Show more...I just dropped in to relax for an hour, which indeed I did. I was able to read The Irish Times in a very pleasant space - and I left with a book.
Show more...Wow! For just a library it has some spectacular window views overlooking some of Newcastle and the mourne mountains. Didn't think it was so big inside. What a wide variety of different genres of books. It also has a mini art gallery where people can come and view experimental art. Def a place to come and it so quiet, you don't even hear outside. It feels like your in the middle of the peaceful, living countryside!

Possibly Ireland's best-located library. Right in the middle of Newcastle with stunning views of the Mourne Mountains. It's small, friendly, relaxed and efficient. The staff are wonderful - huge knowledge of books and authors, and always keen to help. There are enough computers - including some for kids only. Plus, there's a lovely gallery displaying the work of local artists, and comfortable seating for reading books or papers. Worth a visit.
