I recieved a voucher for Electric Cinema and yet had never heard of it and thought it was something totaly different.
We went to see American Hustle and booked the armchairs for an early evening showing due to where we live and getting home afterwards!
Booking was made easily over the phone and we were allocated seats D6/7 which were in the middle of the row so excellent view! My choice next time would be a couple of rows further back as the screen is very large!
In the foyer is a pick n mix at £3.50 for a carton and its not the big variety found in other cinemas but a good selection.
On entering the cinema to the right is a bar selling snacks and beverages right upto the start of the feature film.
The very front rows are like double beds and then the rest of the seating consists of big leather armchairs with a footstool in front and a small table and lamp in between the armchairs. I sank down into mine and felt like i was a home with a soft cushion behind my head and i could have easily gone to sleep. In the footstools are fleece blankets should you feel cold or just want to get really cosy.
The cost of the cinema is based on two people and is not alot more than any normal cinema so worth every penny for the comfort!
We cant wait to return!
Previous reviews (well the excellent ones anyway) have already described the joy of going to this cinema so I would just like to add a couple of tit bits:
1) The Diner next door had a happy hour between 5 & 6 pm when we went to the cinema. Basically, if you order food then drinks are half price. So, if you order a bowl of chips, you get your bottle of wine half price AND you can carry them into the cinema for your enjoyment when watching the film. We had just popped in for a pre-show drink around 5.45 and it was only at the insistence of the Front of House manageress that we did this so many thanks (Please check the offer is still on before ordering!):
2) The bar in the actual cinema sells an excellent, large box of spiced nuts for around £3 plus cup cakes and home-made Victorian sponges – how good is that?
Worth checking the listings as the cinema puts on a variety of special showings (e.g. Mother and Baby showings), great if you meet their target audience but may not so much if you don't.
.
I was left completely disappointed after my visit.
I went to see 'Tenet'. It was supposed to start at 8:45pm but it actually started at 9:20pm. Am I the only one bothered by 35 minutes of commercials? That caused a problem with my parking, which is difficult to arrange in that area as it is. I didn't know when the movie would end, so I was stressing myself out the whole time as I didn't want to get a parking ticket, of course.
The decor looks amazing but what good is that when you see a huge spider coming down from the ceiling just three feet in front of you. Awful! It landed on the sofa in front of me and then dissappeared into the darkness. Luckily, no one was sitting there due to social distancing. I had to keep my feet moving the whole time afterwards in order to keep it from comming near me.
Another problem that they have - mice!!! I saw two of them running between the rows as I was going to the loo. Oh my goodness!
£50 breakfast.. I was starving, waited ages for service, when food arrived, had to send back my sons food as the sausages were not cooked.
They brought back the same ( now cold) breakfast with the now cooked sausages.
My food wasn’t great - but was so hungry I ate it.
No discount when the bill came- kicking myself for not complaining.
Never again
I wish I could leave a higher review. The room is pretty and the bar is pretty good value for London. It’s one of the guys behind the bar that’s the problem - such an attitude problem and so slow at serving guests, which is annoying given that the bar closes 5 mins before the advertised film time.
Show more...Cinema is lovely (albeit expensive). But the cocktails were foul. We ordered an espresso martini and when I complained to barman he told me he’d run out of coffee despite the fact he was standing in front of an espresso machine! My daughter’s negroni was undrinkable.
And they were £13-15 each.
Don’t order any cocktails.
Having had a terrible week losing a family member, my housemate and I wanted to go to the cinema to take my mind off things. We muddled our days up and turned up on the Sunday when the movie was the Saturday. The attendant there was very nice and gave us the contact details of Lauren the GM apparently, to see if she could help me out. A few emails back and forward explaining the situation (the tickets were not exactly cheap £36) and Lauren said she could do nothing to help. I didnt want a refund only a chance to see the movie again. I understand policy and procedure and that they are a business, however business is built on people and customer service. It was really sad to see that Lauren nor Electric Cinema could do anything to assist, I hope they learn the value of kindness and the importance of word of mouth as I have told numerous people who wanted to go and are now not, and i will continue to do so.
Show more...I was very pleased to receive a gift card for the electric cinema for quite a large amount of money. However due to work commitments abroad I was unable to use them within the time allotted. On calling the cinima to see if I could arrange an extension of only 10 days so that I could make a film, I was informed that they are "completely inflexible" on the matter and I have lost the money on the card! This was very disappointing as I was looking forward to going, they couldn't even offer a one off discount as a good will gesture. I do feel thoroughly ripped off. And additionally iv looked through the review and im not the only one whos been caught out by this, and the cinima isn't trying to defend itself.
Show more...We went to see Beauty and the Beast this evening. We have been coming to the Electric for many years, and it is of course gorgeous, with a wonderful atmosphere and such helpful staff who sorted out the food for us. However, there is definitely a mice problem! My son was sitting on front row bed A12, and a mouse actually ran over his leg to get to a huge black bin bag of rubbish that had not been cleared out from the previous screening. The bag of rubbish was full and there when we walked in at 5.50pm, and wasn't cleared at all while our screening was on. When we left, more people were coming in for a later screening, with no signs of anyone clearing up rubbish. We cleared all the front beds ourselves, but goodness knows what we couldn't see in the dark. This cinema is amazing, but they need to take charge of the problem before it becomes endemic.

Staff very friendly and explained everything, nice bar at the back of the cinema. The room certainly has the wow factor, beds were very comfortable and reasonably priced given the experience is far superior from the chain cinemas.
Show more...Will certainly be back. Didn't try the food so cannot comment on that.
Only slight issue is that the beds need a little table to put your drinks on.
