Cukurcuma Hamami

755 Reviews

In various sources it is stated that Cukurcuma Hamam was built in the 1830's. The Kubbe(the wide dome) covering the warmness area, Gobektasi (the squared heated marble) and Halvet (sweating cabin area)are very bright and spacious and still reflect the magnificence of their era. Cukurcuma Hamam has begun to accept its guests as a boutique Turkish Hammam in September 2018 after a long renovation period.

I was staying in the area and wished to visit a historical hammam. It was my first time, so I cannot compare this place to others, but I received the traditional treatment and highly recommend it! The staff were warm, welcoming, and accepting from the very first interaction, and my attendant Zakara made me feel utterly spoiled from beginning to end. My skin was glowing and I haven’t felt so relaxed in ages! All for a very competitive price, especially coming from the US. But the best part is the building itself. Every smallest detail is thoughtful, beautiful, and spotless, and the lavish marble and domed ceiling do not disappoint.
I am a solo young queer female traveler, and I felt perfectly safe here.

My wife and I went for a hamam, massage and my wife had a facial as well. Reserving via email was simple with speedy response. We previously had a hamam in Morocco which left my wife a little uncomfortable about going. Well she loved it! The place is lovely inside, spotlessly clean and everything and every one is there to mak you feel great - it works! Its mixed so we were together for the hamam but my wife’s therapist was female, mine male. The whole experience was wonderful- we came out feeling relaxed and fabulous - needed after a few hectic days trying to see as much as possible in this wonderful city. If we were in Istanbul longer we’d go again.

Really great hammam, arrived in the morning, there was nobody else expect me, all hammam for myself. After washing myself with hot water Alina came, scrubed me and washed me in bubble bath massaging me in the process, washed me again and dried me clean. Afterwards, I relaxed in relax room, feeling reborn.
Staff is really helpful, positive, served me tea, dried fruits and made me coffee while I was waiting for taxi.
Definitely recommend. Not a tourist trap

Compared to most well know hamams, Cukurcuma Hamam offers definitely a more luxurious and private experience in any aspect: changing rooms, main bath room and service. Hosts up to 5 persons each hour, so book in advance. It is a mixed hamam, so you may visit with family. Most friendly for first timers or people who would like a more private experience. Reasonably priced for what it offers, still more expensive than other hamams I visited.

First of all, when you arrive at the venue, the street will fascinate you. You could see the Galata Tower at the beginning of the street. When you enter the building, you can smell the cleaning smell. First, the receptionists will greet you in a very friendly and professional manner. They will explain each step to you. They will help you to your dressing room. After that, your therapist will help you enter the hammam. Woaaaw, that atmosphere was great. I really relaxed there and I feel like a Sultan. Thank you to my therapist Aya for taking such good care of me. She has magic fingers. In short, they actually know what they're doing. I can't wait for the next visit
Note: This is a mixed bath. And due to their capacity, they can only take 5 people at the same time. When you go to Istanbul, you should experience this experience like me.

As I began to type this review, those were my wife’s words “I smell so clean.” This was a great experience. It’s a combo of a skin scrub and a relaxing bubble foam bath intertwined with a massage.

The cost was approximately $45 US and we gave each masseuse a $10 US tip. We spent about an hour there and they provide some detoxifying beverages and a trail mix type snack.

You start by changing into a bikini/shorts they provide and you lock your belongings in a room in the upstairs. After you change, you go downstairs and relax for a few minutes. You are then escorted into a wash room where you pour water on yourself for approx 10 mins. You are then taken into the main room where the staff scrubs away the dead skin, they have you lay down on the slab where you are then covered in soap and massaged. After the massage, you are rinsed off and taken back to the original relaxation room where you have time to melt into the soft beds.

Our masseuses were Ibrahim and Sirin. They were great.

It’s very common for guys to wash guys and women to wash women here, so don’t that let intimidate you if you are squeamish about that setup.

My wife Denise has photos of our experience on Instagram at Island Girl Around the World.

Would highly recommend this experience.

This place is very amazing. Oasis of peace and tranquility. Here you will find relax and calmness and you can charge your buttery for the future adventures. A historical Turkish hamam, but with a French taste. ;) The owner and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Perfectly clean. All sessions are separated by time, so you will not see other people during the procedures. We took the SÜREYYA DREAM procedure - we liked everything very much, especially the scrub for hands and feet-the smell is amazing and the soap massage was very relaxing - we were in the cloud:) you 100% need this especially after the flight. We recommend it! And we'll be back! Thanx a lot.

The best experience we had. We really relaxed, and free our mind. Sevda and Imren was real profecionals and good on their job amd very friendly with us. They make us feal real comfortable. Hammam and the other rooms were clear and decorated in the appropriate style in order to feel the old turkish habits.
Thanks for the experience!!

What an amazing place! I was worried about it, given that it is co-ed, but it was very classy. They only allow six people into the hamam area at a time and I found it very quiet and peaceful. The place inside looks incredible, as if the store Anthropologie had deigned it. I have been to hamams in lots of countries and this by far was my favorite. Great service. Great care. Great facilities.

Recently I was able to visit this spa in Istanbul, quite close to the Galata tower area. The service was spectacular, from the young man who made my appointment to the treatment. The lockers are very comfortable, the spa is beautiful. The bath and massage in the Hamami very relaxing and very effective for cleaning my skin. Then the massage performed by Zarina was marvelous. She knows every part of the body very well and feels in the quality and precision of her massage. Definitely an unforgettable night at the spa. I felt like the same "god" of such splendid attention. You, water thank you all for making me feel so special. If you go to Istanbul, Turkey, this is a must to visit. 🙌🏼🙏🏻♥️
