Show more...Had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The staff are extremely helpful and very happy to help you wherever they can. This hotel has a great feel about it, lots and lots of history in the building. The rooms are absolutely amazing, would definitely reccomend the four poster bed, so so comfortable. The hotel is right in the middle of the town, so central to anywhere you need to go and easily accessful from the local surrounding main roads. We stayed only one night, as working in Norwood Park down the road and found this was a great location. Very large free standing bath too, perfect for a hot soak after a long journey. Overall a very pleasant stay and extremely reasonable price too. Would definitely like to visit again Thank you :)
Show more...Very warm and welcoming place. Staff and service is fantastic. The building and interior is beautiful - I was astonished when I walked in. Surpassed any expectations I had. I shall definitely be returning in the future!
Show more...I had my husbands surprise 50th party in the Minster Suite. David and his team were absolutely amazing from start to finish and looked after us so well. Nothing was too much trouble. The buffet food was fantastic and all the guests commented on how lovely the food tasted. I would most definitely recommend!!!!!!!!!!
Show more...This quaint and historic hotel was a treat from check-in to check-out , Our room was in the old part and had a Four poster bed which was very comfy , also had an on-suite with a roll top bath with overhead shower . Breakfast was included the full English was delicious ,
Show more...We stayed 2 nights whilst singing at the Minster. Overall this is a very interesting place to stay, and extremely convenient for us. The lounge was very comfy and stylish. A lovely place to relax and have a drink with friends The outside area was beautiful and we would have used it had it not been raining! The car park was very convenient and the staff were very helpful. Our stay was good but could have been improved: - insufficient sockets for charging in the bedroom - no spare socket for the kettle - no storage or hanging space for clothes - coffees in room were not refilled - breakfast was adequate, but in a lovely room - dinner was ok but a bit pricey, and we expected better for the money
Show more...We stayed for one night in one of the few hotels in Southwell as we were visiting friends and we were told that The Saracens Head was the only decent hotel in Southwell. It was however, extremely overpriced for a dated and tatty hotel, which is in much need of some TLC. Our room faced onto the main road and we expected some noise but the windows were so bad we may as well have slept outside. Room was dated, tatty and not cared for. Bathroom had hand soap and a tiny bit of shampoo only. Shower was like standing under a broken gutter. Staff were friendly enough and the location was excellent.
Show more...We stayed in Rm 4, which had been newly decorated and carpeted. The bathroom was quite small but everything worked OK. I would suggest some shower gel is provided or some soap. There was shampoo and hand wash only. The room was noisy with some sort of machinery noise coming from the old buildings opposite. Check in after office hours was a challenge with the outside door locked and you had to summon the owners by phone. The restaurant and bar was closed on Sunday evening and also the next few days. We found a pub and an Indian restaurant down the road. Breakfast was Ok - not much choice but some nice fruit, which is always good to see. The whole stay caused us much amusement with talk of ghosts, many clocks chiming at various intervals and a feeling that the place was being run on the owner’s terms. We wouldn’t have missed it for a minute but won’t rush to return.
Show more...Visited the New restaurant , and I was really pleased , the food was excellent and the level of service was also very good. It was good to go somewhere locally didn’t serve just pub food. It wasn’t cheap but it was well worth paying that big extra.
Show more...In Southwell for a wedding, one nights stay £140, given room 15, I'm going to appreciate the historical history & age of this place & not totally rip it apart, floor boards squeaked, furniture tired, cardboard cups in room, noise from what was ever outside our window, breakfast & parking was okay, but it made me realise I why now quite enjoy staying in the newer type Premier/Holiday Inns

We were looking around Southwell and were fortunate to visit the restaurant on an evening when it was open to non-residents. There was a good choice of options on the menu: some traditional and other less familiar dishes were on offer. The chicken was lovely and the aubergine on lentil dahl was well-flavoured. The highlight of the meal must be the basil ice cream covered in white chocolate served with raspberries. 2 courses for £20 pp was very good value. The cloakroom was spotless too.
