This place is beautiful and a great place to bring smaller kids for a swim, way safer than an actual beach. The water is shallow and the perfect temperature. I would come everyday if I could. There are plenty of places to lounge and have picnic as well.
Things to Bring:
Intertubes for the rapids
Watershoes - a must, the sand is extremely rocky and can hurt if not protected
Sunscreen
Blanket
We went through this park multiple times and enjoyed it each time. We could have spent hours just sitting here soaking it all in. We were here during the daytime and at night and it was enjoyable no matter the time of the day.
Show more...Not a lot going on here in winter. If you’re there for the snow like I was, then you’ll enjoy it. Full of dog walkers, runners/joggers, family’s. Would like to see it in the summer.
Show more...I love this park! People walk dogs, play frisbee, skate, play ball and even get in the water and canoe! It is definitely worth it. Walk to REI and it is right there. Enjoy!
Show more...Nice area that has been redeveloped. There are walkways, some bridges- places to walk, ride a bike, picnic or dip you feet in the Platte River. You can even rent a kayak. Several good places to eat or get a craft beer nearby. Easy access by taking the mall shuttle to the end (west) toward the mountains and then walking further west.
Show more...This is a lovely (long and narrow) park between Union Station and the South Platt River. Parts were lovely and well maintained grassy areas while a few parts seem to attract “un-stable” type of folks. As with any large city, Denver has worked hard to develop attractive urban recreation areas that appear to variety of people.
Loved the Millennium bridge that connects this area to Union Station
This wasn't on my list of places to stop at in Denver, but I'm really happy to have inadvertently found it during my travels in the Mile High City. If the weather is cooperating, there are several places to enjoy the scenery while in the shadows of downtown. I took my lunch break there on two occasions, and went back to my project relaxed and refreshed. Looks like it would be a lot of fun from a recreational standpoint as well.
Show more...This park is really a lovely way to escape the city. Tons of dogs romping in the river and a people watching prime location. We were there on Memorial Day, so it was crowded right by the REI store, but we rented bikes there and rode off to explore the park in both directions.
There are many serious cyclists who move FAST on this trail. There are also many electric scooter riders along with other bike renters, and there are places where the trail narrows considerably. Be prepared for some congestion and use good bike manners. We did experience some rude pedestrians who didn’t move over despite the “on your left” request.
If you keep walking down 16th street you will come to the looming Millennial Bridge and after that Confluence Park. This parks overlooks the junction of South Platte River And Cherry Creek. It also gives a terrific view of the backend of downtown Denver.

In-the-know Denver dogs take their owners to this park at the confluence of the South Platte River and Cherry Creek, to wear their owners out with running, chasing, splashing, and swimming. Just downstream you may also see an angler casting a line, or just upstream watch some kayakers shoot the rapids. Plenty of grassy areas for kicking back, people watching, or just hearing yourself breathe. Dedicated trails for both walkers and bikers. These watercourses have in the past, more than once, devastated the area with massive floods. But they were "tamed" in a nature-friendly way, and nature more than paid back with a gem of a recreational site. A must-see for Denver visitors.
