The Feathers Hotel, Helmsley

Stopped here for lunch after a visit to Rielvaux. It was a wet and cold day so the warm and comfortable and dog friendly restaurant was just what we needed. Food lovely - perfect eggs Benedict and my husband enjoyed a cracking well filled topside beef sandwich. Highly recommend when visiting Helmsley.

Poor. Staff were rude upon arrival. We waited at the bar for five whole minutes without any sign of a server. Burger was tasteless. The ketchup was a cheap Heinz alternative, which for what they charge shouldn’t be the case - it was vinegary. There was no soap on the Gents toilet. I’ve visited before, and get the feeling they’re so busy with tourists, they don’t care about their operation.

Such a treat to stay here again. The only downside was we had only one night (Sunday) as the hotel was fully booked on the Saturday. Everything about the hotel facilities is excellent complemented by lovely staff who provide great service and are so friendly. Value is 4+ star but we gave 5 in this review as we took advantage of the Valentine's Day deal the Coaching Group offered. Helmsley is very pretty and we love walking in Duncombe Park. We are planning our next stay already but will visit in Autumn/Winter/Spring as the town gets very busy in Summer with visitors - which, of course, we are too!

A very quick trip to Helmsley to visit a friend and The Feathers was the perfect place to stay. Good value room overlooking the Market Place, lovely roast beef dinner and cooked breakfast, friendly and attentive staff.

Excellent stay as always - 2 couples Lovely friendly welcoming staff, delicious Sunday dinner. Both our rooms clean and warm. Busy but still high standards in dinning room. Back New Year if not before

We have stayed here so many times can not fault one thing on the place the staff are so friendly, the rooms are fantastic and the breakfast is amazing. No other hotel in Helmsley compares to this one.

My husband booked us a two-night stay at The Feathers as a belated birthday present, choosing it as it is dog-friendly. This turned out to be an understatement! From the moment we walked in, we and our (very large) dog were made to feel welcome. She was fussed by guests and staff alike and had a lovely time. Our room was spacious and equipped with everything we could need. A particularly nice touch was the “doggie pack” which consisted of a large bowl, towel, poo bags, tennis ball and natural dog chew. We had breakfast both mornings which set us up for the day and meant we didn’t need lunch. The pub area of the hotel was busy throughout our stay with a mixture of guests and locals - testament to its popularity. Set on the edge of the market square of the beautiful town of Helmsley, this hotel is a must-stay venue whether you are travelling with a dog or not, but preferably with!

We have stayed at The Feathers many times - WHY ? Because you are always welcomed like returning friends - ALL the team of staff are excellent and would do anything for you to make your stay memorable.

Fantastic food and service. We could not eat at the hotel we were staying at nearby. So we drove into Helmsley for some food. We decided to try The Feathers Hotel. We were greeted by the Deputy Manager. Who was such a friendly, polite gentleman. As we had our dog, we were seated in a dog friendly area of the bar. The food we ordered was amazing. The dog was treated to some treats and water. We felt really welcome, and had an excellent experience. We will definitely come back to eat here in the future. And most likely book a hotel room too. Thank you to staff and chef. Brilliant service.

We stayed for my partners birthday and we were very pleased with the standard of the hotel and staff. The good was lovely and we would definitely book to stay again and would happily recommend to friends.
