Shocking parking. Need to sort it out could not park anywhere and people getting stuck in sand trying to park. If you want to destroy the underside of your car or pay £6 to park on a verge - if you arrive before 6am - crack on. Had to leave could not park
Show more...The car park is expensive, machines difficult to use. Barriers confusing. No attendants. Looks as though any mistakes on the machine input would leave you stuck in the car park. Drove straight out . I have lived here for 40 years and will never use this car park ever again. It was almost empty since the draconian parking system was installed recently. I hate the place now.
Show more...Car parking was easy in the car park, cost £6. Imagine it can get full on low tide and nice weather days. The beach doesn’t appear until the tide goes out on the car park side of the river. Swimming in the river is prohibited. Lots of kite surfaces out and horses about. Great for doggy adventures. Kids had fun digging up the sand. Rock pools but no wildlife when we went.
Show more...Great beach and space but parking was a nightmare. Tried 3 different pay points all out of order. Took the £6 in coins recommended and couldn't pay with them. Trying to set up pay app on a very windy coastal site is all but impossible. Kept telling me there was an error but repeated my card details back perfectly. Having broken my own rule of handing over card details to unusual source I spent the rest of day and night stressing especially after receiving a spam message about updating my details. Relief to see my online bank statement today taken £6.70. Not even sure what the 70p is for but a relief that's all that's been debited. Never again if I can't pay with cash I wont stay. NB: machines tell you input registration but it's actually only the last 4 digits not whole registration. Not a good experience 👎
Show more...One of many dog friendly beaches we found around the area, but disposal of dog waste is obviously not high on the council agenda. Over a 2 hour, 6 mile walk, we found one bin. This was at the start of the walk, so I had the dubious pleasure of carrying the contents of a Great Dane and Labradors bowels for 4 miles.
There is plenty of room to keep away from other holiday makers and dogs and it was great to be able to let them off and still see well in the distance for any approaching people.
Car park has plenty of room and when we were there, all the pay machines seemed to be working ok.
Ogmore is the perfecr place to take your dog for a walk . either on the green common land or the huge beach if the tide is out.
Children love the rock pools and the sandy beach and sometimes an ice cream van.
The parking system changes frequently and can be complicated.
The sunsets are magnificent and a photographers delight.
Pack a picnic and go early so that you can get agood spot because in hot weather Ogmore can be a huge trzffic jam.
First time visiting this wonderful coastal expanse, it has all the beach types you can imagine along a wonderfully long coastal walk, sandy beach, pebble beach, rock pools, sand dunes, loads of lovely walks. The beach has a public toilet, plenty of parking (though I parked out a little further and walked in), a couple of nice cafes (I recommend the Welsh Coffee Co.).
The only thing it could probably have more of are bins, so we can clean up the human rubbish washed up on the shore to protect our wildlife.
This was our first visit to the beach and there was plenty of parking spaces (small charge applies), public toilets and bins The beach was vast (the tide was out) and clean, with fantastic views and rock pools.
Within the vicinity there were plenty of walks along the cliff tops and restaurants to eat at. We didn't go in the sea, because it was cold and breezy. We brought a pack lunch, but on the way home we bought chips and fish finger sandwiches from the 'Yellow Chip Van'. The food was very nice and reasonably priced. We would definitely return and recommend a visit
Beautiful, clean wide beach. So many people enjoying a day out when we got there but the beach is vast so not overcrowded. Plenty of room for kids with kites, dog walkers, even a horse in the sea!
Car park had plenty of room.
There are toilets.
We took a picnic but treated ourselves to squid and chips (£10) at a little van parked there. It was delicious and plenty of it served on a plate not in a polystyrene box.
We took a couple of deck chairs and spent a really relaxing day out that didn't break the bank.

The positives. Everything about the beach area was nice. Dogs are allowed which is great. There is a fair bit of space for car parking and this brings me to the really poor aspect of visiting.
Show more...The negatives. The car park is £1 for 1 hour and then £6 for over an hour. It's like being mugged at the pay point. A number of people paying were disgusted at this abysmal pricing policy. It wouldn't be so bad if the car park fees were put into the infrastructure but it isn't. The toilets are absolutely disgusting. I imagine they were last properly cleaned several years ago and probably have never been renovated since they were built. The council (?) have decided on a great way to spend the money. They spent it by installing a Number Plate Recognition system so they can persecute anyone who might be a minute over their alloted time. Make sure you don't make a mistake entering your number plate when buying a ticket or the NPR will not recognise your vehicle when you leave. Then you will be fined unless you kept your ticket.
