Lovely experience at the Jazz Bar. Very small, we got there for 8pm and got a seat however as the night went on people were standing so I would recommend getting there earlier. Very lovely staff and fantastic band. Really would recommend.
Show more...Had a good night here recently on a very busy Saturday night. Staff make good drinks and service was pretty quick. Actually came to review this place mainly due to the refreshingly sound door staff who rather than treat the customers like cattle they're doing a favour for letting in actually engage in conversation.
Show more...Friends took us here, and we are glad they did. Since we were there for conversation as much as the music, the four of us opted to sit in a nook just inside the downstairs entry. It was a good spot to chat and to occasionally look towards the stage to see the source of the music. The bartender was quite friendly; we chatted about beer and about the firey ginger drink.

My friends and I had a very enjoyable afternoon on Sunday 12th November, listening to Fayne and the Cruisers.
The venue is great with very pleasant staff and good sound, but can I make a suggestion please?
The entrance is a health and safety hazard and an accident waiting to happen.
I worked for Edinburgh Council for many years and have carried out many risk assessments, so I am very aware of safety issues.
A few adjustments would make all the difference.
When we come down the stairs from outside it is very dark.
Could you install decent lighting on the stair, a handrail from the door down to the bar, and highlight the edge of each step and highlight the handrail.
I would love to visit the bar again, but without the safety risk!
We went for a couple of drinks and to listen to the act before a dinner nearby. The place was pretty quiet when we arrived but it was getting busier as we left. The act was really good and I imagine it would be a great venue for the later evening acts.
Show more...This was my first time visiting a jazz bar and I really enjoyed it. It was lovely and relaxed. One thing I would say is to get there early if you want a seat, as you pay for the show I don’t think many people left once there. Standing area was a bit awkward as it was by the bar, so hard when people wanted to get to the bar for a drink. I’d definitely return
Show more...Loved the music. Always a reliable place for entertainment. The selection of drinks is poor and although there are vast numbers of bottles behind the bar, the staff didn't seem to know any classic cocktail recipes. They made a mediocre martini. The beer was kind of flat and the recommended sauvignon was cheap and nasty. The prices were inconsistent (different for same drinks different round) and it was hugely expensive. It lets down the overall experience.
Show more...Really enjoyed the jazz, really great last night; Colin Steele Quintet Play Miles.
Getting drinks quick & easy and honest as I asked for drink to be light on the gin and therefore unexpectedly price was reduced, nice surprise.
Get there early for a seat and many people were left with standing room only.
An absolute joke of a place. Conflicting rules and advice from staff, loud rude and frankly bullying behaviour. If you value your sanity and need somewhere that values your custom do not set foot in here! Can only assume this behaviour is a bizarre attempt to foster some nutty kind of reputation. Awful. They can s***e their hospitality up . 🤣🤣🤣

I stayed in Edinburgh for a month, and stopped in the Jazz Bar at least twice each week. Outstanding musicians on stage each night. Pleasant, efficient staff running the operation. Great selection of beers and whisky’s on offer. My favorite night of the week is Tuesday - when they invite anyone in the room to put their name on the list to play a set; a number of Univ of Edinburgh music students perform, great night to be about In Edinburgh!!!
