Show more...The market has a nice vibe. But the prices are around 50% more expensive than food markets in Central London e.g. Mercado Metropolitano or Boxpark, while the quality of food lower.
Hopefully the likes of Street Feast or Boxpark will be expanding north soon. This place needs some decent competition!
While in the area to go to a wedding we thought we would go and see the market as it has been raised as an inventive way to turn around a retail resource.
We were able to spend time around the creative artisan stalls selling a range of items. There was a second aspect dedicated to dining which seemed very popular, as Covid guideline were still in place and we kne we wouldn't be eating we did not take up a place , so were only able to view this from outdoors.
Altrincham itself was a bustly place, with many shops , which we were surprised about giving its location so close to the City of Manchester. There were many attractive coffee bars, lots of artisan food shops and lovely interior shops.
Loved our visit here, such a vibrant part of town. Lots of food options and loved the atmosphere. We visited on a Thurs pm and was busy, expect it would get very busy at weekends. Not everywhere open when we visited which was a shame. I had tacos and Tony had a steak sandwich, love you can all try different options and then sit together.
Show more...Lovely market with nice goods - flowers and gifts. Visited the market for food. Luckily at 4pm on a Sat was only a short 10 min wait for outside table. Dropped a star as it was a little pricy and not all the restaurants were open so only small selection available on app to choose from. Little Windows had a lovely Crab Linguine and Focaccia. Would love to try some of the other food. Nice outdoor cosy seating.
Show more...You sit in this hall surrounded by very individual stalls, mostly inventive. And they bring the selection to the table. We had spicy sausage on chickpeas followed by buns, and brought fresh bread to augment! But you can mix your own
Show more...Our visit was ruined by one staff member who made us feel very unwelcome - he basically said ‘who let you in’.
After being welcomed in by a sweet staff member at one of their entrances, we were then confronted by someone manning the other entrance. We were asked ‘how we’d got in’, asked to point out the member of staff who did let us in and then reluctantly told we could ‘look around’ but then had to leave & join the queue all over again. I’d been taking my cousin who works for the NHS for a night out since she’s had an incredibly tough year, and honestly we felt so unwelcome we just left. A real shame.
Been coming since this opened. Now feel ripped off. All prices seem to have soared in last couple of weeks. The Black Jack brewery seem to have lost the plot completely and dropped their popular beers and had hiked their prices.
Disappointing. (From a regular).
The glass market section has really gone down hill post lockdown. Some of the my favourite non food stalls such as Room 356, BE lifestyle, Chloe Robinson flowers and V H Interiors have left the market! Although the latter two both now have their own shops in Altrincham which is a bonus.
The only stalls that stand out now are Joe and Co for mens clothing, Don Grant for artwork, B and V for pet supplies and the flower stall on Market St.
The general hygiene in the glass section of the market is very poor. The floors are greasy, the stalls are basically dog peeing posts and the stalls are covered in pigeon droppings.
We had Vietnamese from Banh Vi which we’ve had previously. The service was pretty poor on this occasion and whilst the food tasted ok, 2 out of the 3 of us who ate there were ill the following day. Whilst reporting our issues on the FSA website, we discovered Banh Vi have a 1 star “major improvements necessary” rating!!
Something needs to change otherwise the market risk falling behind the other businesses in the town.
We arrived here around 2pm on a Sunday and it was fairly busy, but we were lucky enough to get a table as some people were just leaving.
A staff member came over and cleaned the table and we ordered and paid for food at the stall as we're not very good with apps.
They said at the Honest Crust pizza stall it would be around 30 mins wait but that was not a problem as we were in no rush, and the pizza arrived around 20 mins later. It was a sour dough pizza with tomato, mozzarella and portobello mushrooms and was delicious.
I had a mango cider from Jack in the Box bar and that was also delicious.
The food and drinks here are fairly pricey, but they are good quality and lovely for a treat.
We would definitely come back here as we enjoyed the busy atmosphere and our delicious lunch.

Had great food & drinks last Friday, so good in fact that we decided to get drinks to takeaway. My partner had enjoyed a pint of porter from Jack in the Box & decided to get 2 more to take out. Take outs were advertised at 10% discount. What we didn't realise was that takeaway prices have been inflated already (pint to drink in cost £4.20 & 'can' 330ml to take away cost £5 each. When we received the 2 cans we asked for a refund which we were told would take about a week to process, they couldn't do it there and then, not sure why??? Now still waiting for a refund & have no way of contacting the market to find out where my refund is. Please can you process this or I will be contacting my credit card company to escalate.
