Leonardo's Last Supper is amazing, and a must see in Milan. The number of people allowed in is limited to 25, and you can stay there for 30 minutes in the large room. Time and space enough to take it all in. Much better than da Vinci's Mona Lisa in the Louvre, where you'll mainly see other people, and long to get out!
Show more...We visited The Last Supper in October 2022 and it was a brilliant experience to see such a famous painting. Much bigger than we expected haha and the room isn’t too crowded with tourists. Please be aware you aren’t allowed to take videos or use flash photography once inside! You can take photos without flash though! Tickets were only €15 but make sure you book your tickets in advance !! We have a link where we got our tickets from on our Instagram account.

First, this has nothing to do with the beauty of the fresco or the brilliance of Leonardo da Vinci! This review is about the ridiculous method of selling tickets. The website says you can easily book online or via email. I did email after failing to work out the online ticket purchase. I received a polite confirmation of the reservation email and It included a link to the ticket service. So, tried that again. It seemed to have worked after I found the tiniest of payment buttons (on my mobile). I set aside 3 spots for 5:15 and it seemed to go through using my credit card. On the day of my reservation I tried pulling up a confirmation voucher and there was nothing! No charge to my card or anything. Decided to go to the box office and try to buy in person. Without boring you with more details I will say that the ticket counter lady was a huge witch. She acted totally bothered by my story and could care less that I had no confirmation. She was so incredibly rude that it turned me and my daughters off to the whole experience. Why do people who despise service take jobs like these? No thanks. I will have to see it another time or online. Sad that they can’t find nicer folks to service such a national treasure. This was at 4:45 pm on Thursday Oct 22 and the woman was sitting in the left ticket booth as one faces in.
Show more...I visited the attraction in 2016 and thoroughly loved it. I was in Milan again this month with friends, who had not seen it, and decided to go visit. The booking office advised that the next available date to book tickets was OCTOBER - they were fully booked up throughout the entirety of August and September. So, a word of warning, if you want to see da Vinci's masterpiece, you need to book well in advance and receive confirmation of your tickets or book through a tour guide or tour company who will have block booked tickets in advance. Out of season, I suspect the booking process is far easier but clearly the summer months are chaos!
Show more...Awful service! Don't waste your time there!
I was forced to throw away my crutches and waterDisgusting!
All that only to discover that many others worked over the painting after Leonardo. Very disappointed 😞
Very stressful experience 😪

It is practically impossible to actually buy a ticket to see Last Supper. All tickets are bought by tour operators as soon as they are released. The ticket itself only costs 10 euro and tours' operators charge anything between 40 and 100 euro. People shouldn't use their services to stop this scam from happening. It is a disgrace that this is allowed to happen.
Show more...I booked this trip 3 months ago. We got to the place 30 min in advance and waited for our local tour operator 'History tours' for 25 min. The lady appeared 4.25 for 4.30 tour, she had hand written note with the list of names. We were not in her list! The guide phoned her office who confirmed that our names somehow were not booked, despite I had an email and print out voucher with my booking and payment confirmation from viator. They refused to include us, and she told us to speak to viator, as she hurried to start her tour.
Tip: keep handy the viator contact number in your country.
I googled and found the global 24 contact for viator- the USA number! Can you imagine how much it'll cost me phoning USA from Milan on uk mobile contract! Eventually I found the UK number for viator, and they were terrible. They tried to send me back to 'history tour to find out what happened to my booking. Then they said that my ticket is non refundable. Then they tried to 'paint' that we arrived late or the failure was ours. I spoke to the lady in UK who transferred me to the Chris from USA. He put us on hold for 10 min at least 3 times. Our conversation lasted 40 min, after which Chris said that we entitled to receive the refund. No apologies, no offers to fit us on other tour.
Don't use viator, if something goes wrong- dont expect a service from them.
We bought tickets for 15 euro's instead from the local guide/representative just outside the church.
We were lucky eventually to get to see the painting 1,5 hours after our scheduled time.
It's not easy to get a Last Supper ticket, so here are some tips and a review of the process. My understanding after extensive research is you can get a ticket in several ways:
1) Directly through the website for the attraction. These tickets aren't released regularly and you need to keep your eyes on the webpage every single day as long as 2 months before your trip to try and buy one, which costs about 12 euro for normal adults (some concessions are available but they are limited). I actually managed to get tickets this way, but it was a lot of effort.
2) First Sunday of the month free tickets - you have to get tickets for this by ringing a phone number. This number DID NOT work for me after several tries - not sure how anyone manages to get these.
3) Go through a tour package. Tour companies buy up the tickets and sell them off at stupid prices because they know how hard it is to buy directly. I have seen packages from about 30-60 euro per person, depending on what else you get - it's not a bad idea if you combine it with other tours.
The actual experience of seeing the paintings (there are two- The Last Supper and another across from it in the same hall) is really nice. You get 15 minutes in the room, with about 15 other people, so it's quite an intimate experience and you really don't need more than that time to get your (NO FLASH) photos and absorb their meaning.
Also we didn't get the audio guide - didn't seem worth it. The paintings were self-explanatory.
Tried to book 3 months in advance and guess what? No tickets available through the official website!!!
On the other hand there are many tickets available through private guided tours which ofcourse cost at least 4 times the price of the normal ticket!
This is a total disgrace ,and a fact that the italian state would take under consideration !Art should be available to be admired from all the humanity and not be used in such a terrible and disgusting way!
Shame on you!!!
This was my most memorable experience of my trip to Milan! I booked my ticket through the Cenacolo Vinciano website which then takes you through to vivaticket. I booked my ticket a week or two before arriving in Milan but if you’re visiting at peak seasons then it recommends to book months in advance so check! I got the 2€ 18-25 years ticket (there are lots of options, under 18s free, senior discount tickets) otherwise tickets are about 15€. I picked my ticket up from the ticket office an hour and a half before my designated time frame and they printed me a ticket with my name on. I waited outside until they let us in and checked bags and then did a small security check. I had to quickly take my bag to the secure lockers as I had a bottle of water with me but that was ok as they waited for me. There’s a security man by the lockers and he will help you put your bags in and out, you also set your own code. You walk a short way through a corridor until the final doors open and you’re in front of the last supper painting. It was incredible!! The crucifixion was also another amazing piece both with notes underneath so you can read about the painting. There were max 20 of us in there. You get 15 minutes to take it all in, there are seats available too. I was not expecting to be that blown away when I walked in, I loved it. The gift shop has got a variety of merchandise although it’s quite small and can get quite full up, it didn’t matter. Definitely go and see the last supper if you’re in Milan, it’s the highlight of my trip!
