Turkish Bath The Turkish bath, also know as hamam or hammam, is one of the ancient world's most widely exported customs. The tradition of the Turkish bath was born generations ago, adopted from Romans and Byzantines and then perfected by the Seljuk and Ottoman Turks and has continued even until today. "What happens in a Hamam?" Well, the ritual is simple. After entering to our hamam at Kelebek Hotel, you will find yourself in the camekan with changing cubicles. Wearing only a Pestemal (a large striped or checked towel fringed at both ends and wrapped around the chest), and clanking on the marble floor in your nalins (clogs), you pass through a semi-transparent door and reach the core Sicaklik (hot room). To feel more comfortable, we suggest our guests to have their swim-suits with them as well. Sicaklik (also known as Hararet), is a high room filled with the sound of splashing water, the scent of soap, and wafting steam through which daily concerns and worries cannot penetrate. In the gentle moist heat your body relaxes, and your nerves are soothed. You sit down at one of the marble wash basins which line the walls, and adjusting the temperature of the water to a delicious warmth, dip the copper bathing bowl into the basin and tip the water over your head and body. Waves of relaxation seem to pour right through you as the water ripples down. If you purchase peeling & soap massage, which is known as "Kese" in Turkish Bath culture, your attendant (tellak for men and natir for women) will pour hot water on you and then begin to scrub every square inch of your body. Basically, every millimeter of dead and dirty skin is scrubbed off, even the skin between your fingers and toes. Afterwards you are lathered with liquid soap and shampoo and given the choice of many different massage types including classic, arometherapy, medical, shiatsu therapy and others in special massage rooms with a relaxing music on the background. The massage is guaranteed to make you feel relaxed. When it is done, one last shower and then it is time to leave the Sicaklik, steam room. Then you are given fresh towels and again brought to Sogukluk (the cool room, lobby) to rest, dry off and socialize with other guests which are now "Hamamers". After resting as long as you like, it is time to go. You will get up and get dressed and as you walk to your room and pass by the mirrors, take a fleeting look at yourself. Your skin will be glowing rosily. But you will feel it, as soft as a baby's skin. Even though Sauna is not a part of traditional Turkish Bath, we offer for our guests as well. We have 20% special winter discount on cash payment between 1st November 2015 - 31st March 2016!

My boyfriend and I went for the Peeling and Soap Massage. It was excellent on a cold day here and so incredibly relaxing. We had 10 minutes in the sauna followed by a 30 minute massage. The women who did the treatments made us feel instantly at ease and were very professional. This is a really great experience and well worth the €70 (for both of us).

It is the first time I have tried a Turkish bath and I am glad to have done so in Kelebek Hamam. We were a group of four and we were ushered to our lockers to change into towels and start this wondrous treat for more than 90 mins. I really enjoyed my massage and wished it couldve been longer. I would recommend this spa experience to anyone who wants to experience a Hamam or just tired seeing the sites Goreme has to offer.

My Mum and I really wanted to experience a Turkish Hamam together while visiting the country. We held off booking during our stay in Istanbul and Izmir as the places looked dirty or were extremely overpriced. When we arrived in Cappadocia we booked Package 1 for two people online, taking a bit of a gamble. And boy were we thrilled with our experience! The staff were so friendly and professional; they provided an exceptional service and were very kind. The rooms were so lovely and ambient. We left feeling relaxed and squeaky clean. I can’t wait to come back to Cappadocia and get a hamam here again!

The Turkish bath at Kelebek was one of the most memorable experiences we've ever had. The staff is so kind and receptive and the bath/massage is unforgettable. The water is at the perfect temperature and prepare yourself to be covered in a lush blanket of bubbles. After a week of non-stop walking all over Turkey, Kelebek is the perfect way to top up before flying home. Seriously, don't pass up the Hamam, you will regret it! We loved it so much, we went twice!

My wife and I visited Goreme for a couple of days as part of a trip to Turkey, and while neither of us would consider ourselves "massage people", we felt that we needed to check the box while in Turkey, and we loved it. We booked the Kelebek spa because we were actually staying at the Carus Hotel and asked for message recommendations and they recommended this and arranged the whole experience. For 60 euros per person, we did the Peeling and Soap massage. You can wear your street clothes to the event--we were transported to the Hammam by car from our hotel and once there, were given disposable underwear and towels to change into and stored our clothes in wooden lockers. The experience began with a Turkish sauna followed by the actual massage treatment. The masseuses were all very professional (women, in our case), and started by rinsing us with bowls of warm water followed by a deep scrub with a semi-rough cloth (the Peel). Then they covered us with bubbles and did the manual massage. We loved it. Again, I'm not very well versed in massages so difficult to say how it compares on the pain scale but this was very satisfying and not painful. If we had another day here we would totally do it again.

My partner and I booked the Hammam bath & soap massage and had such a beautiful experience. We had been recommended Kelebek spa by friends who had stayed there previously, and we weren’t disappointed.

The space is physically beautiful and relaxing, I loved that my partner and I could partake in the experience together. We started with a sauna - beautifully preheated and hot, and then undertook the traditional Hammam which was very well performed, washing, bubble soap and massage were all so calming. The therapists were really professional and provided such a lovely treatment, we both feel so rejuvenated - thank you!! We booked directly on WhatsApp and the staff were very helpful.

During my trip to Cappadocia, I visited the Kelebek Hamam & Spa. I purchased “Package 1” which included scrub, face mask, and massage. It is a small spa built in a cave. Everyone was super kind to me. A bathing suit is not necessary but some of the other guests were wearing them. They have lockers to keep your items safe. I was able to shower and blow dry my hair after my massage. At the end of my visit, I was offered some Turkish Tea. The spa was very clean. I recommend to other visitors in Cappadocia.

Lovely hamam :) went with my boyfriend on his birthday. All the staff were very welcoming, and Nurdzhan and her sister (whose name I sadly forgot to ask!) did a great job - the peeling and soap massage were fantastic.
We initially planned on going to another spa, but as it was closed at the time, we ended up booking the Kelebek instead and had a wonderful experience. The only slight drawback was that this spa seemed to be pricier than our other option (where both of us could've gotten the full spa package for the cost of one at Kelebek). However, we did truly enjoy our time here and it was worth every penny!
