhall on the Cityside. The bridge is very close to the rear of the Guildhall and well worth a stop.
Show more...We walked back to the train station from the city over the bridge. The wind was very strong so we were getting blown a lot but I enjoyed it.
There is a new path straight to station very new. This does not come up on the google map.
An early morning walk on this recently built EU footbridge over the River Foyle was a lovely experience. The bridge is easy to ID with its brillant white cabling often seen on car bridges. The bridge is easily accessed across from the Guild Hall where, on a side exterior wall, there was a plaque commemorating Captain Michael Browning of the Mountjoy for clearing the boom built on it by James II and Louis XIV's forces. By crossing the bridge, one certainly gets a feeling of how wide the Foyle River is and what it must have taken to build and the clear the boom on it in 1689. The river was quite calm this morning so different from my hometown river whose waters seem to be in a rush to exit into the ocean. We returned back the same way to the Guild Hall since there was nothing of interest on the other side of the Foyle River for us.

We walked over here while touring the city. It's shaped in the form of a hand shake in the hope that this will bring communities together. There are seats halfway across if visitors just want to relax and enjoy the views for five minutes. If you take the train to Derry from Coleraine, the bridge will be on your right and as you leave the train you walk back towards the bridge and cross it to enter the city.
