Head to the Hurrem Sultan Hamami in the heart of European Istanbul for a tradition Turkish spa treatment. Standing where the ancient public baths of Zeuxippus used to be, the current bathhouse was built in the 16th century on the orders of the Empire’s most powerful woman, Hurrem Sultan. You can choose from a variety of traditional baths and massages to suit your needs, including traditional Hammam rituals and aromatherapy. When you’re feeling completely relaxed and done admiring the bathhouse’s stunning Ottoman architecture, head to the on-site restaurant, which serves a delicious selection of traditional Turkish dishes. – Tripadvisor
Show more...This hamam is referred to by many as a "touristy" hamam but it was worth every penny! It was nothing short of an amazing experience. My therapist Selda was incredibly professional and the bath was relaxing after walking all over the city.
Also, Fatima at the reception desk was very helpful and was able to answer all of our questions. The hamam was clean and absolutely beautiful inside.
I would highly recommend making an appointment after a day of sightseeing.
This is by far the most beautiful Bath in Istanbul. Luxury all the way. The service is wonderful and the Turkish bath experience is the best and decently worth the price. Unfortunately I could only go two times during my stay had I had more time I would have gone more I loved the Hamam Ritual. I highly recommend Sinan he has magic hands and makes the whole experience very enjoyable. If you are in Istanbul definitely try the Hamam experience and go all the way at Ayasofya. You will be pampered like a Sultan.
Show more...This was easily a highlight of our multiple week trip around the world. My wife and I both got the hour-long treatment and came out of our respective side totally rejuvenated and excited about the unique cultural experience. Despite the location in the middle of such a busy area it was extremely relaxing inside and the staff made us feel perfectly comfortable. They provide all the required items there so feel free to come in without much preparation. Cannot recommend enough!
Show more...Domed white room,
columned and clean.
Steam-filled senses,
Sweat-soaked bodies seated
on hard, warm slabs of marble.
Softly-spoken words
Murmured in hushed undertones.
Eyes averted
Studying the curves of the ceiling.
All anguish steamed out
Fear and worry, too.
A warm water rinse,
Body scrubbed as layer after layer of dead skin falls away,
Inhibitions fall away, too.
Dirt and grime,
Anger and tension,
All stripped away.
Until you stand glowing,
Honestly naked, fearless and free.
Our concierge recommended this Hamam to us, and we were not disappointed.
My husband and I booked a package that included the hamam bath and a massage for each of us.
The women’s and men’s quarters have separate entrances and they do not allow the other gender to enter. This helped make me feel more comfortable and relaxed.
When I entered the reception room, I was greeted warmly by Fatemah. She explained how the appointment would work and I was given a pestemal wrap, sandals and a pair of disposable underwear to use, and directed to a private room to change. The changing facilities have locked storage for your items.
After a short wait in the lovely lobby I was escorted to the gorgeous, clean, white marble hamam bath (shared facility for women only) where I was scrubbed head to toe with a mit by a woman named Bahar. She made me feel very comfortable despite only wearing the underwear given when I checked in. After the scrub and rinse, she gave me a bubble massage on a heated, circular stone in the middle of the room. This was amazing and I did not want it to end. Again Bahar, was incredible and has a unique motherly instinct about her that made me feel so comfortable. I was told she’s been working in a hamam for a very long time, and I believe they said her mother did as well.
After the bubble massage, Bahar rinsed and washed my hair and body. After, wrapped me up in towels and led me back to the main lobby area for a drink while she changed her attire.
She then led me to a private massage room on the third level where she gave me a wonderful massage with an amazing smelling (jasmine) lotion.
After my services, I changed back to my regular clothes and given tea, and had a wonderful chat with another employee, Rabia. She could not have been sweeter and helped me with restaurant suggestions while we chatted.
The next day I went back to purchase some of the lotion they used during the massage because it smelt so amazing. Both Rabia and Fatemah were there and I was greeted by name with hugs.
The entire experience was divine and unlike anything I’ve done in our travels. I highly recommend visiting if you are in Istanbul. The staff is kind, the facility is beautiful and clean, and I would not hesitate to visit again.
I dont know if it was the package I opted for or the lady that was providing me the service.
This was the sequence of events
You enter to a beautiful building with the most amazing ambience. After changing You are escorted to the bathing chambers. Where the lady pours hot water on your body. Then leaves you alone for 10 mins to do it on your own.
She comes back with a clay pack which she applies on your body and then leaves you alone again for 10 mins for it to dry.
She comes back takes off the clay( smells amazing btw). She asks you to lie down. Now this is where I think I was let down the most. She gives you a foamy massage for 5 mins or so and bathes you again and asks you to go and relax in the relaxing booths.
After paying 120£ I think more of the massage would have been relaxing. In a nutshell you will end up paying that money for doing stuff on your own. At least for me it wasn't the best of the experience
My wife and her sister enjoyed their visit here as a birthday treat. They said the experience was wonderful. The staff were kind and attentive, the location was beautiful and the hammam ritual was lovely. Booking was very straightforward and the cost was very reasonable given the quality of service. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone wanting a special treat in stunning historical surroundings.
Show more...I entered the Hammam very randomly. I was not sure if I want to have the experience. Fatima's warm and inviting personality and explanation of Hammam's features convinced me that the experience worth a shot and I should say it was AMAZING! You get a life time experience of an Otomon Hammam with marble stones, breathtaking architecture, amazing design and beautiful massage rooms with antique colorful windows which takes you to another time frame! Fatima's hospitality made me feel like I'm at home and I felt very relaxed and welcomed! This place is a must see when you travel to Istanbul! Special THANKS to Fatima!
Show more...One of the best Hamams I have ever been. Extremely clean and quiet despite the big number of visitors. We were a group of 4 friends and chose the program of h hole body and hair bath, body massage and face musk. Unforgettable experience ! Thanks a lot and gongratulations to Lisa, Bahar and Hani and to the girls of massage (I forgot their names, they were all very professionals).
Despite the high price, we all agreeded that it was a "value for money".

Fatima who worked at the reception was very welcoming and friendly providing all the necessary information and ensuring a smooth experience.
My attendant was Semra, she was so kind and made me so comfortable and paid attention making the whole experience as fabulous as last time. I particularly recommend the mud mask!!
My husband also had a great experience, his attendant was Saleem who was amazing throughout and made his first experience at this hammam the best!
Will surely be visiting Istanbul again and no doubt the Aya Sofya hammam!
