If you are on the north side of town (San Antonio) and want to take the kids fishing this is the place to go for a guaranteed catch. They have poles for rent (kind of grimy) and you must use their bait. Also be aware that if you have a small child's pole as we did, it must have at least 12 pound line on it. We were there for about an hour and a half and caught 5 fish. One was really huge, and most others seemed to be getting some large ones as well. There were nice picnic tables that were shaded, close to the water's edge. You might want to arrive early to claim yours. It was also nice to be able to pay and have them filleted. From pond to pan in a few short hours.. doesn't get much fresher.

Driving around canyon lake having a hard time finding a place to fish as parks were closed or full. Found this place and decided to check it out. Long story short, we ended up renting their poles because they said they required a specific line, and you had to buy their bait. Even though we had all of our fishing gear with us we followed their rules because our boys really wanted to go fishing. The pond supposedly only has catch fish but in about 10 minutes we had gone through a box of “their” worms, obviously there were little bluegill eating all our bait, but the hooks on the poles were large so you couldn’t even catch them. People all around us were catching catfish, but obviously had their own poles and also their own bait. My son changed out the hook on his pole to a smaller one and caught 27 baby bluegill that he of course tossed back in, but he was catching something so he was happy. Families kept coming in with their snoopy poles and kids were catching catfish, which was fun to watch. It was very crowded and everyone’s lines were on top of one another. I would say that if you go here, use your own poles and take your own bait and you might have better luck. You cannot catch and release, so be prepared to buy whatever you catch.

Was not impressed. No outside bait fine, no catch and release fine.
Nate the owner was rude, unprofessional, lots of profanity in front of my child. filet skills are minimal left majority of the meat on the bone and wouldnt let use keep the whole fish.
Not returning

Trying to find a place to fish for older women with physical restrictions was impossible until a guide business told me about Fisherman’s Corner. Nathan and Thatia have everything you need to come and fish effortlessly! While Nathan worked hard to clean and filet fish, likewise Thatia worked hard taking care of every customer that arrived making sure every need was met. They even tried to fix my son’s reel when it broke. Their hospitality was something I have rarely experienced in my lifetime, especially from such a young couple. They made sure we enjoyed their world of beauty, nature, fun, convenience, and clearly enjoy being hospitable to all. We will be back to see you again Nathan and Thatia next time we are visiting your area! It is clear that you love all you are doing to bless us all!

Nathan and his team went above and beyond to help us since they acquired Finshermans Corner 3 months ago by going and getting more drinks for us so we didn’t have to leave our fishing as well as staying open 2 hours later for our kids to enjoy the feeling of catching 24lbs of fish for dinner. We’ll be back sooner than later.

Took my eight year old daughter there to fish. Very convenient to get to, grounds well kept and clean. Owner and staff extremely helpful and friendly. Plenty of bait and tackle for sale. Also soft drinks and water are available in the store. You can bring your own fishing poles, but make sure you have at least 14-15 lb test on your reel. The owner replaced the line on my daughter's pole, which was really nice of him. You will also have to buy their bait for fishing in the ponds. Restrooms are available as well.
This is an excellent family experience! My fishing experience is pretty minimal, but the owner and staff were very helpful and patient, and got us set up in short order. My daughter caught a very nice catfish within minutes of placing her hook in the water, and we managed to catch a total of five very nice catfish. They charge by the pound, live weight. They will also clean them for you for free and bag the fillets on ice. They provide nets, stringers, and even pliers to remove hooks. There are a few shaded picnic tables and some benches around the ponds, as well.
For the convenience, fun, and very helpful staff, it's worth the cost and the trip! Watching my daughter reel in her very first fish and seeing the look on her facepriceless!
If you're a beginner, or want to give the kids their first fishing experience, I highly recommend Fisherman's Corner!

Youngest son loves to fish. Researched and found Fisherman's Corner, read the reviews, and we went this morning. They have literally every single thing you need to fish. They will even clean and ice the fish. Every person we encountered at the place was super friendly, helpful, attentive.
As noted by others, you do need to be aware that you pay for the fish you catch. We had a plan = 12lbs was our limit. My son caught five fish, one a 5.8lb monster! 5 fish in 1.5 hours.
I suggest go in the morning during August! Trust their bait recommendationswe did. I hope the place is around long enough for us to go again!
We brought our 8 year old daughter here for her first fishing experience. It cost about $50 total and it was worth it. They provided everything we needed, including equipment, casting lessons and fish cleaning/filleting. They have people circulating to help with whatever you need. We caught 6 fish in about 1 1/2 hours, so there's not much waiting around for the kids. A good experience for a first time. U
