Cable cars were great. Excellent views.
We were taken to the top of Castle by taxi, which was a waste of time and money. We bought tickets to enter the castle, which was disappointing..taking a round trip via cable cars and not entering the castle ruins would have been ideal..

The views are the highlight of the visit to the castle. Overgrown, scaffolding stopping you getting into a lot of the places inside the castle. For the 24 TL entrance fee, they need to be putting the money back into the site. Not much info on what you are looking at. A man with a parrot, taking photos of you & the parrot, & charging you money.
It is a shame this site isn't loved & looked after.
A lot of people have said this is good to visit, but I think they are talking about the area surrounding the castle, where the shops, museum & mosque, coffee shops are. Yes this area is a nice place to visit, but inside the castle, not so nice, so I wouldn't visit again sorry !!

As all tourists evidently visit the hill with ancient ruins it is full of souvenir stalls. Walking a bit further I found a nice workshop where the owner, formerly a lawyer makes traditional pumpkin lamps. They are manufactured delicately from real dried vegetables, the drilled holes are filled with beads which shine in pattern with the light inside. He had also made a stand for the lightbulb, often they are used hanging from the ceiling.

Alanya fortress offers great city view. We took cable car which costs 100 lira per person (round trip). After it climbs to the fortress, you have maybe 10 minutes walking upwards. There is a great restaurant, Gardenia, with amazing view and service. We recommend it 👌

The castle is really well maintained. We went up on the cable car which took about ten minutes (they run till 11pm so you could also go up at night and see the sunset and all the lights along the coast). There's great views and wooden walkways right around the castle walls with lots of little cafes and bizarres to look around along the way. It can get extremely so aim to get up first thing to avoid the crowds.

The old part of the city, surrounded by walls, is a fascinating area to walk around. Filled with shops, cafes, and much history, it makes a great day out. Don't forget to head down to the harbour area to see the "pirate" ships!

Amazing views of Alanya once you get there but there really isn’t much ‘castle’ to see at the very top. At least in terms of the inner courtyard ruins which you need to pay 30 lira to enter. The best bits are the battlements on the way up.

Make sure you get the cable car or shuttle bus up to the top. It’s a much longer journey than it looks from the town and is quite torturous in the Turkish sun.

I accompanied my friend to Alanya, because she needed to see a specific friend. I was so glad to have to opportunity to visit this green beautiful city surrounded by hills. so pleased the place is not over commercialised. especially since our hotel was based in KadiPasa residential area not in the tourist trap. People are friendly and eager to help. I spent a day exploring the castle, well worth a visit. Despite the fact that Alanya is 150 km from Antalya airport, I will definitely go back there with my family

Yes, it is awe inspiring, but it is way up on the top of the hill. Trams and the Teleferik take your up, but then there is a lot of walking around this huge historic property overlooking Alanya. A highlight of our Turkiye travels.

Yes, do pay the extra 15TL to see the rooftop view. It is extraordinary and well the worth the extra pay and steps to see the ocean and city from on high.
