Show more...Going there usually requires a seperate trip to this place, it’s not on your way to/from somewhere, so people make an effort to go there. We went there in summer with our kids, to see around, taste and buy some wine. We were immediately greeted by someone who tried to give us some information about the tasting tour with constant emphasis on how much it was. Nothing welcoming, just a cold script. In addition to this, very poor hospitality- for example, no water offered as a courtesy in the scorching heat. The person who greeted us said they could get us into the current tour, 2 secs later she said that one was actually about to finish and they could get us into the next one in 30 mins BUT the kids would have to wait somewhere else as they weren’t allowed. Then we enquired if there was a coffee shop to get some refreshments/ somewhere we could taste some wine and then buy and answer was no. be Ultimately they said we could just go in and buy wine in tasting hall but we wouldn’t be able to taste any wine whatsoever before buying! I am familiar with some of their wines, so would just go in and buy but this time, another person said the kids would have to wait outside the shop area if we wanted to buy wine then just turned his back and left. Staff is disconnected, careless and not empathetic. Totally oblivious!!! Is it the heat??!!! Obviously we left without buying the wine, in fact, without even stepping in to their shop/tasting area.
I understand that there are some rules and regulations about age restrictions and alchohol but this is utterly disappointing. Not welcoming, no hospitality!!! Do not go there, do not make the effort, not worth it. Their wine could be good but it’s the whole package for me. A good proof of the stark difference between how a brand portrays itself on social media and how it is in reality. Not worth it!
Very amateur, bad company. Customer service is terrible. Purchased their expensive Suss series for $240 which is supposed be their limited edition high end bottles. We purchased it for our very special customer but we wish we just purchased a $10 Doluca. We were ashamed when giving it to our customer because the wine leaked and even the box was messed up. We contacted them emailed back and forward many times, even talked to one of the board members but he was even worse than regular customer representatives. They tried to ship a replacement to our address in the US but then it got stuck at the customs and was destroyed. Then we asked for refund and they did not agree to give our money back. What a shame, what a waste of money.. Stay away from this company and stay away from their wine. You will regret everything about it.
Show more...At first, the people working here should learn not to treat badly to the visitors who only want to taste the wine! If you attend the tasting and don't buy the wine then they become kind of rude which is not acceptable for international vineyard standards. Anyway, their staff needs effective education regarding how to treat the visitors. Apart from this, the place is absolutely located in a fantastic region of Urla. Very green and the garden is amazing. The place is super clean and the tour was also great. Afterward, you may taste 4-different wines. But as I said if you don't buy they become not so friendly. Their look to you will be disturbing. Also, there is no bread or cheese with tasting. The standards are absolutely not comparable with California or France or Portugal tasting places. The prices of the wines are Ok for such quality.
Show more...This place is supposedly one of the most modern wine yards in Turkey and just a few rooms to stay over-night. Although surroundings are extremely pleasant and with a wonderfully friendly young staff, we were put in a room which was next to power generators and machinery station. As it was well-camouflaged with nice coverings we did not notice it; and even worse than that, the hotel administration did not warn us about this fact. But unfortunately when we have awakened with a thunder-like noise storm at around 5:00 o’clock in the morning we only then have realized what was really happening… Later they apologized and refunded the room charge but the huge fear we felt at that moment will keep living in our memories for many years to come. Finally our verdict is this: this is a place for wine tasting only. Taste your wine enjoy the surroundings and leave…
Show more...Wine tasting facility is extremely loud.
Service is lousy and slow.
They don't even offer tissues, when you ask for some, give you one piece only for two.
They serve the tasting wine for numerous white and red wines in the same glass. When you ask for a glass change you get the looks.
Wine is served hot, though suggested to be served around ~17C. The tasting becomes an impossible experince.
Last but not the least, they offer 20% discount to people sitting next to you, but refuse to extend the same offer to you, even when you ask for.
I have visited Urla winery after another winery in Urla with my kid. As my kid fond of nature and grass, he just run to the grass area so my husband had to followed him. I entered into the wine tasting area and asked for half bottle of chardonney which was on the menu. They said they are not serving half bottle, I should buy full bottle. As we have to drive back to Cesme, we didn’t want to drink full bottle. Then, I asked if they have wine tasting just for white wine ( as me and my husband just love to drink white wine), the guy replied we should sit on the table. I replied I have a kid running outside, I just would like to take some wine and go outside. He said they are not accepting people below 18! I visited many winery in Trace region with my kid, I never had such a welcoming! We didn’t chance to taste their wine, so I have no comment about their wines. But I had never see such an arrogant, rude staff in any winery in Turkey.
Show more...You really get impressed when you enter the winery from their local golden dogs to some beautiful plants in their gardens. The cellar tour lasts only 10 minutes with some very basic information and no one gets encouraged to ask questions due to the attendant's rush. You just feel like to leave the place as quick as possible. During the tasting stage, the same thing applied. We tasted 6 wines and we were jumped from one wine to another. These kind of events should be a lot more personal not commercial. At the end, we're visiting their home and we should be treated like guests. Also the cheese and dried apricots they use are the ones you wouldn't even buy for your personal consumption. It's just very poor. Good quality wines just don't match with bad quality ingredients, do they? In terms of the tasting, I very much enjoyed Bogazkere 2015 and the Nero d'Avola & Urla Karasi 2015. Bogazkere wasn't as robust as you would expect due to Urla's different micro climate but it had enough tannin and spice notes with some red forest fruit flavours. Nero d'Avola had some beautiful fresh plum, mulberry and vanilla notes with a good fruit and spice balance. Both wines were really well made. I thought Bornova Misketi was very wishy-washy.

We went following the recommendation of our hotel. We had just arrived and wanted to relax and get a feeling of our new discovery. We had a little dog. We went in to the place, we have been told that pets are not allowed in the bar. We said fine, let’s sit outside, after all it was pleasant. No that was not allowed either. This is a temple like place of a businessman who wants to show off his wealth as well as his pretentious pet project. The only friendly and hospitable character in the entire premise was their Labrador! We have experienced wine tasting / production in France, Italy, Portugal There, the wine production is coupled with a hospitable background which is the landmark of a culture which the Urla wine temple should learn from in order to be a bit more down to earth (literally) and local. Try other vineyards, you get a better sense of this wonderful region and it’s real people
