Visiting Old Fort Jackson on Memorial Day was an exceptional experience for my family and me. We had the privilege of witnessing a historically accurate reenactment of the Revolutionary War, complete with cannon fire, engaging actors, and infantry drills. If you find yourself in Savannah, I highly recommend adding Old Fort Jackson to your itinerary.

This was a gem of a visit. The historical interpreter gave a very interesting and comprehensive history of the fort, There were also demonstrations of musket and canon drills together with live firing. We were there at least 2 hours and it was not over busy.
The admission price makes this the best day out around Savannah.

We had a great time at our visit yesterday. The young man (I’m sorry I did not get his name) who was our guide was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. He not only provided tons of information, he helped you feel the emotions of the soldiers and get an understanding of the thinking of the times from both perspectives (North and South). Our experience far exceeded our expectations, especially as we drove into the parking area and could tell this was a very simple operation. You will not be disappointed if you visit.

My wife and I stopped by Old Fort Jackson with no expectations. The fort is interesting with good views but nothing much to do there. By far which made this visit the best is the expert historian talks throughout the day. Definitely look at the schedule. Aaron Bradford gave three short lectures on the history of the region, the fort and demonstrated how the soldiers shot the canons and guns back in that era. He is really good and that made for the entire experience. I would return again to learn more from the guides.

We had a great time despite the heat. The displays were very detailed and informative. Our presenter, pvt Egart was knowledgeable and happy to answer our multiple questions. I will definitely suggest this fort to anyone visiting Savannah.

My two teenage boys and I took a short spring break trip to Savannah and this was the highlight! So much so that we went two days. The fort is somewhat small but has an interesting story. Be sure to time your visit for the daily cannon firings, and if possible, be there for the once-monthly firing of the oldest cannon still is use in the US. The re-enactors are extremely knowledgeable and approachable, and they present the story of the fort in a very immersive way.
